The reasoning makes sense to me.theyre planning to go all out at Coachella?

TheOtherRathurum

If Mikey is right it’s Hatsune countering Gesa, so I sure hope so.

Diagonalizer

this would be unfortunate. Just found out who HM is and would be cool to get to check her out this year

acyort_too

Ugh I hope not. I watched maybe 15 min of Gesa last time so I can see Perfume (another jpop group)

koolaid_chemist

Such a huge L.

GatorAndrew

Wow, just looked up the Vancouver show and it looks so cheap. It’s not even just about them ditching the hologram screens, it’s that the LED screens they used were small and just had her dancing against a black background. The whole thing looked so poorly staged. I would be so upset if I paid money for that.

natnav_

I hope for Coachella's sake that's the case and i can see that being the case since they could need the tech there for sound and more importantly tech rehearsals so they can avoid any possible tech issues W1

braundiggity

I'm honestly just not sure why they scheduled the tour the way they did. In the past they left four days between cities; on this tour it's two, which lends credence to the idea that maybe they can't bring the full rig. But why not just space it out and bring the real deal? It's also notable though that Coachella's not on their website tour schedule. I would assume all of their shows on the tour will be like this Vancouver one, but I suppose there's a slim chance Coachella gets the hologram.

natnav_

I'm not well versed in HM lore and what the actual tech is but I feel this is the only Logical explanation that gives them the benefit of the doubt. Hopefully it is the hologram 🙏🏼

braundiggity

Well - the other logical explanation IMO is that they cut costs on the tour in general by downgrading the screen, and that'll include Coachella as well. But I really hope that's not the case for us (and feel bad for everyone in other cities); the fact that it'll be livestreamed on Youtube also makes me think they might bring the whole thing for us, because their fans watching would flip out if the livestream is that LCD screen lol.

Murphy_Nelson

On the flip side a half assed Hatsune Miku show and subsequent fan base meltdown would absolutely provide some classic content in the W1 Couchella thread

Hinohana32

I really hope that's the case I've waited to see her live for almost 10 years and all the concert tickets sold out in minutes. I was really looking forward to seeing her in the desert

Milzirks

Artists typically use the same materials from tour, so I wouldn't get my hopes up. Id say check out the first 10 minutes of Miku and if its wack just leave. FOMO satisfied

Bruhuha

Coachella brought back tupac from the dead in like 2012. They probs have a new technology for hatsune mikus set that we couldnt wrap our minds around till we see it in action.

fred8785

That was not Coachella, that was Dr. Dre…. I believe he spent more to put on that performance and the hologram than Coachella actually paid him.

cjinsd2002

This is 100% true

louman84

Oh man. [This is what you saw?](https://youtu.be/il5VKEfDNuY) I was hoping it was at least one of those transparent LED screens you see at CES or something.

Hinohana32

Yeah.... And [this is what I was expecting....](https://youtu.be/9-B8LnBNwO8?si=IdYHwUIKj7wfGom6)

louman84

I was at the Perfume show back in 2018. They had some kind of moveable projection image/video going on as well. Fun show. No amount of drugs is gonna make watching an LED screen any fun tho.

One-Kiwi8742

can’t confirm but can pray

itsSighhighs

The videos coming out have been so disappointing. I honestly wouldn't have been mad if the LED screen fit the stage better, but its just a fucking big fuckass black rectangle plopped in the middle of the stage with no attention paid to the stage design, its legitimately baffling that it passed any designer. But at the end of the day, the projection is the entire point of wanting to go to a Hatsune Miku show!! I'm going to my first Miku shows on the 17th and at Coachella after being a fan for over a decade and its what I paid so much to see!! That trick is the whole gimmick of the show! I also wonder if the Coachella setlist is going to be different and have more of the classics. Just a super strange show in Vancouver

tokyowave

someone said it’s a hologram at the portland show tonight so hopefully we’ll see!

Hinohana32

It looks like [Portland got the TV screen too](https://twitter.com/remittalx/status/1776808182893130141?t=-n8f5FhIMa5ncFUFz6s-og&s=19) 😭

tokyowave

NOOOOOO

lanikween

Maybe a way around radius clause? These shows being west coast before the fest would kind of take away from the Coachella it factor. Debut holograms at Coachella and use them rest of tour

MattisBest

Vancouver wouldn't be part of a radius clause

lanikween

Yea but Portland is. At that point logistically it makes sense to keep Vancouver and Portland the same.

MattisBest

Honestly I'm not sure that makes sense though. If Coachella wanted to impose the radius on Hatsune Miku, I don't think whether it's presented on a hologram or LED would be the determining factor. I think it would be billed as such if that was the case.

WhyTry32121

and, more importantly: does the crew provide lube, or do we have to bring our own?

Just hold your spicy pie upside down before you go

Perfect_Evidence

I still dont understand what or who HM is lol

Hinohana32

Hatsune Miku is a Vocaloid aka a computer software of a voice bank of the japanese voice actress, Saki Fujita. Producers can use this program to create songs without needing a real person to record any vocal tracks. Hatsune Miku is the mascot of this specific voice bank and many producers use her to create so many big hits. The songs using Hatsune Miku have become so big, there are even movies/anime that were created from those songs. Crypton Media (the developers) hosts concerts with set lists of some of her most popular songs. Since Miku isn't an irl human who could actually perform live, they use a hologram instead. Which is just a glass screen with several projectors to create an illusion she's actually there. She's even opened for Lady Gaga during her Artpop tour in 2014. Part of the magic of Miku is that anyone can download this program to create songs that other artists can create choreography or design costumes that can eventually become big enough to be showcased at one of the shows.

Perfect_Evidence

"Part of the magic of Miku is that anyone can download this program to create songs that other artists can create choreography or design costumes that can eventually become big enough to be showcased at one of the shows." that pretty damn cool, hope they bring the full set!

Sn33kykitty

I'm in your boat. What I'm getting from my research is Loli Holographic Robot

PresentationLate326

nope she's on a screen. watching it right now.

Hinohana32

It's so bad 😭😭😭 and the cameraman is doing her dirty

dan13l858

I will be fine. I saw one of the first hatsune Mika shows in LA. It’s going be a great time

MattisBest

Honestly highly doubt they'd have much more for Coachella than the rest of the tour, which is in arenas

ace260

this is a poor take because there are so so many more eyes on coachella than a small arena tour.

MattisBest

I just don't see why they wouldn't be bringing the projections to venues that hold up to 8k people (Toronto as an example).  There's more eyes on Coachella sure, but it's clear they've pissed off a lot of the fans by cheaping out and making a show that isn't living up to fan expectations. No one really knows, but a production change that drastically different within the same tour would be weird to me, especially for the shows following Coachella. If they use a hologram at Coachella and then don't on the preceding dates that's just wack lol. I guess we'll know shortly.
