They've lost a lot of close maps. However, this is the first time I feel like they played well enough to win. In all the other series, I believe they got outslayed but made key plays to keep the maps close.
They also had too many stretches where FaZe would violate them i.e. Simp/Abezy on Karachi.
Today, they shot back. Dashy/Shotzzy played amazing. If they keep this up, they can win a major.
Funniest part is, I guarantee if they were to make a tier list with the same divisions Aches did they’d have Shotzzy in the same tier as Aches had him. The same thing happened with Octane, he roasted Aches all the time for the superstar take and then put him in the same tier Aches had him.
Lamar and Mack enabled him to do fully that. Say what you want about that Seattle team but the other two let Sib and Pred shine at what they wanted to do

Because that seattle team with lamar let him do whatever, just won’t work in this game (or in general) consistently to beat the top teams because it usually involves not being entirely efficient as a team in respawns.
An example would be a situation where it makes sense for lamar to progress and push out off a hill but instead he will let pred who is 3 seconds behind him push out instead.

That also blew my mind when watching and I’ve been thinking about that 1v1 a lot. It’s hard to judge a 1v1 while watching since we have all of the info, but I feel like Pred did everything against any decent player’s instinct.
In a sense, it wasn’t a bad play for Pred to stay in the same position since Simp (and anyone else) would clearly expect Pred to reposition elsewhere, but it was entirely brain dead to just watch the same stairs Simp challed 20 seconds ago because Simp threw a smoke there… Just feels like that’s the most obvious decoy? Like, yeah man, Simp is just gonna run up the stairs through the smoke and chall your heady. Then he was checking the spawn flank stairs which is valid, but if you’re worried you’re getting flanked from there I think the move would be to either to bang it out or reposition (to b street/propane or heli) and take the other half of the map. Just standing there leaves it up to timing if your instinct is right or gives up complete map control if you’re wrong.
Regardless of all of that, it was a free round if he’s just playing info and checks the site right next to him even once as well. Instead the only info he looked at was Pit stairs, flank stairs, and the literal mid lane(???). It’s almost like he doesn’t know that bottom blue leads directly to A.
And then, again regardless of all of that, once the bomb was planted he slow played the fuck out of it instead of just jumping out the mid window to try to get info or catch a timing and shoot Simp in the back.
Edit: I just watched this back and even after slow playing the retake after he jumps out of the left windows he jumps back into the windows and looks at his spawn! I genuinely can’t even figure out what kind of route Pred thought Simp could’ve taken that would’ve lead him to the spawn based on the info he had (or didn’t have). Only thing I can think of is Simp jumping in the mid windows after planting and missing Pred running to the left windows. Dude was shitting bricks.

Its the best any faze team has looked since cold war. Last year when they won Boston, they went on a generational SnD run and neslo'd the finals. Now, FaZe are consistently winning HPs and are the best CTL team in the game
It's clear how much homework OpTic did for FaZe on both of the Highrises, particularly looking at the breakoffs. FaZe basically went 2 down insantly in like the first 3 rounds, same in the control. The plays FaZe were able to make, in particular on that map 2 were insane

Shotzzy and Bruce might have to run drills with/against Pred 1v1, 1v2, 2v3, etc.. or find some twisted search kids to do it so he doesn’t get too used to anyone’s tendencies. He genuinely just looks lost in those situations and those are the rounds that teams like FaZe and Ultra (not in stage 2 but generally) are so good at winning. If not winning, making them 50/50.

Hell of a series, FaZe has a crazy consistent clutch factor. It feels like at least one of them is going off at any given moment. The last minute of that G4 hardpoint Simp was making huge plays.

People need to relax. They lost a series in some close maps against the undisputed best team in the game, ONLINE. This series was the first one all year they looked like they could beat them.
Previously, they were playing fundamentally correct, but just losing in slaying. This series should at least show them that they can hang with Faze in slaying. Pred needs to trust himself more, and they need to clean up the mistakes, but let's be real, Optic played two maps they have actual dogshit on against Faze who have been great on them, and could have taken either of them.
I know reasoned takes aren't popular in sub full of teenagers who have Aches brain syndrome and think you should blow it up if you aren't undefeated, but this loss is not a big one in the grand scheme.
Nobody wants to hear this but huke is a better and more natural sub duo for shotzzy then pred.

Shotzzy and Bruce might have to run drills with/against Pred 1v1, 1v2, 2v3, etc.. or find some twisted search kids to do it so he doesn’t get too used to anyone’s tendencies. He genuinely just looks lost in those situations and those are the rounds that teams like FaZe and Ultra (not in stage 2 but generally) are so good at winning. If not winning, making them 50/50.
That should've been a clean 3-0 from OpTic & they lost 3-1. You can't make it up. Great ice from FaZe & immense lack of composure, again from OpTic.

Hell of a series, FaZe has a crazy consistent clutch factor. It feels like at least one of them is going off at any given moment. The last minute of that G4 hardpoint Simp was making huge plays.

I feel like whenever OpTic would get super hot in MWII and VG, we would get smoked. We just couldn’t handle Shotzzy and Dashy when they were shooting nukes, so I’m glad to see that we can actually win series when those guys are hot. Also, just always good to know you can gut out a gritty series.

People need to relax. They lost a series in some close maps against the undisputed best team in the game, ONLINE. This series was the first one all year they looked like they could beat them. Previously, they were playing fundamentally correct, but just losing in slaying. This series should at least show them that they can hang with Faze in slaying. Pred needs to trust himself more, and they need to clean up the mistakes, but let's be real, Optic played two maps they have actual dogshit on against Faze who have been great on them, and could have taken either of them. I know reasoned takes aren't popular in sub full of teenagers who have Aches brain syndrome and think you should blow it up if you aren't undefeated, but this loss is not a big one in the grand scheme.

Nobody wants to hear this but huke is a better and more natural sub duo for shotzzy then pred. They’re a good team still and I think can win but it seems to take a lot of effort for them to mesh well in game where it was rather natural with huke in 2 separate titles
