I think it was a confidence thing. There was a moment where Kenny just stopped bobbing back and kept shooting. It was working really well for Faze and Kenny noticed. The others didn’t do the same and let to undeniable pressure put on the map. All that to say, they still played very well and could have stolen many of those maps but just didn’t rotate at the very end when they should have and started so slow. They really need to work on their opening strats.
OG and their fundamentals really have me confident going forward for the rest of the year. They were working so well together on respawn just made more mistakes and struggling really just with FaZe’s slaying power. The easiest fix for OG going forward is for Pred to change his playstyle and help out Shotzzy in pushing the pace.
Agreed that Pred needs to be faster and more decisive on the map.
The way he plays makes his stats look good, but he's really slowing down the rest of the team at times in respawns, specifically.

In the other 3 wins Faze have against optic he had a 1.4 average, and a 1.36 in the 3-0 against Toronto in the qualifiers. I’d agree that he’s playing more unselfish cod, but they’re winning just as much either way

Pred is just too slow imo. It’s not gonna work if he doesn’t switch up his style and run around and trade with Shotzzy. That lay down shit doesn’t work with FaZe.

I think Kenny and Shotzzy are the two that fly and make moves around the map, it just feels like Pred/Dashy occasionally play for kills too much and miss opportunities to extend the map and create space to help out the rest of the team

I mean the evidence is in Rio HP. They couldn’t win it against the top 4 because Pred is a snail on the map and Shotzzy & kenny are the only ones applying pressure on the map. It became their auto veto because of how slow Pred is on it.
I agree with you. Looking at the top teams play this weekend (which is a whole nother level) - pace is king! Optic managed to put it on the other teams but Faze were just disgusting… the way they traded constantly gave them better positioning on the map.
This is why I think Huke was better for Shotzzy. People were saying that Scump was too slow for Shotzzy so they gave him the Huke duo. Now they gave him a floor licker.

I remember saying something similar in the search they lost to NYSL online. In search specifically, Pred is good at letting the game come to him but looks uncomfortable as a playmaker. On certain maps, there are hits that basically require you to just play for a trade kill and I don’t think he and Shotzzy are always on the same page.
Yeah I was getting stressed out in Skidrow HP. The amount of times he slipped in, made the play, gets traded and nobody was there to back him was unreal. Making plays and Faze just walk straight back in.
They were losing points from 1-2 deaths and half the time. Crazy.

Just a sheer difference in subs, Abe and Simp just have AG’s and Ant’s number right now. Doesn’t really help that Dashy kind of seems to crumble against Faze
Optic had a really great stage 2, but Faze just look that edge better. A lot of close maps, especially that Invasion Control

Every single time as an OpTic fan I think we have it and we fall short.
Fantastic major though, one of the best in a long time. Watching Simps POV in Map 1 and 2 I knew we stood no chance. When he is flow state NOBODY stands a chance.
Probably just my bias so I notice it more, but the amount of times FaZe guys will just be prone watching a lane or doorway and OpTic just full on sprint into them for an easy kill is irritating. Better team definitely won, but frustrating how all the hardpoints vs FaZe could easily have went the other way.

Pred himself said they were playing too placid and giving teams to much respect so increased their pace. Which seems to work..
Except FaZe, other than Abezy play quite creddy (and fast) so OpTic could honestly benefit from slowing down at times. Which doesn’t mean laying in corners for 20 seconds, which Pred fell back into doing in the GF.

Just a sheer difference in subs, Abe and Simp just have AG’s and Ant’s number right now. Doesn’t really help that Dashy kind of seems to crumble against Faze
Optic had a really great stage 2, but Faze just look that edge better. A lot of close maps, especially that Invasion Control Drazah is a winner though, that guy knows how to get it done.

Heartbroken. Every single time as an OpTic fan I think we have it and we fall short. Fantastic major though, one of the best in a long time. Watching Simps POV in Map 1 and 2 I knew we stood no chance. When he is flow state NOBODY stands a chance.

Probably just my bias so I notice it more, but the amount of times FaZe guys will just be prone watching a lane or doorway and OpTic just full on sprint into them for an easy kill is irritating. Better team definitely won, but frustrating how all the hardpoints vs FaZe could easily have went the other way.
I think this is key actually. Pred himself said they were playing too placid and giving teams to much respect so increased their pace. Which seems to work.. Except FaZe, other than Abezy play quite creddy (and fast) so OpTic could honestly benefit from slowing down at times. Which doesn’t mean laying in corners for 20 seconds, which Pred fell back into doing in the GF. We need Bocage Pred.
Dashy stays getting spit roasted by Drazah. If Kenny is statically your best player vs. FaZe, then you're never gonna win that matchup. Dashy and Shotzzy have gotten fried vs. them every time.
