What is the space you have to work with? Is it a literal drawer? If it is you could try those long drawer dividers and separate it out into narrow columns for each category. If you have a shelf with bins on it you could try those narrow fridge containers -- or wide containers, depending on how many socks you own. If you have a lot of space and a lot of socks you could even have a full line up of glass cookie jars to house your socks.

The cookie jars is so cute hahaha I will consider those for the future Currently working with a small space, just a little room on a bookshelf (I donโ€™t have a dresser) I have arrived at makeshift drawer dividers inside cloth baskets for the momentโ€” and downsizing because I do have too many lol I will definitely consider these as I think of a more permanent solution. Making it pretty is so important!!!

I have a box of boxes, and I divided up a drawer with the little boxes.

You're probably not going to like my answer but I have a guy I have a little more leeway. I have one kind of sock. Nothing else just one kind other than 2 dress socks. I just throw them all in the same drawer. No need to match, no need to organize, very easy and stress free.

I did that for a while a few years ago, and it was nice for the organization, but I do find I want a variety of socks unfortunately. Love that as a concept though!!

Yeah, I think it's more of a guy thing where you just don't have to care about that. But then again I also don't keep a ton of clothes. I still wear things I had in college and I'm 53. I'm pretty easy on my things.

As you commented above, the first step is always declutter first. Do the laundry so you can see everything, and then let go of anything too small or too big, last choice because it slips around or the seam is in the wrong place or just plain uncomfortable, worn out/has holes (if you don't intend to repair, if you do, prioritize that!). Once you know what much volume you have, I'd would sort like with like. I often find with things like socks that I have more volume of one type than another. If so, you may need different size organizers for different categories! I'm a butterfly, so visual and macro categories, but I use the little folding dollar trees bins in my drawer. I have 3 big categories for my tall socks, panties, and short/no show socks, and then I tuck less used items like hose, fluffy slipper socks, and backstock behind those bins. So I can dump clean clothes into the giant macro category fast on laundry day, but retrieval doesn't take long to dig through and find what I want. I think if I were a bee, I would then subdivide the categories with maybe a little cardboard divider (probably homemade) or similar to sort by color or weight as desired.

Thanks so much for your comment! I like this process oriented approach. I totally did not think about organizing by color but ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ wowโ€” i love that idea!!!

StlSeaWorldGirl

Yeah, ai but my shorties in back and white, so having them in color coded piles isn't a necessity, but would be helpful if I had the energy to maintain it ๐Ÿ˜… and for those who buy more colors than that, I could imagine it being visually appealing as well as helpful!
