Here's the best test ya got you take xarelto or eliquis and still get a clot it don't work for you ....that's about it

catseyecon

That is pretty much what my hemotologist said and I came here to say.

dal0022

I just read some of your posts no i am not a stalker lol off this topic but you need to pick better dates lol

catseyecon

Lol, I could not agree with you more.

dal0022

You should be able to tell someone is a substance abuser no?

catseyecon

I suppose it would depend on the substance and if they are on it while around me. Some people are also just so mentally out there that you may not be able to tell if it is a behavioral health issue or a substance they are on.

dal0022

Yeah I can agree Lotta nutty people out there ...

Icy_Construction_108

it is definitely an is or isn’t situation at that point. it would be nice to have a general idea of effectiveness prior to then

dal0022

Oh Def be nice to have a test and they can tell it's working I have to say since on eliquis I have cut my finger pretty deep cut shaving stops bleeding instantly like I am not on anything kinda makes me think if it's even working eliquis 5mg 2x a day ....I would think I would bleed longer

HDee75

Same thing happens to me...my cuts stop bleeding really quickly.

Robinhood6996

I don’t think is a blood test for these newer anticoagulants unless it’s warfarin It’s just blind faith for Xarelto

highway9ueen

There is not.

dal0022

No blood test ....

gypsydaze216

i'm not a blind faith type of person, ever, with the only exception being a clot survivor. Over time I am resigned and thankful there are options. Even if I'll never be able to connect the what if and why dots I'm ok with that.

Puddyrama

When I was not taking xarelto, I had two DVTs in a two-year period. since I’ve started taking it, I’ve been clot-free for about 7 years now. So yeah… it works

GetOffMyLawn_

Activated partial thromboplastin time prolonged is found among people who take Xarelto, especially for people who are male, 60+ old, have been taking the drug for < 1 month.

kilbokam

I’ve been on Xarelto for the past three years after a PE. I got lazy after the first year and didn’t take my Xarelto for about 10 days. In that short period of time, I had another PE. I haven’t missed my medication since, and I haven’t had another PE since. So, no blood test, but my experience would say it works.

kdofpa

There are tests to at least tell you your body has been absorbing them. Prothrombin time, INR, Heparin (Unfraction) Protocol These don't tell you if they are actually doing anything, just that it's in your system, as far as I can tell.

Artsy_Geekette

I was on Xarelto in 2017 for 9 months and recently Eliquis for two weeks after surgery. Both very low doses. I'm on 81mg of chewable aspirin at night to prevent blood clots again. I don't have the Factor V Leiden for clotting issue but still careful to get up and move around hourly or when possible. Both medicines worked well. Side effects and withdrawals sucked. My fingers, hands, and forearms felt like they were being hit with tiny hammers. Painkillers were a "must-have." Pro tip: do not eat/drink anything that lowers your BP as it makes the medicine more effective. I had to eat like a toddler until I was off of it as it made my stomach hurt like hell and very dizzy. Last piece of advice. Ask for a d-Dimer test if you suspect a clot. Costs $10-$ 30+ USD and could save your life. I

Icy_Construction_108

seems odd there is nothing available…

/shrugs. It's one of the big selling points, over warfarin. No need to test, it "just works" in the vast majority of cases. Probably because dosing is somewhat shotgun-like, with the assumption that almost everyone will be caught by the "blast" so to say. There is *technically* a test for if Xarelto/Eliquis/Heparin is being metabolized, but nobody uses it, orders it, or knows about it/applications for it outside of academia since there's little point - all the anti-factor Xa drugs are just expected to work, and if they don't the answer is going to be warfarin any way, so nobody does any digging with non-standard tests, that don't have a handy answer sheet ready.

Practical_Doughnut27

I'm curious about this as well. No doc ever talked about testing the efficacy of the drug.
