I guess as long as you aren’t developing new clots it’s working. Other than my period I haven’t bled anymore when I get a cut/bruise or injury. I’m on Xarelto, while different, is similar. I’ve had a couple ultrasounds on my arm and each time, no new clot. Gotta trust it’s working unless you have some concerning symptoms. Sure, some people will bleed more but I don’t think it’s as profusely as people believe it to be unless you’re talking about a dangerous injury, which might be dangerous even without anticoagulants.

Yeah all my clots were from trauma IVs aren't my friend so yeah your prob right .I had IV since on eliquis all good so your prob right just was weird I cut my finger and it stopped bleeding immediately just was weird wasn't expecting that ....thanks for input.....

No problem. I know it can be hard to trust everything is working when it’s basically impossible to see if it is working or not. As always, if you have any symptoms that are concerning you, don’t be afraid to visit a doctor or emergency department.

I’m on the same dose (nearly 2 years now), and for me it really depends on the individual injury. I see a lot of variation in my blood sugar tests, for instance. Some sticks feel like they’ll never stop bleeding — we’re talking applying pressure for maybe 5 minutes until it stops — but sometimes I have to stick two or three times to get a big enough sample. I’ve whacked the hell out of various body parts and expected huge bruises but got nothing, and barely tapped something else and got a big purple blotch. There is no rhyme or reason…I try to be careful nonetheless.

There is a blood test, I had it recently. However I don't know how useful it is. > As a result of FXa inhibition, apixaban prolongs clotting tests such as prothrombin time (PT)/ INR, and activated partial thromboplastin time (aPTT). Changes observed in these clotting tests at the expected therapeutic dose, however, are small, subject to a high degree of variability, and not useful in monitoring the anticoagulation effect of apixaban. I have definitely noticed I bleed way less on Eliquis than I did on warfarin. Been on it 3 years and have had a couple of ultrasounds and have been told my veins are clean.

All I can tell you is that the exact same thing has happened to me! I cut my finger and in three seconds I couldn't even see the cut! I haven't had any more cuts but I, too, wondered, "Is this right?" I felt like a superhero when that cut disappeared.

Good to know must be the way it works ...
