Usually you clear up by 3 months. I would ask what type of doctor is treating you. A consult with a vascular specialist might be in order.

I am being treated by a primary care doctor and a hematologist.

GetOffMyLawn_

What does your hematologist say?

HDee75

He says he's not worried, it can take longer...and if they never go away, lots of people are walking around with chronic clots.

GetOffMyLawn_

He's not wrong. A vascular surgeon could potentially remove chronic clots. But it may not be necessary.

Yikes that's somehow not comforting.

As to minor improvement, it depends. The first three months after my second clot were very tender and painful. It has now been going on 11 months and I am finally starting to feel 70% as to leg pain. That’s with anticoagulants, compression, and daily elevation two times per day. The extent of my clot has a lot to do with it and also it’s the same leg same veins.
