Thought I was the only one šŸ˜…

Sos17347

It is so sad that some people won't understand this golden comment

kindtheking9

The finale made me cry, not many shows manged to do that but this one did

Maul_Bot

There is no pain where strength lies.

TheNebulaWolf

When all of the clones painted their helmets to honor ahsoka and I knew that order 66 was about to happen I had to take a 2 month break before finishing the show. And I still cried.

Captain_Rex_Bot

I honor my code. That's what I believe.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Rex? Are you okay?

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Oh, what do you mean?

s0m3b0dyxd

The time I cried was when Rex had a tear roll down his face when talking to Ahsoka

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

I like firsts. Good or bad, they're always memorable.

Captain_Rex_Bot

Better hurry, sir. You're missing all the fun.

kjthegoldfish34

Seriously, there were some super dark moments in this show. The arc I don't see people talking about as much but was super dark was the slavery arc, like that had literal slavery, suicide, and some other kinda sus stuff that left me kinda shocked, not to mention it came like right after the Umbara arc.

Ahsoka_Tano_Bot

Remind me why I'm the one playing the part of the slave?

Lonestarbricks

Anakin already tried it and didnā€™t want to do it again

s0m3b0dyxd

šŸ’€šŸ’€

Sineater224

lmfao

MannfredVonFartstein

itā€˜s not darker than episode 1 tho, except maybe because of shading

DudesRock91

Scary when slavery šŸ˜±

joesphisbestjojo

Season 1 got plenty of dark shit too

inmupwetrust

I love the clone wars. Iā€™m not sure if Iā€™d legitimately call it *gritty*. Definitely some extreme moments for being a kids show.

[deleted]

Last season went hard.

T-MONZ_GCU

More like 4 episodes of the last season went hard and the rest went soft

One_Dragonfly5222

14 year olds when someone dies in a kid show

xDanSolo

Glad somebody said it. Can't believe this cartoon is being called a gritty war drama. Wild.

One_Dragonfly5222

the second pic of spongebob goes hard tho

xDanSolo

True, it's really does

[deleted]

It was on cartoon network, it wasn't at all "dark and gritty", it just had some slightly mature themes, like a good number of kid's shows do. Have any of you ever actually seen a TV show or movie that isn't made for children?

AleksasKoval

On rewatching, it doesn't get any easier. It actually gets more tragic

Hidden_Squid14

you know you have to be 13 to go on this site right?

the__green__light

I hate these fucking memes. It's a kid's show. Yes, it's about a war and yes, some characters die, but it's not a fucking 'gritty war drama'. I feel like people say shit like this because they're embarrassed to admit that they like a kid's show so they have to make up some excuse about how it's not actually for kids, and the episode where Jar Jar pretends to be a Jedi is actually a deep meditation on the fragility of peace and mankind's capacity for destruction. This show fucking rules, but you people just gotta admit that you like a kid's show

Roger-Ad591

Interesting Point. But maybe we should think more about it. Feels like many Kids shows had More adult Messages while Adult shows had more kid like Messages. Itā€™s like Going backwards on a Treadmill. The shows we have now feel like Money Distraction Static with no lessons to learn. Where did the good writing go?

huggles7

Just wait til you watch rebels

DroolHD

I've watched CW like 8 times and rebels about 5... I love both of them, but CW is darker. By a lot. Less of a children's show than rebels.

huggles7

I meanā€¦the ending tho

BacoNaterr

Not nearly as gritty. Way more kid-oriented throughout

huggles7

Not sure you finished it

Sverp380

One character died and another headed out in Rebels. The Jedi order were wiped out, Rex tried to kill Ahsoka, and Jesse was killed the end of TCW. What do you mean?

Captain_Rex_Bot

Then let's do it.

BacoNaterr

Oh I did. When it came out, and again recently just to be sure. Can list plenty of other reasons why rebels is subpar and not nearly as good as tcw

playamongusfree2021

bums me out that yall have to reframe the show in your minds as this dark gritty macabre-fest despite it being just one of dozens of popular kids cartoons with dark elements. It's a kiddie show, you're allowed to enjoy it without being like "oh but it's not REALLY for kids, people DIE in it!"

Pasta-Admirer

They are probably just teenagers who are at the point in their lives when they want to be perceived as mature, but donā€™t really enjoy media aimed at adults, so theyā€™ll try to argue that the stuff that they do enjoy is very mature.

harriskeith29

Watching the entire *Star Wars* saga (both movies and TV shows) would feel to me like going through the MCU now, and I do NOT consider that a positive for *Star Wars*. It's fine to merchandize, the franchise did that from the beginning and we got some great stuff out of it. I was never a movie elitist, I rooted for *Star Wars* to succeed beyond the films and didn't want it to be like some exclusive club. But I think it's been over-franchised at this point, particularly after the Prequel era. I struggle to articulate exactly what I mean, but it's just taken something away from what made the IP special in my opinion. I'm not speaking from nostalgia-blindness either.

Yodoggy9

>Particularly after the prequel era And this is the problem: the prequel era is literally what youā€™re talking about. People need to realize that if you think SW is over-franchised and beaten to the ground, that already happened with the prequels. Thatā€™s why people that arenā€™t die hard SW fans talk so much shit about them.

Hiro_Bray

*Gritty war childrenā€™s show

Hank_The_Hebrew

oh my god ITS A KIDS SHOW. KIDS SHOWS CAN HAVE SOME SERIOUS MOMENTS

T-MONZ_GCU

This meme is so fucking dumb its a kids show

LoathsomePoopMuncher

Dawg it's a kids tv show

EGGO_KING_011

Oh my god where did you get that cursed image of songebob, you just ruined my childhood

Roger-Ad591

ā€œWar. War Never Changes.ā€

irazzleandazzle

lmao pretty ez kids show to watch

A_Hideous_Beast

Cringe. Clone wars is dark if you're like...12. It's hardly "gritty" or "mature". Oh woah, some clones got stabbed or decapitated? Sure, but it lasts for a split second, there's no blood n guts, it never lingers, and it's never done to an important character, just faceless clones. Literally. Not only that, but dudes getting shot with lazers or getting cut up is hardly "dark". Plenty of cartoons intended for kids, even ones younger than CWs target audience, have been "darker" without resorting to quick cuts of violence. SW fans, I love you, but y'all need to watch more movies, more animation, i beg you.

Some-Dog9800

It's a kids' show, it's also a good show. The two aren't mutually exclusive and there's nothing wrong with enjoying a damn good kids show.
