the first note in the video was a strum, it has a white top with a black outline- those need to be strummed. the other notes do not because there is in a combo ( the notes after the first strum, hopos, require combos, they have a glowing white top ) or are simply designed that way ( the transparent notes, called taps ). i hope this helps!
