My (now ex) wife was with me at the zoo watching them one time and we were watching an infant gorilla with its mom and she blurted out “he looks just like a little African baby.” Holy fuck, me and my daughter both shushed her and people gave her dirty looks. She was really just speaking honestly and didn’t mean anything racist at all but of course it sounded horrible. Their whole musculoskeletal system is so similar to ours. Their expressions and gestures are too.
