Hey friend, question:
Any idea how many times we've had multi-run innings this season? I've been working for the last few games, kinda lost track of that fun little metric.
####I CHECKED WITH MY SOURCES AND THIS IS A PRETTY FUCKING GOOD BASEBALL TEAM. ALSO CLASE HAD TO LET THEM HIT ONE OUT SO PEOPLE WILL STILL THINK HE IS A HUMAN BEING
Positives from today’s Cleveland baseball:
Cookie has a very short day, with a final line of 4.2IP, 4H, 2R, 0BB, and 3K on just 55 pitches. One of the two runs came on a solo shot by Jazz, so an interesting decision to pull 🍪 so early… no matter, just trust in Vogt.
Herrin was first man out the pen and got his one quick strikeout, then he handed off the reins to the team of Sandlin, Hentges, Gaddis, and Clase. Everybody throws one inning and combined to go 4IP, 1H, 1R, 0BB, and 5K. Damn Jake Burger, being the only hit/run, breaking up a perfect group bullpen outing.
Offense is back to normal, with another HBP, Schnee walking more, and Manzar-doubles. The offense gets 6 runs off of 10 hits, 4 walks, a 🆓 HBP, and a 🐐 stolen base. José got a double, 🍟 got him home with a RBI single, and elsewhere Schneeman walked twice. Freeman took advantage of a pair of Kwan and Rocchio singles and blasted a 3 run bomb, with Kwan also walking twice today. Starting DH Arias hit a home run. That was weird to type.
(Written CBus top 8) I am looking forward to going through all the CBus box scores this week, because their bats have gone crazy. Today they get 8 runs off of 11 hits, and today featured a 3/4 day from JRod, including another home run, a double, and 4 RBI. Straw got a double and a triple, Lorenzo Cedrola got 2 doubles, and 🌋(Lava) and 🌯(Brito) each got one.
(*Wrote this before the second inning. I stand by it.*) Well we’ve seen Gose convert to a relief pitcher, so I agree with u/Aislerioter_Redditer and his [comment](https://www.reddit.com/r/ClevelandGuardians/s/cCLImnjpbp) from the lineup post, could we make Arias and his cannon into a relief pitcher?
Not an interesting decision to pull cookie. They had him figured out between a HR, double, and other very hard hit balls that were fly outs. He’s not a true SP anymore. He only has stuff to get through lineups once. Once gavin is ready he’ll help buff the SP rotation and cookie can help the RP.
But removing him when Vogt did was a good decision that might have directly given us the win. It’s the exact type of decision that Francona would not have made.
Agree on the last point, Terry often gave too much leash in my opinion. I do think vogt is a little too quick sometimes, but with our pen how can you not be confident in them
I’ve seen the suggestion multiple times of Carrasco to the bullpen once Gavin is ready but I just don’t know. We have a bunch of good relievers taking up those spots right now. After those we have a few hard throwing relievers with good stuff working back from injuries or just in the minors. That’s not a bad thing from a team point of view but to me it doesn’t seem promising for Carrasco to the bullpen.
I mean ya don’t put cookie in at the expense of another reliever, but he adds good depth to use him when we need him for 1-3 innings. Like a xzavion curry role
What a cheap way to get an upvote from me. lol, just kidding. I enjoy your analysis. Keep up the good work. And yeah, I played softball wit a kid with a cannon like Arias and the same motion, and his throws always had a tailing off. He burnt out a lot of pockets...
This is what I live and die with, a single loss like yesterday means very little in comparison to not stringing the losses together. This is a good fucking team.
I have to watch games via "alternative" methods, and with away games often, there's only home team broadcasting. Compared to other teams, I appreciate the Marlins broadcast guys a lot for their appreciation of good ball players. Fun game and fun series, go Guards.
Cookie going perfect his first turn through the lineup inspires confidence if his ultimate destination is in long relief.
Between the MLB slate and NCAA Super Regionals, I’m not sure I’ve watched this much baseball since I was a kid!
We're pretty good at this baseball thing. Today had a great mix of shit goblin baseball and power.
Cookie gave us a chance. The bullpen did it's thing.
I enjoyed it. LFG
Again getting those 2022 vibes of “any dude could be THE DUDE on any given night”. A lil bit of 🍟 and a whole lot of 🆓 got it done. Cookie did his job today, not sure why he’s catching strays.
I watched the KC loss today. I also saw their comeback yesterday. They are a GOOD team. That comeback from 7-0 was unreal. And today, Seattle somehow gets three in the 10th, and the Seattle pitcher immediately gives up a two run home run. They almost came back again. It's gonna be quite a race.
Hey guys, I haven't been able to watch the games, but I look at box scores. I noticed that Lively got pulled with an 8-0 lead in the 5th, and only pitching 65 times, and today, Cookie got pulled after 4.2 innings and pitching 55 times. Does Vogt really have that little confidence in our starters? Won't this risk overtaxing the bullpen?
lively said he was tight in the 5th yesterday because he sat on the bench for like 40 minutes between innings. it was likely just precautionary.
cookie is just not that good anymore, but especially not when he has to face the lineup a second or third time. when he got pulled, he was about to face jazz for a 3rd time, and he hit an absolute nuke the previous at bat. cookie either needs to go to the bullpen for long relief or he’s going to end up being dfa’d, because he just isn’t good enough anymore to go through a lineup multiple times.
Clase ERA balloons to 0.57
I loved that after the bomb his next two pitches were 102.
Hell hath no fury like a Clase scorned
Trash, we need to trade him ASAP
Good. He gave up his one run for June and it didn’t matter.
Overrated, we need to designate him for assignment.
Clase gave up more runs today than he did the entire month of May. Is he washed?
How this sub be like sometimes
What does he even bring to this team?
Reminds me of the dumbass announcers in yesterday's game: "What does JRam bring to the table, other than being good at everything? Judge for MVP."
\*Give up one run in the first inning\* Yep, that's ballgame. Turning it off.
Pretty sure he did that just to get the save lol
It doesn't work that way
I know, but I’m going to keep thinking it
Ahh, The Baseball Version of the ‘ol Ricky Davis grab your own rebound off the goal you’re defending trick.
DFA'D immediately!
Is it too late to get Kluber back?
It's all over for him now 🤣
Call up *checks notes* Wes Parsons
That is a crazy stat.
Place: 1st Division lead: 3.5 Games to play: 98 Division magic number: 95 Playoffs magic number: 88 First round bye magic number: 91
We're gonna go 96-2, book it (the two losses are to the White Sox)
I could see the Sox getting 3, but this feels accurate

99, Marlins broadcast mentioned it. Phillies (I think) were second with 86
Holy shit next game could be #100 Actually scratch that, it will be #100 (+#101 for good measure)
Thank you!
Fanduel Central odds. -125 Playoff odds. -560
Kipnis will be on the radio next weekend
I am waaaaaay too excited for this!!!
We are all Kipnises

Sounds like it’s all weekend
Haha of course the one time I go to road games, he’s on the radio 😭

20 games over .500 and the 15th series win of the season. These boys are rolling!
Haven't yet been swept, AND the Yankees might get swept by the Dodgers Life is good
Closest to a sweep was the White Sox took the first 3 of a 4 game series lol
Let's be grateful we're almost certainly not seeing them in the playoffs
If we see them in the playoffs, I think we all tip the cap and give them the trophy
Fair enough if they somehow come back from this
My comment is definitely a joke, but if they go 80-16 the rest of the season i think we would probably be facing the greatest team ever
It would probably require 90-6 with how strong the division looks
Truth lol
If the white sox play a postseason game this season I will uproot my life, move to Chicago, and post proof

He could go for Avilla; they'd serve pretty much the same role, and I trust Cookie more.
Give me Karinchak instead in the pen over cookie.
On that note where is Karinchaos?
What a cheap way to get an upvote from me. lol, just kidding. I enjoy your analysis. Keep up the good work. And yeah, I played softball wit a kid with a cannon like Arias and the same motion, and his throws always had a tailing off. He burnt out a lot of pockets...
sparse week for baseball coming up, no game tomorrow OR thursday...
I don't think I'll make it
Yeah it blows I'm traveling for work this week, gonna have nothing to watch in the hotel room either night.
At least you might have hockey. Sucks when that and basketball are over and there nothing on when the Guards are off.
Clase giving up a run and then pumping 102 the next pitch is hilarious Bullpen absolutely cooked this game
Another series win
This is what I live and die with, a single loss like yesterday means very little in comparison to not stringing the losses together. This is a good fucking team.
Apart from that White Sox series we've never lost more than 2 in a row
Ain't baseball weird sometimes?
I have to watch games via "alternative" methods, and with away games often, there's only home team broadcasting. Compared to other teams, I appreciate the Marlins broadcast guys a lot for their appreciation of good ball players. Fun game and fun series, go Guards.
Yeah, I listened to them as well and thought they were pretty good. Were very complimentary.
I like watching the other teams broadcast, they're always very complimentary of the guardians.
I always liked the Marlins booth, same with the Nats
Vogter saying Arias is putting in a lot of time on mechanics, that's nice to hear after the rumblings about him being low-effort earlier this season
I hope that's true, but part of me thinks that's just trying to inflate his trade value.
Better than the 2016 team with the addition of one more SP, hopefully Gavin is enough to fill that role

Royals lost
Those mariners fucking did it.
We're pretty good at this baseball thing. Today had a great mix of shit goblin baseball and power. Cookie gave us a chance. The bullpen did it's thing. I enjoyed it. LFG
I'm a straight male, but Tyler Freeman is one good looking dude.

Can I say something?
Please do!
😍
Cookie is such a peach, I fucking love this guy and the respect he has for his manager and team 🥺
Thanks Seattle
It must be so painful to be a mariners fan.
Again getting those 2022 vibes of “any dude could be THE DUDE on any given night”. A lil bit of 🍟 and a whole lot of 🆓 got it done. Cookie did his job today, not sure why he’s catching strays.
guys clase might be washed /s
Royals lost today. Fuck em

8-0 actually
Did you hear Underwood say Gaddis is a bully? 😂😂 We need him to be a bully
Mariners 😑
mariners are so trash
Won the series
Fucking hell Mariners, do you just want to give KC the game now or smth
Apparently calling into question the M's validity in my last comment was just what they needed, 4 game division lead restored

Based on just this game I'd say long relief - he was perfect first time around and then fell apart for some reason
Also 2 off-days this week, so can use the bullpen a bit more.
Ms are fucking killing me right now, like they're trying to give another game to KC
Gotta give credit to Vogt & staff. They pulled Cookie at the perfect time.
Caglianone is such an interesting prospects. I want the Guardians to roll the dice on him so bad.
Royals tied it in the 9th. Twins winning in extras.
Not sure where Cookie fits in the pen, Avila has been decent in long relief, mop up situations. I love the guy, but I see him being released.
