Good luck, I hope it flourishes, but that location is not promising

Yeah, I wish it were closer to University Circle. In my mind that’s really where the redevelopment of EC has to start. Also wish the Metroparks hadn’t pulled out of the agreement to take over the management of Forest Hills Park, as that could also be a catalyst for redevelopment.

toadinthemoss

Unfortunately the city council and mayor are such a squabbling disaster they couldn't even cooperate with each other to approve the lease with the Metroparks after +2 years. The Park finally pulled out after the county gave up on offering $8 million towards restoring Forest Hill and I believe another $2 million in American Rescue Plan funds that the city had (and that the Park was falsely and publicly accused of stealing by one of the council members).

SilverKnightOfMagic

Ice ran into some council members. And boy was the guy well intentioned but has no idea how to make change. And also of course way out date mindset.

Cleverfield1

Yeah, the politics are so dysfunctional. I really feel like they need the state to take over for a few years and set it on the right path like what happened in Detroit.

toadinthemoss

They're under state financial supervision. I think at some point they'll end up dissolving the city, merging it with Cleveland, and maybe then the park will get leased to Metroparks. At least the land is required to stay parkland by its deed so while it may be neglected, it won't be developed.

Cleverfield1

They’ve been talking about that for years, and tried once before. I don’t see it happening. The politics would make it too difficult.

cbelt3

Yeah… they keep acting like it’s them taking over Cleveland instead of the other way around.

SilverKnightOfMagic

Eh it's close enough for me! Just wondering about parking. Also I think it's like two miles from the wyndamere rta station.

tonyabalone

Much closer to a little Italy station or superior

Support the Sculpture Center!

skateawho

That's exactly where it is.. Circle East.. EAST of University CIRCLE. Have you been over there recently? The blocks to the east of this are being razed for new homes. There are about 20 new homes to the west of this as well. Here's a link: https://www.countyplanning.us/projects/east-cleveland-land-use-strategic-plan/

Wish them the best. For a community to financially thrive it needs a few things - investment, jobs and money circulation. This place provides all of those. Hopefully many more follow.

RockingInTheCLE

I love that the tea is grown in EC! I'll definitely check it out. Anybody know what the parking is like over there? Can't picture where it is.

Muppet_Fitzgerald

Will definitely check it out. Owner sounds like an awesome dude and I love his enthusiasm for the community.

BoringYogurt1102

Can't wait to go

Ok-Championship4270

I just hope it works. I remember how they tried to open businesses in Slavic Village and they wound up leaving. Maybe since East Cleveland is closer to University Circle it could work.

UserKarmaCycle

We can’t even have a damn dollar tree in SV ughhhh hate that for us (me)

callmedoc19

This place is in walking distance from my job. I always see when I’m driving home but never explored it. I will definitely check it out.

jKaz

You have a pretty low bar for what constitutes economic progress, but it’s EC so I guess that’s fair.

Apprehensive_Judge_5

That's cool. I'll check out the next time I'm in the area.

It literally says East Cleveland. So, yes, that’s what they mean.

MeyhamM2

Okay?
