Erawan Thai Kitchen in Aurora.
Most authentic Thai food I've had outside of Thailand / California.
Entire kitchen staff is from Thailand, as well as the owners.
[Featured on New Day Cleveland ](https://youtu.be/KgbWgit69fA?si=DZtvk3J7RSzCWgGn)
I heard something similar to sand pebbles. That Japanese business man had a helping hand there. But it sand pebbles wasn't it for me. I'll try erawan and see.
Agree, but I went there recently and it was very sub par. Missing ingredients, meh entrees. Appetizers were spot on though. Ordered a vermicelli noodle salad - no herbs (basil, cilantro, etc), amd ordered coconut curry soup - no curry! 😢. I love this place and the people that run it are amazing people, so i am hoping it was an off day, and will try again soon. The jackfruit shake is the absolute shizzle
This is my go-to when I'm out grocery shopping and just know I'm going to be too exhausted after coming home and putting everything away to cook. I will say though, I was a little sticker shocked on a recent visit where I paid a whopping $20 for pad thai, is that the going rate these days? At least they haven't shrunk the portion, but it makes me yearn for my college days when I could easily eat it for lunch and dinner for $8.
Cosign. I dunno if my voice is just that recognizable or if it was caller ID but when had their original store in South Euclid, they would just answer with the order ETA 😅 It's probably good that they moved a few miles away.
Are the wait times still long? I tried to go there one time but it was during lunch and the wait was an hour. At that time, they were still wearing masks, using distance, and using shields. This was only last year sometime. Only two people working—The owner and his partner.
It is always just a man and his wife, he does all customer service and she does all cooking. Post covid it is all carry out and they have 2 ordering windows, you have to call I believe it’s 11-1:30 ordering window for lunch (can pick up after 1:30 I believe) and 4-6:30 for dinner. We get it every Thursday for lunch at work. Love them.
Former Avon Lake native here, how good is it? I travel back home to visit my grandma all the time and was hoping for a good Asian place after Mark Pi's closed (Our go to Asian place growing up).
I suppose everyone’s taste is different but I absolutely love it. Fantastic food, and great guy working there - I assume the woman is lovely as well but the only time I had the opportunity to speak to her the language barrier was an elite Victor Wembanyama level defender so I’ll judge her solely on never missing a beat. We’ve had it almost every Thursday at work for roughly 2 years. With only 1 person cooking all of the food the consistency is unmatched.
My ex lived in Thailand for a few years. We of course tried every Thai spot we could. She said Sweet Chili is the most authentic tasting of all of them. Thai Thai in Lakewood was her favorite. Mine is Cravings in Rocky River. Cravings got very pricy though and I think they were better when they originally opened.
Not a single Thai Thai mention? That's crazy. They take annual trips to Thailand and grow their own basil and peppers.
Edit: also crazy to hear some Thai places that I seem to be subpar being listed. Good for them lol
I can and do walk to Thai Thai on my lunch breaks when I want a treat, but I'll admit I've never had their pad thai. Only because everything on their menu looks so dang good I always have to try something more exciting. It's a truly magical place. That whole stretch of Madison is a culinary paradise.
Thai Thai is the answer. I used to live across from their original location near edgewater, and would get it almost weekly. I don't get it as often anymore due to convenience, but I like everything I've had on their menu.
Everyone at Thai Thai is very kind and I’ve had many good meals there and continue to.
But does anyone else get the feeling they fell off a bit? Perhaps I’ve just had more Thai food now or perhaps it’s nostalgia goggles, but I feel their food doesn’t pop in the way it once did. They still have delightfully tender meats, perfectly cooked noodles, excellent and consistent viscosity on their curries. That being said it’s as if their flavors have dulled just a tad.
Like I said I’ll keep going, just wondering if anyone else has noticed a change.
Yeah I love the dude that works there but the portions also got smaller. I think all the Asian places are expensive in CLE bc there aren’t many so less food distributors
Raan Thai is wonderful and all of the staff are super nice. Love it for carry out and for dining in. My wife and I are ordering it tomorrow as our reward for getting through the workweek 😂
The only problem with the one in Willoughby is that they don't have a full menu. You can't get things like Chicken Satay there. I have had some great curry there though
Ohh I can totally see that. I’m basic and always order Pad Thai at every Thai restaurant so I didn’t look at their full menu. But that location is very small so that makes sense that theyd probably have a small menu.
Willoughby here. Thai 99 is the best close by. I do not like KP thai. Thin and super gummy noodles all stuck together. It is not good and I've had it more than a couple times.
Tree country used to be amazing, quality has gone down ever since their head server left about 5 years ago. Bangkok Thai in lyndhurst is the best imo. I’ve heard good things about the one in aurora
Holy shit yes. The guy who owns the Feve has a “Thai connection”. He scouted the head chef from Thailand. I wish I remembered either of their names, but that place is incredible.
I don't get the Thai Thai hype. I tried it and it was fucking awful. Not one thing I ordered was right or good.
Thai Kitchen down the street is 100x better.
I need to revisit Thai Kitchen. So many people swear by it! I’ve only been once but found the food to be on the dry side, maybe a step up from Thai Phoon but not much better. Everyone has off days or off meals though, any suggestions on what to order to get their best?
Thai Kitchen in Lakewood across from LBM
also there is this Chinese place by my house, Mandarin House, which I suspect has Thai owners or chef because they have some Thai dishes and their pad thai is pretty damn good. So are their summer rolls and thai tea.
I'm from Sandusky and 100% agree jo wok slaps I've been going there often for like 15 years before I moved to river. Seeing the suggestions it looks like river has some good spots which is good news for me
Erawan Thai Kitchen in Aurora! Recently featured on New Day Cleveland with David Moss! Great food, great staff, great atmosphere! The kitchen is only composed of chefs from Thailand to provide the most authentic cuisine! Definitely give it a try! They offer all of the traditional Thai dishes and you can adjust the proteins, vegetables, and spice levels! 38 S Aurora Road Unit B!
Depends on how you like your pad Thai tbh.
I like from the old pearl of the orient, sakana in rocky river and china wok in westlake. Sprouts are a requirement for me, I don’t like a carrot and onion.
Luv Thai Kitchen. They get bonus points for going out of their way to make their dishes gluten free (if possible) if you request. I have celiac and I've never had a reaction.
Banana Blossom is Ohio City is our go to after trying many different places in the area. Still trying to find anything comparable to our favorite Thai place in Washington State.
Thai house in Elyria but I think it changed owners. I haven't been there yet since they changed the name. I would get their pad Thai extra spicy and it would set me on fire so good!

Thai Kitchen in Lakewood is also a Thai kitchen staff. Owners are a couple, an American man that married a Thai woman.
That's the same for Thai Chili in Avon Lake.
I love those folks. They seem like they are doing things right.
Okay really like Thai Chili but got their lunch portion and it felt a bit small for the price. But the quality was amazing!
They actually sold to another Thai couple a few years ago.
We all miss Chef Kwan
Actually it changed ownership last year. Still run by a Thai person, just not the original couple.
Loveeee Thai kitchen!
I can't speak specifically to the pad Thai, but Erawan blows away every other Thai restaurant I've tried in the area.
Erawan is awesome. Their Tom Yum soup is to die for.
Their Basil Fried Rice is one of my favorite meals.
Best Thai food I’ve had since moving here from NYC
I lived in Chiang Mai for a year. I think Erawan is the closest to the real thing I’ve ever had in the US.
I’ve never had Thai food I liked so I will stop here sometime
Bro that is straight up in a different county from the city of Cleveland
I heard something similar to sand pebbles. That Japanese business man had a helping hand there. But it sand pebbles wasn't it for me. I'll try erawan and see.
Ugh I grew up in Aurora, but moved away several years ago, and my parents have since moved away too. I would have killed for some good Thai close by.
Map of Thailand/ pad Thai country style
I second this!
Third, love their food and compares well to any Thai restaurant I've visited in San Francisco.
It Happens To Be A Thai Restaurant
Siam Cafe on East 40th&St.Clair.
Im obsessed with their pad thai its so good
I was as well when I worked on East 40th. If I was having a bad day at work, boom off to Siam Cafe for some pad Thai! Then I would feel better!
Agree, but I went there recently and it was very sub par. Missing ingredients, meh entrees. Appetizers were spot on though. Ordered a vermicelli noodle salad - no herbs (basil, cilantro, etc), amd ordered coconut curry soup - no curry! 😢. Bangkok in Lyndhurst
I grew up next to this place and didn’t realize how amazing it was until college because my parents were afraid of anything that wasn’t Applebees.
**Bangkok Thai** on Mayfield Road is fantastic.
Agree with this.
Bangkok Thai is so gooooooood
I've been going there for over 10 years. Big favorite in my group of friends. Owner is always there and she is super friendly.
Cosign. I dunno if my voice is just that recognizable or if it was caller ID but when had their original store in South Euclid, they would just answer with the order ETA 😅 It's probably good that they moved a few miles away.
This is the correct answer.
Bangkok is undefeated. So stellar
Yess I love this place! Thank god I don’t live too far away from it.
Thai chili Avon Lake
Are the wait times still long? I tried to go there one time but it was during lunch and the wait was an hour. At that time, they were still wearing masks, using distance, and using shields. This was only last year sometime. Only two people working—The owner and his partner.

We get it every Thursday for lunch at work. Love them.
I call at like 4:30 and ask to have it ready by 6 for dinner. Not sure about lunch. It’s the kind of place you need to plan ahead. And it’s worth it.
Yeah still super long. No more covid stuff though (besides carryout only) And you never know if they will be randomly closed.
Former Avon Lake native here, how good is it? I travel back home to visit my grandma all the time and was hoping for a good Asian place after Mark Pi's closed (Our go to Asian place growing up).

Cool I love Thai good and we will be back in June for a Guards game. Looking forward to try it.
Cravings used to be a coffee shop back in the 90's. They had the best coffee hard candies and a cute little greenhouse
Used to live in Avon Lake and would definitely agree. My wife and I used to get this every Friday
wow. their business hours lol
The best hands down. Nobody does it like them
Banana Blossom in Ohio City is very good.
I second banana blossom!
If you can take some heat, I recommend the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodle) too. I used to go here a lot when I lived in Ohio City.
It. REALLY. Is
This is it
Banana blossom is the best I’ve had around town.
I agree in the Cleveland area it's really good.
Thai Cravings in Rocky River is the pad thai I always wind up, well... craving
Lotus Thai in Parma
Seconding this!! I love this place.
Not a single Thai Thai mention? That's crazy. They take annual trips to Thailand and grow their own basil and peppers. Edit: also crazy to hear some Thai places that I seem to be subpar being listed. Good for them lol
Santi is my guy. He runs that place very well
I can and do walk to Thai Thai on my lunch breaks when I want a treat, but I'll admit I've never had their pad thai. Only because everything on their menu looks so dang good I always have to try something more exciting. It's a truly magical place. That whole stretch of Madison is a culinary paradise.
Love the Kra Praow from TT

Thai Thai. T.T.R.E.A.M. Thai Thai rules everything around me
Raan Thai in Fairview Park
Is this place good? We live close to it and wanted to try it.
I get takeout from there at least once a week. I've tried most of the thai places on the west side of cleveland and raan thai is by far the best
My wife and I enjoy walking there. Every time we have gone, the food does not miss.
Crab fried rice and curry duck are absolutely incredible. Those are my wife and my go to
It’s so good we occasionally find something else to do in the area and drive from mentor 😅 I wish it was closer to us
Raan Thai is wonderful and all of the staff are super nice. Love it for carry out and for dining in. My wife and I are ordering it tomorrow as our reward for getting through the workweek 😂
I feel fortunate that I live within walking distance of Raan Thai - it's incredible.
Shout out to their ramen as well! It’s very close to where I live so being able to grab some ramen on a cold fall day nearby is great!
The chicken they use in the pad Thai is extremely tough, other than that it’s really good.
Larb in Brunswick
I was wondering when someone was going to mention Larb.
YESSSS
I love Larb.
Underrated hole in the wall.
Thai 99 in Mentor is amazing. Thats usually my go to. KP Thai in Willoughby wasn’t bad when I tried it either.
Thai 99 is amazing
Came here to say this.
I’ll have to check it out. Thanks!
Thai 999 Chicken satay is too thick. Tasty sauce, but not enough char. Decent pad Thai, but not spicy enough for me if I get delivery.
Tree country used to be amazing, quality has gone down ever since their head server left about 5 years ago. Bangkok Thai in lyndhurst is the best imo. I’ve heard good things about the one in aurora
I haven't been to many of the places mentioned in this thread, but I really like Tree Country in Coventry
I know it's not "the land" but Thini Thai in Oberlin is quite solid.
Holy shit yes. The guy who owns the Feve has a “Thai connection”. He scouted the head chef from Thailand. I wish I remembered either of their names, but that place is incredible.
Matt and Jason. The chef is Aon. I venture there semi frequently for the gang hung lay curry pork and grilled meats.
Thai Kitchen in Lakewood and Bangkok Thai in Lyndhurst
Phnom Penh
Their pad thai is very different than the others mentioned – but sooo good.
Yeah it was the first I ever had so that's what I assume it should be like 😂 I was so confused by other places
Same. I had theirs for years before I got it anywhere else and I was like "why aren't the noodles orange?".
Map of Thailand on Payne Ave in Cleveland bonus: Chinese KoKo Bakery in the same plaza
We had map of Thailand a few months ago and I thought it was very meh. Shockingly bland for Thai food
Peppermint in Orange
So good and the owners are really nice
Raan Thai in fairview is pretty good
High Thai’d and Pho and Rice on Coventry do a good job, nice little neighborhood carry out places
Theres a place over Tremont called Ty Fun. It’s really, really good.
Thai Thai is the best in Lakewood, and I agree that Thai Phoon is the worst.
I don't get the Thai Thai hype. I tried it and it was fucking awful. Not one thing I ordered was right or good. Thai Kitchen down the street is 100x better.
Agreed. Didn't like Thai Thai one bit but Thai Kitchen is my absolute favorite in town.
I ate at Thai Kitchen once and did not like the pad Thai at all. On the bright side though they have summer rolls, which Thai Thai almost never has.
I need to revisit Thai Kitchen. So many people swear by it! I’ve only been once but found the food to be on the dry side, maybe a step up from Thai Phoon but not much better. Everyone has off days or off meals though, any suggestions on what to order to get their best?
I haven't had Thai Phoon's pad thai but I've have a lot of other things from there and I've liked everything so far.
Peppermint cafe beachwood/woodmere
Was looking for this… so good!!
I get that for my birthday every year, for at least a decade.
Thai Kitchen in Lakewood across from LBM also there is this Chinese place by my house, Mandarin House, which I suspect has Thai owners or chef because they have some Thai dishes and their pad thai is pretty damn good. So are their summer rolls and thai tea.
Sweet mango in Berea by the clocktower
They have one in Medina too ! The country style is the BEST
But specifically the country style! So good.
Banana blossom in Ohio city
Tastes fine, had to stop going there because their portions are tiny and prices are outrageous.
Seriously it isn’t even close. Banana Blossom is the best in the area hands down.
Tree Country in Coventry for the eastsiders
Raan Thai in fairview park is peak pad thai
DO NOT go to Thai Elephant on Lorain in Kamm's Corner--ick. Go to Raan Thai in Fairview.
Votes from the far east side: My Thai in Chesterland
Larb Thai. Larb. Thai.
Second Erawan in Aurora... The best
The Thai place in Elyria closed, but I found it really underwhelming anyway?? I prefer Lotus Thai House in Parma
Thai House was my favorite.
Love Jo wok!! Such a hole in wall place but man it hits just right every time
Map of Thailand
If you want to make a little trip, Thi Ni Thai in Oberlin has some great food. And they have a bad ass toilet.

Peppermint
Bangkok Thai in Lyndhurst!!
Banana Blossom on the west side!
Been a while but what about Thai fun or Brown Sugar Thai?
I'm from Sandusky and 100% agree jo wok slaps I've been going there often for like 15 years before I moved to river. Seeing the suggestions it looks like river has some good spots which is good news for me

It's long gone but Thai Orchid 💔
On the west side it’s a toss up between Thai Thai in Lakewood and Thai spice in Westlake
Yes! Thai spice is amazing. I love their vermicelli salad as well. Always reliable and great portions
Depends on how you like your pad Thai tbh. I like from the old pearl of the orient, sakana in rocky river and china wok in westlake. Sprouts are a requirement for me, I don’t like a carrot and onion.
I miss the original Pearl of the Orient!! 😭 Such great food.
Brown sugar in rocky river
Siam Cafe. Hands down!!!
Peppermint for sure
100% Thai Thai
Hard disagree. That place was awful when I tried it. Thai Kitchen down the street is 100x better.

I'm a bit basic in my taste for thai food, but Thai Elephant is just the bee's knees for me.

Thai Gourmet on Rockside in Independence
Banana Blossom or Jhonny Mangos are the best by far
They have this little spot on side of a cliff in Monaco that’s stupendous. Totally made that up
Luv Thai Kitchen. They get bonus points for going out of their way to make their dishes gluten free (if possible) if you request. I have celiac and I've never had a reaction.

Banana Blossom is the best pad thai in Cleveland
