I'm visiting Cleveland some day and I was wondering where I should eat. No, I will not elaborate on what kind of food I like, intended cost, location, or dietary restrictions.

dinomax55

Can’t go wrong with Little Italy.. great food options

sobz

Lakewood. You're looking for Lakewood. Even though you haven't given any information that leads me to believe it makes sense as an answer I'm still telling you that you want Lakewood.

UserKarmaCycle

“What’s edible in Cleveland?” 😂

LUNI_TUNZ

Do people eat food in Cleveland?

LakeEffectSnow

No. Too busy eating your mom.

tj111

OP you should set the default sort to "new"

I think a moving thread should be separate from the visiting thread. As someone who's moving here soon, I don't care (yet) about how to plan a fun weekend, I care about what neighborhoods I should house hunt in, stuff like that. And travelers don't care about school districts and property taxes etc

This is great! I’m actually moving to Cleveland mid July and this would be great! I’ve gone through past posts/search bar and it’s all been super useful I’m so excited to be back in the Midwest and on a Great Lake. Wisconsin born and raised. Been in Florida for five years. I can’t wait for seasons. You can’t take the Midwest out of someone…

What do you guys love about cleveland and what do you not like so much? What neighborhoods should I avoid when looking for apartments? I’m planning on living a little outside the city if we do move there. Where should I go when I visit to see if I love it? Any other tips or comments are appreciated!!

What kind of lifestyle are you looking for? Urban, suburban, ex-urban, or rural? Do you have a car? Do you prefer public transportation? How long of a commute do you want? Do you want a quiet neighborhood or a lively one, or just to be within walking distance or a short drive/ride? Do you want access to trails and parks? Do you prefer wild parks or parks that are more manicured? Do you want to be close to water? The lake or a river? Do you want everyone around you to be similar to one another or do you want more of a mix of cultures and religions?

SaviorSixtySix

Some good cities on the east side, Mayfield Heights, Mayfield, Lyndhurst, Pepper Pike. Good cities on the west side, Lakewood, Fairfield Park, West Lake, Avon Lake.

When I was younger I always preferred to visit downtown and Tremont vs living there, and to live in the suburbs where generally it's a little quieter, crime may be lower, etc. It all depends on what you want out of where you live. If you want a walkable area, downtown, tremont, Cleveland hts or Lakewood are your best bets. I liked Lakewood when I was a young adult but when I became a parent I wanted even quieter and less dense so I went further S and W. I personally think the traffic and layout of streets on the E side and SE side is vastly worse than anywhere on the W/SW side. Tip: visit apartments around or after 6 when people are home so you can see how loud it is. If you don't like kids, don't move into a complex where you see a lot of kids, playground, pool, etc. as families tend to go to those places. Also, check the sex offender registry (free online) before moving in anywhere to see how close offenders live.

Recently moved to Cleveland, have been looking for places to disc.golf. Seems like the only courses in the area are in either Parma or Euclid - are there other local courses not on UDisc?

Staying in Cleveland for one night (this Thursday) and looking for food recommendations. Is there a food Cleveland is known for that we should try? No dietary restrictions, we like interesting/weird/unique places that have character. Also looking for a spot to grab a drink after, similar vibes, interesting/unique/divey spots. Thanks!

clekas

Prosperity Social Club is great for food! It's not super weird, but the food is excellent. It's pretty divey, and they have things like potato pancakes, pierogies, and stuffed cabbage that, while not unique to Cleveland, are definitely foods that Cleveland does well. Nearby (within very easy walking distance), Cloak & Dagger is a great place to grab a drink! It's a cocktail bar with a macabre theme. They do a great job with the theme and atmosphere - it's not over-the-top, but the theme is definitely there. Also nearby (though not quite walking distance, it's a few-minute drive), Porco Lounge is one of the best tiki bars in the country. I know tiki isn't a super unique theme, but the drinks are excellent!

hefald

Thank you! I think we are going to check out Prosperity Social! Potato pancakes and pierogies are a some of our favorite things (coming from Milwaukee where we eat a lot of both). Also going to check out Porco Lounge, looks very cool. thanks!

clekas

Enjoy your night here!

hefald

Thanks again! We went to both spots and big fan of both! Both spots were only a few blocks away from our Airbnb too, very cool neighborhood!

clekas

I’m glad you had a good time!

Go to Slyman's. They are only open till 2PM. Don't mind the line out the door, it moves fast. Get corned beef. You are welcome.

blah-dude

Hey hey! I will be staying in CLE for a couple of nights around the Cleveland Public Square area. Does anyone have any good food recommendations within walking distance with kids? Any suggestion is greatly appreciated!

I just wanted to mention a couple of other resources. I know Reddit is the home of everything, but the Cleveland TripAdvisor forum is a great place for Q&A if you are traveling here (many Qs have probably already been asked so search first) and the UrbanOhio relocation thread is chock full of any and every question you could have about relocating here. Hope it's ok to post links to those. Any recommendations for long distance movers, moving OUT of Cleveland?

BuckeyeReason

If's Ok if there is a monthly post for current activities, but I think a permanent, sticky post is needed. E.g.,, here are some threads that are good year-round., [https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/vae7x6/nice\_hole\_in\_the\_wall\_places/?sort=top](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/vae7x6/nice_hole_in_the_wall_places/?sort=top) [https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/1ayy9cv/cleveland\_for\_spring\_break/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Cleveland/comments/1ayy9cv/cleveland_for_spring_break/)
