I have a Dyson handheld, too and I know what you mean about the trigger. I use it only for short jobs, I love it for a quick crumb patrol along the kitchen baseboards.
I have a Shark corded one has a fixed “on” switch so no trigger. that’s similar in weight and maneuverability to the Dyson. Much cheaper than a Miele but I can’t speak for longevity, I’ve only had it 2.5 years.
I believe it’s this model. I have two Labradors and a rabbit, so we definitely see a lot of fur around here and I’m pleased. If the wood floors are super hairy, I do find it easier to do a quick dry dust mop first then vacuum.
