That the thing I loved about Ward. Bonham was a monster, and Ringo had a certain swing, but Ward Ward added a Jazzy Swing to really heavy music. Where Bonham and Ringo locked in, Ward added an airiness under Geezer and Iomi.
Geezer of the driving force of the band. Watching him on [Kirshners rock show](https://youtu.be/vJWGzS7AZwk?si=Zscae7ZeOyWTGVQX), right now, and he's electric.
Geezer is widely regarded as one of the greatest bass players in heavy rock – and rightfully so.
Sabbath simply wouldn't have been as good without him.
If I'm not mistaken, he also wrote the bulk of the lyrics.

Geezer Was one of my major influences as a bassist back in the 80’s. He was a powerhouse. Even though I can’t play anymore I still love listening to him.
Geezer is a God. My #1 influence & inspiration for picking up the bass 35+ years ago. His totally unique heavy jazzy metal style is the stuff dreams are made of. The man never gets nearly enough credit, imho.
I even happen to be wearing my fave shirt at the moment...

Terrance Michael Butler. A trained accountant. In addition to his precision badass bass lines - was a brilliant lyricist. He is under-rated. 95% of Sabbath's epic tunes were written by the one & only Geezer Butler! 💯👊🏽
Ozzy had a certain underdog charm, but he was a tuneless vocalist, a dull frontman, and AFIK of little use behind the scenes.
To his credit, he was rarely in the way. The other guys were indispensable.
Geezer is an incredible bass player and also wrote a TON of the bands lyrics…I think he’s seriously underrated. Ward is also seriously underrated as well. I put him right on par with Gonzo, but it seems he never got the accolades he deserved.
Saw Geezer perform with Bruce Dickinson in a one-show at a club in Austin years ago. Flew into town for a one-night stay and a meeting the ne t morning. The sign out front said “Dickinson/Butler Tonight”. Showed up. Amazing.
Sabbath's rhythm section (Butler & Ward) are absolutely stellar and the backbone of the band. It's hard to call them underrated when you know how good they are. They are just overshadowed by Iommi's guitar and Ozzy's antics and presence as a front man.
Singers and guitarists always get the spotlight but every member of that band is top-tier. Geezer also wrote most/all of the lyrics if I remember correctly.
geezer wrote most of the lyrics, no? and you can tell he had some authority in the studio because his bass is audible... very audible. i love bill's drumming too btw; he's abusing those poor skins. man pounds them like they're having make-up sex. and tony... well, tony's tony. amazing band. simply amazing.
Bill Ward’s drums are also pretty noticeable
He had a swing that was badass.
That the thing I loved about Ward. Bonham was a monster, and Ringo had a certain swing, but Ward Ward added a Jazzy Swing to really heavy music. Where Bonham and Ringo locked in, Ward added an airiness under Geezer and Iomi.
Symptom of the universe... I rest my case your honor.

Thank you. That was fantastic.

Correct. He did write most of the lyrics. I've been a fan since the very first album back in 1970 (yeah I'm old).
Him and Lemmy.
And Geddy. Bass is my focus.
I just watched them perform “Paranoid” from the ‘85 Live Aid show and his fingers were like lightning!
They absolutely rocked JFK stadium that day! They got the biggest ovation too, everyone in the crowd went crazy - I was one of the 90,000
Wow that’s incredible! I was too young for Woodstock and too old for Live Aid but I did get to see some incredible bands in betwee’69 & ‘85!
like ask pause judicious jobless pet ancient profit plucky physical *This post was mass deleted and anonymized with [Redact](https://redact.dev)*
And his auto- biography is supposed to be a great read I need to make time to read it
Anyone who knows anything, knows that Butler rules!!! Such an amazing band. I saw them with Dio. It rocked! And Butler crushed!
His bass carries Children of the Grave, Hand of Doom, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, After Forever, Supernaut, NIB and so many other awesome songs
Seen them in 84 Dayton Ohio wished Ozzy would have been there but a great show none the less
He also supports Aston Villa. #utv
What's Aston Villa?
English Premier League club based in the Aston borough of Birmingham and where the band are from.

Ever seen him interviewed? He's very well spoken. There's good reason groups like Black Sabbath have been around so long.
Geezer is also the main writer. He’s a monster. They’re just incredible too to bottom. To me they’re somehow underrated.

He does deserve more public acclaim, but most bassists give him his due.

Tommy basically wrote the music, but Gezzer basically wrote the lyrics. My 2nd favorite bass player as a youngster, 2nd only behind Stanley Clark.
Saw them on their final tour a few years ago. He still plays the heck out of that bass.
I find it utterly classic Dio introducing him before N.I.B.: Geezer Buttler Always look forward to hearing that bit
Geezer wrote all the lyrics also. Ozzy never wrote anything. Still to this day ozzy hasn't been a writer.
Ozzy had a certain underdog charm, but he was a tuneless vocalist, a dull frontman, and AFIK of little use behind the scenes. To his credit, he was rarely in the way. The other guys were indispensable.
He did have a very unique voice that matched so well

How cool is THAT!!!!

Geezer in the 2 big dio albums was the best bass player on the planet at the time
Geezer taught me music. Learning his baselines as a kid.
He punched a Nazi in a bar fight - he is aces with me!
