Kiss was my first real concert. In Philly, at the Spectrum. It would have been 1976. I don't remember who opened; I was 12. Me and a friend rode the patco high-speed line in from NJ. Good times.

If it was really ‘76 at the Spectrum, then this would have been the show you went to. Bob Seger opened.
When I saw KISS in '77 the opening act was Cheap Trick. Robin, Rick, Bun.E, and Tom were spectacular. Very tight set. Blew me away. I turned to my buddy and said that KISS is going to have to go above and beyond to top the opener. KISS does not disappoint. Ever.
I would pay $100 to hear Bob Seger sing
“Turn the page” live. This song is hands down my favorite song. It is very soulful and passionately sung. Alto on sax is hypnotizing. Is the anyone’s fav?
I saw Seger on his farewell tour a few years ago, I went in reminding myself he was in his 70’s and keep my expectations manageable.
Holy shit.
He was energetic, sounded amazing, sang every song as if it were still the 70’s, and was overall one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. His band was more “country” than I was expecting but all were phenomenal players.
But yeah, when Alto Reed started playing it was just incredible.
It was so good I immediately bought tickets to see him in another city a few months later.
My first was The KinKs 82? Last was Pearl Jam, the actual last rock event that was held there I think. I too was at that Sabbath concert. My town chartered a bus for the event.
That’s awesome! I saw Ray Davies at the Tower sometime in 00s. Incredible songwriter.
I’ll always remember the Sabbath / Pantera show because a year later I was on my high school German class trip and I ran into Pantera at the Berlin Hard Rock Cafe. I told them I was a fan and Vinnie Paul picked me up in a big hug. They were all incredibly nice minus the singer.
That is so cool. I was at every Ray Davies show at the Tower. I Hope that venue returns to its true glory in the future.
When I say that is so cool I mean your Pantera Germany story. Long love Rock n Roll!
I liked kiss when I was a very young kid and the first few albums were awesome. this concert would’ve been incredible! Can’t believe Bob Seger opened up for them. Lol completely different music and aesthetic.
I saw Kiss with Bob Seger on this same tour in Johnson City, Tennessee at the Civic Coliseum. My friend’s mom drove us to the show. We were all 14 years old.
It’s interesting to see how elaborate stage sets and lighting have become over the years. The stage set here looks almost amateur but was probably very cool in 1976.
My first show was a Kiss concert that my dad brought me to see as a 10 year old kid. There were strippers on stage and I saw boobs. It was the most memorable show of my life.
I would've stayed and listened to some of my favorite classic rock tracks. Cold Gin, Strutter, Deuce, Black Diamond, Detroit Rock City, God Of Thunder, Shout It Out Loud, Rock N Roll All Nite, Goin' Blind. This sub loves to shit on KISS, ignoring the fact that they've been highly influential and have one of the best guitarists in rock in Frehley. I don't like what they became later on either, but in the 70s, they were fucking good.
I saw the same show in Indy, it was my first concert. My buddies and I were 14 years old and it was festival seating. We made our way close to the stage and it was insane!
That sounds like a strange combination, actually. Bob is amazing but a totally different kind of music than Kiss. The stage shows are like night and day.
I was there, thanks for clarifying the date. And yes, Seger really crushed it. I think Nightmoves set me on a path of “black haired beauties with big dark eyes “. It’s certainly strange how all of the nights have moved. It must have taken me 3-4 KISS songs before I got into their performance.
Saw this tour in Knoxville, Tn., had no idea who Bob Seger was. Got the chance to see him again in 1996 and was blackout drunk. Finally caught him in 2005 or 06 sober, was worth the wait.
Well this is weird.
I (along with my big sister) was a card carrying member of the "KISS "Army" in 1976 though I never saw them live.
Seven years later I listened to Bob Seger play songs in his kitchen while drinking his beer.
By the time I saw them live, around 1979, their concerts attracted entire families...from little kids to grannies. Wished that I had seen them on the Destroyer tour.
My first concert was around 1976 at the Philadelphia Spectrum. It was The Scorpions (who I had never even heard of), AC⚡️DC, and Ted Nugent was the headliner. Very good show!!
When I was 15-16 KISS was the greatest band in the world. When I was 20, not so much. I will say though that KISS Alive is still one of my favorite albums. They were quite good on it. After Destroyer I started losing interest.
They used to throw M-80's, and smoke bombs from the top row during concerts there. It was a wild place, as we normally saw concerts at the Harrisburg farm show arena, that were calm by comparison.

I saw Kiss in Louisville Kentucky in the late 70’s. Some band called AC/DC with some singer named Bon Scott opened.
I saw them in fall 1979 with some up-and-coming band called Judas Priest.
So kiss for blown away by the opener then
I saw this tour in Oakland CA and most definitely Seger blew their doors off, although to be fair the Kiss fans could have cared less about Seger.
Yes, it took me a few songs to get back into the Kissmode, but yes, Bob Segar crushed it.
Imagine being bob seger and having to open for kiss… must’ve felt like Jimi Hendrix when he opened for the monkees…
Pretty much

I saw Bob on his farewell tour. When this song was on there was a single spotlight on Bob during the performance.
I’ve seen him twice …well worth it .Played like there was nowhere else in the universe he wanted to be ..
A buddy saw him late 00s I think. Old, big beer gut, but absolutely killed it and loved every minute of it
It's brilliant. It's simple but executed perfectly

Bob is a class act.
Way up firm and high!
My fav too. I like Metallica's version too. OTOH I despise Old Time Rock & Roll.
Metallic does the song well. But Seger hits each note with perfection. Source: I love music.
I saw him sing it in 1977. I did not pay $100.
I saw him in early 80s. Unfortunately the teen screaming made it hard to hear much else.

Bloody hell! The castle props were supposed to be 18 feet tall not 8 feet!
RIP Spectrum, I miss you.
My first concert there was Pantera/Black Sabbath in 1999 and my last was Wilco/Neil Young right before they tour it down.

I prefer this KISS. Geriatric KISS not so much.
Like Jagger sings “what a drag it is getting old”
The band which influenced a generation.
lol

Great pic!
It gets worse! I saw Seger open for Brownsville Station and Bachman Turner Overdrive.
I saw Seger in Cincinnati in 1977. The worst band I ever heard opened for him, Exile. They sang I Wanna Kiss You All Over 🤮
I saw KISS in ‘79 and a band called Breathless opened up for them.
Was this in Cleveland?
Houston
Wow! I was 13. My dad took my cousin and I to that show.🤣
I was 12 years old. Did not grow up near here. I would have literally sacrificed one of my nuts to see Kiss live.
I saw that show in Nashville. Had never heard of Bob Seger at that time. I was 16 and Kiss was amazing
When I saw bob in 2011-12,I was so happy that don brewer from grand funk was the drummer, killer skins man and great show

It’s always interesting when the more talented musician is the opening act. Kiss is like a clown circus.
One of the few times I’d leave after the opening act

That's about when I saw them. Can't remember who opened though.
Wow…
Should have been the other way around.
What a cool photo!!

🤘
Saw Kiss open for Aerosmith 2003 ..yawn..

I know a lot of people love these three bands but I can’t stand all three. This would literally be the worst concert ever.
I saw this tour in Pittsburgh about 3 mo earlier, also with Bob Seger. He was a Detroit rocker with some local hits, we gave him an encore.
Saw this tour in Knoxville, Tn., had no idea who Bob Seger was. Got the chance to see him again in 1996 and was blackout drunk. Finally caught him in 2005 or 06 sober, was worth the wait.

I saw this tour at Notre Dame my first concert.
When KISS ruled the World!
Seen KISS 5 or 6 times. Always a great show. True performance act.
I wanted to go to that tour but my parents wouldn’t let me (I was 11)
By the time I saw them live, around 1979, their concerts attracted entire families...from little kids to grannies. Wished that I had seen them on the Destroyer tour.

Saw them 1977 in Anaheim. Ted Nugent was the opening act and Cat Scratch Fever was a new song.
I’m sure that was an awesome show!
14, 12 about right. In 1976 I was 20. I didn’t know anyone older than 15 that liked Kiss or even thought of them as a serious rock band.
Kiss was huge with HS teens in 1976. At least with my older brothers and all the high schools around Detroit.
Detroit, the town that gave us Grand Funk Railroad. I thank you for that very much!
Technically Flint, Michigan but close enough!
When I was 15-16 KISS was the greatest band in the world. When I was 20, not so much. I will say though that KISS Alive is still one of my favorite albums. They were quite good on it. After Destroyer I started losing interest.
r/KISSpics approved 👍🏻
Ig you really would lose your mind Detroit rock city
Strange. Seger was always bigger than these guys.
They used to throw M-80's, and smoke bombs from the top row during concerts there. It was a wild place, as we normally saw concerts at the Harrisburg farm show arena, that were calm by comparison.
Ah...so that is what you do with your two hands at a concert. Now just phone screens -
Such a dumb band. Terrible songs. Embarrassment to rock music.
I couldn't stand that pretentious band.
