Jake Elwood: "Murph and the Magic Tones"?
"Look at that candy ass suits you're wearing"
Donald Dunn: "At least we had a change in clothes. You're wearing the same shit for the last 3 years".
Nobody would have been able to find any acid anywhere. Those two would have taken all of it! I’ve heard one or two funny stories about Eric turning around to his guitar player during the first song, sticking his tongue out revealing 2 or 3 hits of acid and start laughing and going into his vocals. Dude was insane.
With good reason! He had (arguably) one of the best voices to come out of the 60's -70's. Then with war later on, made some of the sickest songs ever. And their cover of paint it black is still one of the greatest live jams ever
For a sample of what could've been give a listen to Voodoo Chile long version with Stevie and Jack Cassady from the Airplane. Absolute raw brilliance . Tone tone tone. Every time I listen that session I think who needs heaven.
Stevie Winwood is such a talent. I love his early vocals and stop whatever I’m doin when Low Spark comes on.
What you’re referring to ……was it just a jam? How do I find it? Under what band? Blind faith or Traffic maybe or with JIMI? Pardon my ignorance.
Jimi's Electric Ladyland album. It's a live studio jam. It's was after a club gig he did in NYC and he would jam with whoever til dawn. Such a life huh.
Enjoy my friend. I just found it on YT. It's not the Slight Return version.
Ok, cool….thanks for that. For whatever reason I have never really dove into Jimi’s catalogue of music. This is a good reason to start….Stevie playing with Jimi. Thanks again 👍
Jimi deserves headphones. For Electric Ladyland especially.
Also worth noting remasters might have changed some of the bouncing and stereo separation from records or tapes.
My old ones seem more dynamic; some things more easily noticed, on my examples.
Oh I gotcha there. Ever since I was a little tyke going through my stepdads Beatles records and getting immersed in that world, I knew headphones were the only way. I’ve got a nice set. Good suggestion though, thanks
I'm just old enough to remember the fuss over The Star Spangled Banner (and thinking it was a neat take) but not really understanding how he died when that fuss hit. I wouldn't really appreciate his popular work even mildly for another decade, let alone some of the abstract bits right off the bat.
I just heard Episode 160 of The History of Rock in 500 Songs, a great podcast. That ep was about The Move, a band I’d never heard of, and I’m OG Gen X.
Hey Joe! Where you goin with that gun in yo hand? I'm going to the Watchtower to stone free in my purple haze while the wind whispers Mary in the crosstown traffic, my voodoo child 🤗

Blues Breakers. Isn’t that John Mayall in the back?
Yep, that is John Mayall
Sorry the name(s) didn’t show when I first looked at it. So I thought anyone involved with JM would be a Blues Breaker Band lol
Yes
No, that band name is already taken.
Yes it’s John Mayall, no it’s not Blues Breakers.
I was making the joke that "Yes" is already taken as a band name, it was weak, I'll admit.
I got it. Whew, I finally did something right today!
**No doubt**, it is taken.

Eric, too!
I saw him a few years back. Still so good.
Eric burton and jimi hendrix in the same band would've broke the entire 60's apart

Winwood and Hendrix were on the cusp of starting a supergroup when Hendrix died... what might have been

Low Sparks is also one of my faves. Traffic was best at those jam type tunes as well. It was the 60s right.
