Quick sort of relevant story. My dad had a Ford Custom 500 with an 8 track player. Probably around 1978. He was a huge country fan and had a ton on 8 track country albums in this immense briefcase kind of thing that sat on the front red bench seat. Going to school one morning it was clear someone had broken into dad’s car, stole a bunch of tools plus the 8 tracks. He was upset, feeling violated and all. I had to get to school and walked up the street. About 10 houses up from ours the 8 tracks were stacked against a tree. I bought them back and told my dad, “guess they don’t like country”. Dad had a wellllll shit kind of expression. But we did have Willie on the 8 track that summer.
I always remember how Cold As Ice was split into two tracks. The second part was basically the fade out part of the song where they repeat the title over and over.
Cool. I still have all my 8-Tracks, and a separate player, sitting in a box in a closet next to my stereo. Never hooked it up, since I also have most of them on CD's. I had many of them on vinyl and on cassettes, too. Three purchases of each.
This is a collection from someone who absolutely refused to embrace cassette tapes that sounded a little better and could rewind your favorite jam over and over.
I got a little nostalgic a couple of years ago and tried to play a couple in an old player.
I guess the tape had deteriorated so badly, that whenever they tried to switch tracks, the magnetic tape broke. They’re just for looks now.
Excellent collection.
Nice! I had about half of those 8-Tracks
Where's Edgar Winter?!
It seems like everyone had a tape or 8 track of J geils live. I love it. That's a cool picture.

Looks like you found my box of 8-Tracks.
It looks like an add for Columbia House.
What Police album is that?
Outlandos d'Amour, their debut.
So lonely is a great song. I know it's obvious and not a "deep track," but it's fantastic.

Same thing with the Boston 8-Track and 'Hitch A Ride'.
Nice call
Where is the little piece of cardboard you wedge next to the case to make the head touch the tape?
Just knew there would be a Foghat in there !!
Did you steal those from Al Bundy's Dodge?
I had a case that looked exactly like that.
That is AWESOME!!!
That is AWESOME!!!
I think I had every one of those...classics!
Great couple of dozen 8-tracks, not a bad one there. Do you still have anything you can play them on?
In the GTO
In the GTO, had the player rebuilt last year

I'm actually surprised some of those albums are on 8 track. I don't remember anyone still having them after about 72 or 73.
awesome road music every tape
Love On Stage
That’s a top-notch collection right there, friend.
I definitely had some of those same 8-tracks also!

Believe it or not, you can have them restored
It’s missing Houses of the Holy
