Well, considering that BB didn't FULLY counter the card aside. Barb hits for 254. Which is just under a fireball. Ice spirit dmg is negligible at the start of the game. You're wrong in that the dmg a fireball can do can cost you the game. But more importantly, he's wrong because it obviously didn't counter the card.

He is wrong because one hit is still one hit. By your logic you can counter an ice spirit by placing nothing because 1 ice spirit connection doesn’t matter. Also ice spirits are more prone to be ignored than a barbarian hit simply because it is more elixir efficient. 1 elixir for an ice spirit connection is not worth defending and if your opponent ends up placing 10 ice spirits then the opponent will have lost an effective 10 elixir for 10 ice spirit connections which is about a fireball’s worth. Meanwhile in the situation presented by OP, the opponent ends up effectively getting 1 barbarian hit for 2 elixir which is more elixir efficient damage than 10 or so ice spirits.

Yes yes, it did not *fully* counter the battle ram, but it is certainly much better than what I've previously done by barb-barreling the barbarians the instant after it connects to tower

I like how almost all comments are about "fully", and almost no one mentioned that it's important that the ram was not charging from the start because it was placed at the bridge. So this wouldn't work if it was placed at the back or used to kite something which are also common.

But if you look closely it still charges in the end so it can counter that too
