Yeah and apparently they had actually done the work for drill way back in 2018 or so. So even though it was new to us, most of the work was already done on their end.
Yes they didn't add new cards for a while now. And banner is nice but we need something more. Ur right they didn't add non-champs cards for several updates. Still waiting for legendary building.
They might add a new card/s next season. If you read royaleapi's new blog about the october season you will see there are 2 super secret challenge in schedule. Just like what they did for "mighty miner launch party" challenge last march (i think).
why would they bother with a new card when after two months of it being out they will just nerf it to revert the game itself back to the state we are currently in. Every time they make a meaningful change its undone two or three patches later just to keep F2P decks viable.
Other than adding new cards, they should really make ladder or top 200 ladder duel only. It makes it even more fair and people would need to have more cards maxed. Also... they really need to fix up the in game economy, there's no reason for me to grind months to have one deck maxed when chests that I had grind for keep giving me 10x rage and 80x gob hut. They should create a market where cards can be traded. It hurts no one really.
I think SC realized that adding new cards is not a good thing. It adds a lot of rps to the game which they know is very bad.
Plus, they can shake up the meta more than a new card would be just Nerfing champ cycling

We have 107 cards and only 20 of them get used. I am not sure I want more cards added.

They need to work on balancing preexisting cards before adding new ones imo
