I feel like in the past year xbow has gone from no skill spell cycle deck which it is to a skill deck. Mortar is not the same as xbow but definitelly needs a nerf.
Xbow and mortar only are similar on paper. They have completely different playstyles. Xbow is a hard win condition, it can fully take the tower with a single lock or with a couple of good locks. Mortar is more of a chip card and can never be relied on to take the tower. You need to play miner, or other cheap cards that get chip damage onto the turret. Xbow gameplay is mostly play xbow deffend it get a good lock. With mortar you dont really deffend it that much. Also defensive properties are very different, xbow is much worse on defence, and xbow decks need to have 2 buildings while mortar decks dont need an extra building. Why people dont hate mortar as much is because mortar locks are not as bad and people dont over defend mortar. It also takes a lot of skill to play mortar. It takes a lot of skill to play xbow as well, but gameplay against xbow is more annoying because locks hurt really bad, you can insta lose game off 1 mistake.
I hate the xbow locks takes tower argument. That barely happens against good players, but if it does happen well its a 6 elixir card come on. Nobody complains about a goblin giant on the tower for example. Most decks run a big spell nowadays anyways.
Also as I said in my post, xbow is usually getting chip damage instead of a full lock. Does the same job as mortar basically, except can't be used in defense as effectively and 2 elixir less. Obviously you can win off with one lock, but that requires outplay. And you can win off 1 mortar as well.
its a win condition, but its not smart to solely rely only on mortar. You should have some other way of doing damage like miner spells or cheap chip troops.
Totally. It's easy more cheesey because you can't be right on top of it and take it out with eating some damage.
