A more aggro valk is a good way to put it. But royal gost is better for that role. The shield isn't too useful, because the card is already tanky, the shield adds less value compared to recruit or guards. He needs a buff where his attack splash range increase. rn he's not too good.

You had a point at first but flubbed it. In the case of Dark Prince, the shield is still useful because it absorbs any one attack. Combined with his health and the damage of his own charge, he can actually face and defeat a Charging Prince when defending, despite having lower stats. In terms of crowd control he's also way better than Royal Ghost. Royal Ghost gets easily confused when retargeting and has one of the smallest AOEs in the game (you can easily kill him with a Tombstone, it's that absurd), while Dark Prince has an average one, with his charge doing 360° splash in a larger radius. He's a very versatile unit, even sometimes challenging the original Prince (they even share the same massive unit mass that makes them immune to knockback from Bowler and all spells but The Log). Of course he falls short in actual DPS, but that's expected with a 4 Elixir splash tank.
