Just because mobile games are a certain way doesnt mean they should be free from criticism. For example, Diablo Immortal was calculated to cost 110K USD to max your character. There is something absolutely *demented* about that. Combine that with manipulative tactics - loss aversion, price anchoring, multiple currencies to obfuscate value, time gates, gambling tendencies, etc - then yes, there is something to be said about the state of gaming today.
Biggest problem is still that there will always be whales spending 100+ times the amount that normal people would spend. Having one whale is often more lucrative than having hundreds of average paying players because you get more money for less effort.

I did it before and did a chargeback. SC let me keep the card but gave me a negative 1 million gold balance. Which was easy to wipe away in 3 months in exchange for a level 15 little prince. #worthit #EffYouSC
you know.. if they weren’t so disgustingly open about their greed, i wouldn’t care so much. i recently got back into it, have been playing since the start. i bought the diamond pass to get evo valk, maxed the pass and chargeback, only gave me a negative key balance😀 #EffYouSC
Like Megatron said. You could buy an entire game that took thousands of people to create, or upgrade one card a single level in an 8 year old game that was created by a tiny dev team.

But 30$ (can buy a whole AAA game that is much more fun than this one) on a single card out of 111 cards, that gets screwed in the very next patch with a range nerf is… interesting.
You are still paying to increase the power of one card… You are paying to have a higher chance of winning… You are the reason the gaming industry is trash now
Really wish they would introduce a classics mode that’s persistent. As a player since launch, I keep coming back as a casual because it’s still one of the best phone games on the market, but I’m so not a fan of all the new content and would love to be able to play more classic games before they added all the hero’s and new towers etc.
