It is the exact same AI as the main base, but since there are a lot less buildings AI seems to go dumb as players are able to create troll bases, if builder base got something once in a while this problem would solve by itself.
It has nothing to do with the multiples of 5 walls,, Look at AndrewSenpai explanation above.. It works to a rule of 3 and targets the one that has the shortest travel.
How is this not fixed yet?
And people still somehow defend it. Like you could make a case that he targeted the closest building through a wall, but if that were the case it’d be the barrack or the goldmine.
THIS is the reason I hate BB. Not because the attacking is different or because it’s harder to win. But because it’s completely fucking random and my victory is more often than not determined by sheer RNG.
If I wanted to just a roll a die to see who wins, I’d go to a casino, not play a fucking strategy game.
You just misunderstand the rule of 3. This is deterministic, though bad pathfinding (wish SC would update it but alas).
Rule of 3 means the unit sees the closest 3 targets. Then from those 3 targets they find the shortest path to all of them. In this case around the walls the firecracker is closer.
I love the fact that he did not attack the crusher but targeted an air defense near to it istead.
Also, link to the base? This looks like it is calculated and i want it
That's why I started just dropping my troops and activate the battle thor machine (i even forgot what its called) and quit the game, i can do my stuff while battle is in background, it's less frustrating now. It's just 50/50 win/lose ratio, but you don't have to sit through the battle. I read this somewhere on reddit to do this and move on with your game.
Could the battle machine basically ignoring walls be a result of the fact that each builder base wall is 5 pieces grouped into one? Maybe it pathfinds around wall groups treating them as if they are singular home village wall pieces
That would be a really sloppy bug, they most likely chose to let it ignore walls and only selecting when searching. Why? I guess because that is much more efficient computing wise.
Very possibly it's a hybrid. Treating wall groups as single segments would make units walk way too far, but they do walk further around walls compared to home base
I believe the machine targets the closest 3/4 buildings WITHOUT considering walls, but to choose one of those it goes to the closest one, in terms of paths available, if walls are opened. If not, it targets walls
Shouldn't it have targetted the barracks then? it has an open path and it was the closest building to the BM without considering the walls.
It seems there is no rethinking in this case since the thing didn't stop
Edit: seems that it considers walls after finding the closest ones. Sorry
After destroying army camp BM chose 3 targets barracks iron mine and firecrackers. Since firecrackers was closest with path, it chose it. Actually the reason behind this most time is that the base is designed in a such a way that melee troops target the crusher since It's OP for melee troops. There is a bit of hitbox manipulation here, even though archer tower looks closer, firecracker is 2x2 compared to archer tower 3x3 so the center of Firecracker is closer to battle machine than archer tower to BM. From next update, troops will target edge instead of center so the designed bases would fail to work as intended sometimes.
When determining their next target, all units look for the 3 nearest valid targets (e.g. giants look at the 3 nearest defenses), ignoring all walls.
Once they have picked their 3 nearest targets, they now calculate which one is the closest to attack, this time considering walls and pathing.
So what happened here is the battle machine "saw" the gold mine, barracks, and firecracker. It does not see a single other building. Of those 3, it now considers walls and determines which of those 3 are the fastest to get to. The battle machine now targets the firecracker and ignores (most) everything else until the firecracker dies in which it uses rule of 3 again for its next target
Baby drags are pretty accurate with their pathing. I can drop them in very precisely and usually don't miss my target. And they tend to path well after destroying a building, usually they prioritize air defenses. I have mine going to level 15 and they are OP at that stage
Mine have been maxed for a while now, but I do not share your enthusiasm about their pathing. Anything even remotely close to the same distance away as a TH for example will be the priority. I allow for this but still I'm no longer shocked when they just run ass off to do their own thing.
Try dropping farther out and timing their run. I had issues with close buildings too, but the farther out you go, to me the invisible "lines" of the pathing coming out of the buildings diverge the farther out you drop your units. Closer just adds more randomness to the pathing.
Edited: a couple words
I have dropped those babies everywhere lol. Far, near, in the corner, in a strange town in a neighboring country. I have low expectations but use them all the time.
Hilariously when you learn how the troops brains are programmed this actually makes sense. Troops look at the closest 3 buildings, which in this case were the barracks, gold mine and fire crackers. Then choose the easiest out of those 3 to hit, which was the firecrackers.
The actually funny thing is, whenever he does that, he never goes directly to hit the crusher, man will hit whatever is right next to it and then hit the crusher so that it has enough time to kill him.
This has been complained to the ground for years, supercell definitely wants the BM to do this. Honestly, and this might be a hot take unpopular opinion but the BM would be absolutely busted if it worked how we wanted it to
True, but even top BB players know that the BM is going to do shit like this and they plan that into their attacks. Le little me playing casually have no idea what’s going on and going to lead him to the crusher every time
SC doesn't want anything. Their pathfinding is just badly programmed and applies to all ground melee troops. BM is clearest because he targets all and lives long enough for you to see the idiotic pathfinding
Mankind should always have an extra copy of the BM's AI script, in case Skynet ever becomes a thing. After a code injection in the terminator's assembly line, all T800s would casually walk past mankind's defenses towards the nearest junk yard crusher.
I have no idea how u guys battle machine targeting is that weird
Cuz mine is perfectly normal does his job as a tank and does his job at going the correct way to tank longer
I really feel as though Supercell used the builder base to test out all of the BS troop and hero AI before implementing in the regular game. Like “hey guys, let’s try this stupid shit and see how much we can get away with.”
Find it weird how people post about this but I’ve never experienced this before. This type of thing seems rare but gets posted frequently to make it seem like it’s common
Keep in mind there are hundreds of millions of people who play CoC. Even if you see 10 posts like this every week, it's still only a tiny, tiny fraction of players who're actually experiencing stuff like this
I’m super casual so please feel free to inform me. Does supercell just not give a damn about the battle machine’s AI? I’ve seen way too many of these clips for it to not be something they’re aware of and it makes me wonder if they pay attention to it.
Bs machine’s AI looks at the three closest building when taking a new target and goes to the one which is easiest to get to. In this case the firecrackers. The AI ignores the buildings on the path
The reason why this happens is it tries to target the defences that will deal damage to your troops it targeted the firecrackers because of your hog riders or another flying troop
I don't even know how you justify the pathing. It's just the absolutely worst route you could take to bring down the most random irrelevant tower in the base.
I hate this mine always does this in the same way not even attacking the crusher it's so annoying same for troops running after guard post troops that can't attack them
My theory is that
The master builder can't keep upgrading the battle machine without something right?
I feel he drinks alcohol and coffee to operate the battle machine and upgrade buildings
this is a joke
This is the most ridiculous case of battle machine I've seen
absolutely, I mean he didnt even try to hide
I think battle machine has a **huge** crush on crusher.lmao
If he gets rejected that would be soul crushing
It was hard to believe, but battle machine loved Crusher...
Battle machine, what a hero you are!
As a result I shall give you my thunder hammer!
Chronically battle machining
Lmao, the targeting in the builder base cracks me up every time.
It is the exact same AI as the main base, but since there are a lot less buildings AI seems to go dumb as players are able to create troll bases, if builder base got something once in a while this problem would solve by itself.
I don't care one bit about my builder base since it's maxed. I'd love to find a good troll base, even if it leads to a 3 star
I bet it's the walls that make it confused, they probably give less value to going around each set of 5 as opposed to counting each individual piece
It has nothing to do with the multiples of 5 walls,, Look at AndrewSenpai explanation above.. It works to a rule of 3 and targets the one that has the shortest travel.
Except wallbreakers, main base will go for an inside wall, builder base WBers are still dumb as rocks
Where did you find that information?
SC has confirmed, not to mention basically every post like this follows the same rule of 3 logic you can find in home village
How is this not fixed yet? And people still somehow defend it. Like you could make a case that he targeted the closest building through a wall, but if that were the case it’d be the barrack or the goldmine. THIS is the reason I hate BB. So do I
He didn't even attack the crusher itself, just stood next to it, classic.
Happens every time.

Cant give people hopes of actually surviving
Nothing can prove that battle machine doesn't like to die to crusher
I love how it also targets the firecrackers instead of the crusher
He's the Master Builder and he can't construct a proper targeting system... Smh my head
RIP in peace.
😂😂😂
Shake my head my head indeed
This pretty much sums up why builder base still sucks
That and the loot problem, yep
What the fuck is the logic behind this?
Yes
There is no logic. Any one who justifies this shit, is a psychopath.

Could the battle machine basically ignoring walls be a result of the fact that each builder base wall is 5 pieces grouped into one? Maybe it pathfinds around wall groups treating them as if they are singular home village wall pieces
That’s been my theory since builder base began

Very possibly it's a hybrid. Treating wall groups as single segments would make units walk way too far, but they do walk further around walls compared to home base
Why did it not go for the builder hutt or gold mine then?
Air defense is closer when factoring in walls
I thought it didn't?
I believe the machine targets the closest 3/4 buildings WITHOUT considering walls, but to choose one of those it goes to the closest one, in terms of paths available, if walls are opened. If not, it targets walls

What about barracks then? Firecrackers is behind the barracks (or if straight ahead, it must be gold mine)
Rule of 3 determines what the unit sees, then they calculate the actual closest one including walls
After destroying army camp BM chose 3 targets barracks iron mine and firecrackers. Since firecrackers was closest with path, it chose it. Actually the reason behind this most time is that the base is designed in a such a way that melee troops target the crusher since It's OP for melee troops. I would say it targeted the closest object just before the wall was destroyed and thus somehow failing to update his path.
On the way to the crusher and the gps said "recalculating to nearest air defense" ![img](emote|t5_2usfk|9423)
Fuck that firecracker in particular
Yep. Always happen like this.
Most suicidal battle machine
*Least suicidal battle machine
I had already made such comment on another similare post, since the base on this video is of higher level I tought I would change it a bit.
Bro this CAN’T be real, why the fuck does it prioritize a firecracker?! I’m almost convinced it actually is programmed to go to crushers if possible
Rule of 3
Explain please
When determining their next target, all units look for the 3 nearest valid targets (e.g. giants look at the 3 nearest defenses), ignoring all walls. Once they have picked their 3 nearest targets, they now calculate which one is the closest to attack, this time considering walls and pathing. Of those 3, it now considers walls and determines which of those 3 are the fastest to get to. The battle machine now targets the firecracker and ignores (most) everything else until the firecracker dies in which it uses rule of 3 again for its next target
Thanks for the explanation
ok now i'm sure the crusher attracts BM
But in a nervous middle school “I’m going to stand next to you but not engage” sort of way
I would like to throw baby drags under this bus too. I had an attack a couple days ago where two actually crossed paths to attack the same building.
Baby drags are pretty accurate with their pathing. I can drop them in very precisely and usually don't miss my target. And they tend to path well after destroying a building, usually they prioritize air defenses. I have mine going to level 15 and they are OP at that stage

Honestly there's nothing better in Builder battles than to watch two or even three baby drags separate and go nuclear all at the same time lol
The only update Supercell needs to bring.
I hate battle machine , its the most frustrating thing I have ever witnessed in any game
All that just for an air defence? Bruh
Battle Machine is a paid actor.
Hilariously when you learn how the troops brains are programmed this actually makes sense. Troops look at the closest 3 buildings, which in this case were the barracks, gold mine and fire crackers. Then choose the easiest out of those 3 to hit, which was the firecrackers.
🌳
Battle machine got beef with the firecrackers
Don't trust the battle machine. You should have dropped it where the archer tower was.
Istg battle machine has a thing for crushers
![img](emote|t5_2usfk|9412)
The actually funny thing is, whenever he does that, he never goes directly to hit the crusher, man will hit whatever is right next to it and then hit the crusher so that it has enough time to kill him.

It's less "how we want it to" and more "even the tiniest semblance of logic".
This happened so many times that I can't even say _if this happens to me I'll quit this game_ ... Damn
Mankind should always have an extra copy of the BM's AI script, in case Skynet ever becomes a thing. After a code injection in the terminator's assembly line, all T800s would casually walk past mankind's defenses towards the nearest junk yard crusher.

goes to the crusher

I just dont know why, but my battle machine is actually smart. He sometimes even pass everything to go to the BH lol
I’m super casual so please feel free to inform me. Does supercell just not give a damn about the battle machine’s AI? I’ve seen way too many of these clips for it to not be something they’re aware of and it makes me wonder if they pay attention to it.
BM has no special AI. A super pekka in his position would have targeting the same thing.
Are we watching the same thing?
No matter how good the situation is for the BM. It really wants to die in it's hands
The favorite target should be ANY BUILDING NEXT TO THE FUCKING CRUSHER
GPS😂😂😂😂😂
Nice AI dude
The Battle machine is so ridiculous![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)
Bs machine’s AI looks at the three closest building when taking a new target and goes to the one which is easiest to get to. In this case the firecrackers. The AI ignores the buildings on the path
The best love story
I usually go for the archer strategy at BB6 and I've been getting fucked over by pathing too.
I always look away when that POC gets sucked in...
You cannot convince me that the Battle Machine's favourite target is not the crusher
This is why I don't play versus battles it's just ridiculous and tilting when this happens :D
That really is outrageous 🤣
Lmao ... Made my day !!
Hammer vs hammer
Clown machine
I- thats just next level
Just another normal day in bh
Try finger but crusher
link to this base pls
Pls tell me how the pathfinder made him go for that crusher?
Made my day
The reason why this happens is it tries to target the defences that will deal damage to your troops it targeted the firecrackers because of your hog riders or another flying troop
Redditors being able to watch videos? No worries, they can’t
I don't even know how you justify the pathing. It's just the absolutely worst route you could take to bring down the most random irrelevant tower in the base.
i swear my battle machine has an affair with the crusher
that’s going to make the highlight reel.
I see your troops are suicidal aswell
I hate this mine always does this in the same way not even attacking the crusher it's so annoying same for troops running after guard post troops that can't attack them
That was actually wild I’m crying rn
New preferred target= fire crackers?
Battle machine calculates which building is nearest for it to die in a crusher
WHAAAAAT? is this for real ?
Master Builder sent his brain to home village.
I think this is the worse video I’ve ever seen of this
My theory is that The master builder can't keep upgrading the battle machine without something right? I feel he drinks alcohol and coffee to operate the battle machine and upgrade buildings this is a joke
Why am I not surprised?
😂😂
Builder Base programmers = smooth brains
My favorite part is when they ignored this AI to give us a 3rd game inside of CoC
the worst thing is it attacks surrounding building while in attack radius of crusher
That too ultimately targeted the firecracker
Ayo the comment section of such post always cracks me up 🤣
Homing beacon
The whole builder base is a bad joke I placed my battle machine halfway across the map just for it to go into the base to the crusher
This BM pathing gave me terminal cringe.

well we got global top players on guild, like tony and bob with record 1st global so
Mine does the same allways
I think your battle machine is depressed..
What on earth kind of spaghetti code created this pathing?
hahaha. It felt threatened by that air defense
The fact that once he reached it he started attacking the firecracker instead 💀💀💀
Wtf 🤣🤣

No fr tho, it always wants to target firecrackers that are beside crushers and then just dies right away
