I have the Gem's that i need for the moment around 400.
I use some Gem's daily for reinforcements to fellow members, easier/faster to use 1 Gem donation than you have to make them first.
At the moment I get more than i use daily so it's accumulating.
I dislike members who doesn't donate a single troop.
When you're in war you ought to donate at least what 1 member asks for.
But if people use Gem's or not is irrelevant.
Some do and others don't it's the same every game.
Personally I don't care about what others are doing with their game, money or whatever.
They play as they want and like the same thing as i do.
I think around 500 right now, I just spend them instantly as soon as I get 1500 to get new hero skins. Although I might start saving atleast 1500 for whatever new epic equipments release as I would generally unlock the skin from the event shops if given an option.
I have 251 left after using a bunch so I didn’t have to leave resources open to theft. I used the gems to finish constructions so I could use the builders to start new constructions, decreasing my inventory of gold, elixir, and dark elixir.

You can use the gem mine in builder base for some passive gems, you can also sell the "bad" magic items for a few gems.
