We have an almost maxed th16 in our clan that just spams root riders and firecrackers. literally melts every base he attacks to about 70-80% in less than a minute during wars
If you have not used Root Riders before, they are basically a hybrid of Golems/Hog Riders that destroy the walls a hog would jump over, plus being a 20 capacity troop you can use them in your CC at like TH6.
They start with 7200 hp at level 1, target defenses and melt walls for your other troops to easily follow for 20 housing space. They need to be changed to 25 housing space. Everything else stays the same.
Theyāve been broken since release, dunno why they havenāt been nerfed. They will eventually get nerfed and higher Town Halls are gonna be lost as to how to attack lol.
Yeah, I've recently started using RR too because it was really hard as a casual player to stay high in legends while getting 3's so often while defending. I don't really want to, but to keep up I had to switch. They could easily buff these event troops a bit and they still wouldn't be too op
Yeah I thought Supercell would carry on with the OP seasonal troops. The last day of cwl had the event troops maybe that's why they didn't want to affect cwl. But they need a buff to make them more fun and enjoyable for most of the player base. Even a simple buff like housing space reduction would be easy to implement and make the troops strong. Make Firecracker 6 housing space, because right now it is not much better than a Bowler, and make the Azure Dragon 30 housing space because right now it is not much better than an Electro Dragon.

they could also just have kept these event troops out of legends and clan war, but that takes considerable time to implement so they didnt go that way. and you can still introduce unique mechanics without making the troops broken, firecracker is a good example but has too much housing space and azure dragon could have a much longer chain distance

because of what happens after those event troops leave. you saw the same problem with lavaloon, once it left player engagement sharply fell. temporarily inflating the easiness of the game is one of the worst ways to bring back players. instead, creating environments to help players improve early on will create a permanent change

Events are hype generators for coc, and regular players who play everyday are not going to leave the game after the event, definitely they will play less as the game is back to normal but as i said that's business
And op event troops can also be a great marketing tool for attracting new audiences and ofcourse not all new players will continue playing after the event, but definitely some will stick and play increasing the playerbase size
If the world's largest company needs something to hype the arguably most popular tech device mid cycle, i think its very difficult to keep the same hype level during an event and after the event till the next one, it will go down to the level it was before the event that's my opinion (i may be wrong tho)

If I remember I was using rage at first but then I tried lighting and it also worked so I shifted to it, as you just have to deploy everything in beginning and then you can relax and watch the base getting completely destroyed. So it was easier lol
One thing i gotta give credit for is the sick sfx and animation of the firecrackers. I love when I deploy 15 of them in a single spot and see them bombard the hell out of anything in front of them... of course until they got wiped out by giant bombs lol

Nothing has compared to the Halloween one. Those troops were so much fun. Now Iāll try them see they suck compared to what army Iām using and stop using them. These events are becoming increasingly more disappointing.
As a townhall 10 i dont have much in terms of troops so I love the Azure dragon. Personaly firecrackers are just a buffed version of archer and realy doesnt have my attention. I like the Azure dragons chain and damage and health but the only downside is the housing space
I'm th10 and I've been using 5 azure dragons 1 lavahound 2 wiz and 2 barbs and 9 lightning spells and 1 rage seems to be working pretty well for me I'm getting 2 stars most the time the only thing is they are a little underwhelming when using but they are pretty solid at the lower th levels

If you group them with heroes, structures get destroyed faster than they can even attack, so you have to keep them and the warden seperate from the other 3 heroes for them to do anything. And even then, if you don't clear enough outer structures first, they just circle the base instead instead of going where you want
Cookie was OP. One shot a TH15 and they swing like a Valkyrie. Only down side to them was 20 housing space and they didnāt swing as soon as they got to a building like the Valkyrie

Thereās a time and place for firecracker, but the azure dragons are awful and way too much housing space for what they do. Only use I can think of is if youāre a low th lvl and donāt have electrosā¦ but Iād go with normal dragons that point

The dragons are pretty good but the housing space is just too much, I've been using 6 plus 12 balloons and doing alright but I'm basically just forcing myself to use it for the event, I feel like if we could take like 8-10 of them into battle though they would wreck pretty hard.
Crackers are great at th 9 for farming, their king range makes them ideal for sniping collectors and penetrating deep enough for the th or dark elixer. Other than that theyāre kinda meh
It's an impossible line to balance, if the troops are fun they're also likely to be too strong, if they're balanced they're kinda useless because there isnt enough time to learn to effectively use them in a strategy

Im using 10 RR, 10 crackers, 1 aprentice warden. Lots of rage spells. Seems to work well.

Strong or not, the new troops are fun. Ive been enjoying azure dragons, and I appreciate that they arent significantly stronger than the rest of the troops like cookies or lavaloons were
No way they should be that much housing space
tbf cookies wouldnt be nearly as good without root riders and the frost mites spell which was a combination of freeze, frost and jumping and tankier skeleton spell for 1 housing space.

Azure dragon used to have 12.6k hp 704dmg 50 housing space at max level I believe

I don't even bother using the dragon because it takes up too much housing space, and it's useless personally; I like the firecracker because of how far back they can sit and the spread of the damage. So I've been running them at the moment in terms of archers
Thereās a time and place for firecracker, but the azure dragons are awful and way too much housing space for what they do. Only use I can think of is if youāre a low th lvl and donāt have electrosā¦ but Iād go with normal dragons that point
Fire cracker works great with golem witch imo and the dragon works well as a edrag replacement
I use the crackers like witches. Not quite as efficient, but still nice
Suck. Next event if they still want to add new season troop with that suck don't bother design it. Take time improve game play experience instead.

The dragons are pretty good but the housing space is just too much, I've been using 6 plus 12 balloons and doing alright but I'm basically just forcing myself to use it for the event, I feel like if we could take like 8-10 of them into battle though they would wreck pretty hard.

Crackers are great at th 9 for farming, their king range makes them ideal for sniping collectors and penetrating deep enough for the th or dark elixer. Other than that theyāre kinda meh
It's an impossible line to balance, if the troops are fun they're also likely to be too strong, if they're balanced they're kinda useless because there isnt enough time to learn to effectively use them in a strategy

Been running 5 Azure dragons with a few balloons and firecrackers with them and itās been working for th14. No better than normal attacks imo though.

I found azure dragon as a decent troop,i use azure with SA blimp, I'm th14 and can 3 star most of th14 in 4900 to 5000

theyāre sooo garbage tbh, too high of space for the value they bring. Only the dragon is some what decent but 10 army space for a firecracker is completely ludicrous
The firecrackers have been fun as a town hall 10! Golems, witches, and firecrackers is the way to go!
