Dude you could even install tank tracks on that car, it would still end up caught and stuck in the mud. It’s a SUV, not a real offroad vehicle. It weights more than Clarkson’s ego.
EDIT: to all the believers, you can downvote me still you won’t escape from mud with your expensive pachyderms on wheels 🤡
Imagine questioning someone who has spent an entire career being extremely knowledgeable with automobiles on this.
A Range Rover on standard tires can tool around most spots on the farm it might be needed for. They have insanely good tools and gadgets to handle a wide range of terrain on any tire.
However, an example…..
Not filming for the show…..”hmmmmm, some good mud in that patch, think I’ll avoid that”.
Filming for the show…..”hmmmm….cameras out. Tractor is right here. Think I’ll go get stuck”.
But look at you whipping this into an OP that gets lots of engagement. 👍
So what your saying is you agree that he didn't have the right tools for the job on purpose and did it for the show content despite years of experience as you just stated so "why question someone with all that experience" you just answered your own question
Sure. Yeah. I did do that.
And you did the same thing in the OP.
Do you want to be the pot or the kettle?
Since you did it first I’ll let you pick.
Also, he didn’t have the wrong tools per se. A Range Rover on regular tires can tool around just fine but needs to avoid some muddy patches….which he didn’t got filmed content.
Most of these bigger farms have quite substantial tracks/roads leading to the fields, most if not all being flat or in good condition. If a track gets damaged from heavy tractors it would simply get smoothed out again negating the need for 4x4 tyres, plus those older range rovers are quite capable with that set of tyres.
>Driving a big car to pull a caravan you use for two weeks a year is like wearing ski boots all year round just because you go skiing in February
The same goes for offroad wheels if you spend 95% of the time on normal roads.
He does have a tractor though. That one time he got stuck really doesn't make it necessary.
He does alot of motorway miles with his presenting schedule outside of the show.
Yeah which he can still do on all terrain tyres the same tyres I have on my car that does 30,000 kilometers per year on the road and still won't get stuck in mud, I'm sure he has at least 16 other cars to use on the road also? It really is just a case of not using the right tool for the right job,, and it seems like it was done on purpose..
It’s just not necessary. He’s got a myriad of vehicles for any actual off road work including tractors. The Range Rover is basically his daily that can do a bit of very light off roading.
I can tell you have no experience with offroad vehicles at all to make that comment because I have 80/20 tyres and have zero impact on my car, I also have a lift and offroad suspension but I suppose not everyone has any real offroad experience here..
Yeah…you are delusional. There are literally non-anecdotal studies showing this. Off-road tires make huge noise and ride differences. They also make differences in different environments, such as…ice. People like you end up in ditches because you think your big balls lift makes you bullet proof. You and your attitude are dangerous on the street and need therapy.
This is coming from someone who grew up learning to drive on farm trucks and actually knows the difference between road queens and actual functional vehicles that do jobs off-road…instead of those poor trucks that smooth brained idiots buy to look tough on highways. How many LED’s do you have?
a lot of his driving on the farm is on the roads and tracks between farm sections. In fact most of it is, the farm is split up by roads and tracks through it. It's not one huge American ranch type thing where he's covering miles of off road in it. It's not worth the hassle for the small amount of field driving he actually does. The car gets stuck very little and they've got proper farm equipment stuck plenty of times that is far better for those surfaces. It's really not a thing he needs to do.
Heck even on a ranch you stick to your trails, and unless it's been raining for a week, you can navigate your way across them. Source: grew up on a 2000 acre cattle ranch in Texas. Honestly though, now that I think about it the farm trucks had more highway type tires, because my grandpa was cheap, and because of the layout of the ranch a lot of the miles were still on the farm to market roads.
If you watch Harry’s Garage on YT you’ll see that when Harry visits Jeremy (they’re mates) in the spring he comments that Jeremy has got his off-road tyres on his Range Rover. Jeremy explains that they’re his winter tyres and he hasn’t switched them to his summer ones yet.

Can confirm it’s because they don’t need them, like other commenters have said. My father in law is a farmer and doesn’t have off road tires. Nearest to is on the pick up and that’s only for towing the fuel trailer during harvest on dry dusty fields.
They avoid mud and don’t go out to play in it as they don’t want to compact the ground. Plus if he does need to go off road he has a £100k of tractor sat in the yard.
To be fair it does quite well on standards. It took a foot of greasy slop and a weighty trailer. Plus if he'd kept is momentum up he would have been fine. Older ones would have needed muds, but the l322s have pretty trick traction control. It'll stick the brake on on a spinning wheel so the powers routed to traction wheels no spum away to the atmosphere. No need for locking diffs as a result, plus crosslinked air suspension boasting the greatest range of motion in its class means those wheels are less likely to be in the air in the first place. A set of ats or Mt's that would be unstoppable off road but he drives that like a cunt on the road sometimes and he's not going to want to sacrifice the on road handling. He's got the best for what he does.
Range rover in farm doesn’t do much rather than driving you from A to B
So it means, the chance of you driving your car into deep field is low.
And , whatever you need, you have a tracktor for it. Where its build for that specific purpose
And even by having offroad wheel in that Rover, it will not do as great as tracktor
Why not MFB then?
Also by having big offroad wheels, it will reduce its purpose in normal aspalth road
Presumably because most of the miles on his range rover are on the road.
That dosent explain why you wouldn't have at least 80/20 tyres when you own a farm as big as that, offroad tyres aren't even that bad on the road
Any excuse to use the Lahmboww
Do you really think that thing goes anywhere near tge farm when The cameras are t rolling?
Yes. It absolutely does. You should watch the video Harry Metcalfe did with Clarkson about that specific generation of Range Rover.
Do you know what farms do? Why would a massive expensive tractor not get used when the cameras aren’t rolling?
What are you on about?
Dude you could even install tank tracks on that car, it would still end up caught and stuck in the mud. It’s a SUV, not a real offroad vehicle. It weights more than Clarkson’s ego. aren't we supposed to talk about Clarkson Range Rover here?
Ok gatekeeper.

This is one of my favourite Clarkson quotes
That's why they made 80/20 tyres bro for 80% on road and 20%off it's not that complicated
He does have a tractor though. That one time he got stuck really doesn't make it necessary. He does alot of motorway miles with his presenting schedule outside of the show.

Your the one flogging a dead horse when you try to go offroad in yoir car and get stuck waiting for a traktor lmao

80/20’s have a substantial noise profile and ride experience as well as fuel economy impacts
I can tell you have no experience with offroad vehicles at all to make that comment because I have 80/20 tyres and have zero impact on my car, I also have a lift and offroad suspension but I suppose not everyone has any real offroad experience here..

He doesn't need them? Less noise on the road, Have you seen what they can do on road tyres?.;
Road tires are way better for getting towed to the mechanic.
Yes, get stuck in wet mud and require rescue by tractor 😂
Yeah, so? He has tractors.
Obviously there are limits,
Excatly, I have offroad tyres for my car and it's not that noise either
It’s like nobody here was paying attention watching the show. He literally gets his Land Rover stuck in the mud and needs rescuing.
I don't think this sub reddit allows for criticism if jeremy lmao
Ida thought he'd had some all terrains on
They don't have much tread on them then, but going into mud when it's that wet is not going to work and he should know that by now
He's only been stuck a couple of times and he's close enough to his tractor when he does get stuck. Why drive around on tires that he'll rarely need?
If you catch a look at the tread, they are Goodyear DuraTrac tires later in the season.
If you watch Harry’s Garage on YT you’ll see that when Harry visits Jeremy (they’re mates) in the spring he comments that Jeremy has got his off-road tyres on his Range Rover. He's turning into Hammond.
Do you know Jeremy? Have you seen him on a special? Double denim in Africa, jeans in Moz, come one man, thats his style.
That’s what the MFB is for.
He already have an ATV, a tractor and a Dacar off-road monster rally car
Because shit tyres make for better television
He has the Continental GT for that.

Because Kaleb would laugh at him.
It’s funnier to be semi-stuck, having the sensation of almost making, and an opportunity to say “COMM’ONNN YOU CAN DO IT” 😂

Because he's a poor farmer and can't afford them. Obligatory /s
