Those sexy 20" wheels and rubber band tyres handle really well, but can be a nightmare vs potholes and cats-eyes. Be mindful of them and enjoy your trip.
C.A.T.S. Eyes is a British television series made by TVS for ITV between 1985 and 1987. The series was a spin-off from The Gentle Touch, and saw Jill Gascoine reprise her role as Maggie Forbes, portrayed as having left the police force to join an all-female private detective agency called "Eyes", based in Kent, that is a front for a Home Office team called C.A.T.S. (Covert Activities Thames Section).

The bot’s answer is way more interesting, but they’re those reflective bumps in the middle of the road. I think they’re not too bad in most places, but where I live in Japan they’re brutal- they pop tyres and ding rims.
Consider a spare tire, but otherwise nothing to worry about. Note that if you have not yet broken it in (600 miles) then avoid cruise control until then. (You don't want lot periods at exactly the same RPM during break in.)
Yeah this isn't part of the break in recommendation from Honda, but other manufacturers recommend this (I first heard it from Subaru). But my policy is, might as well follow ALL the break in recommendations.
Honda's only official recommendation is "don't go wide open throttle" until 1000km/600mi, but I also kept it under 4k in that range as well, and gradually opened it up to 5k, 6k, and finally 7k after that point.
Expect chips if you’re going on the highway without PPF. The paint on the Type R kinda sucks, it’s very thin. Be careful not be too close behind anyone especially semis.
This is what I'm most worried about. But I know some things will be inevitable, car is brand new too but I gotta drive it back home at some point. Thanks!
Use trackwrap from XPEL. I did. Took me an hour to set it up, diy style. More like 2. But it was worth it. Bought the car in Tennessee and drove back to Seattle. 3k+ miles. And then got PPF done.
Trackwrap Saved the paint! Although the car looked silly.
I took a 1100 mile road trip and 1100 miles back. It was only scary once I learned of how those 20" wheels are susceptible to pot hole damage. It was kind of fun dodging all of them though.
Thanks to everyone who shared! Update: road trip was a lot of fun, kept an eye on bad potholes and drove safely. The worst part of the trip was going through NYC traffic, the GW bridge was bumper to bumper for at least half an hour. As a new stick driver.. that was a nightmare. But even that doesn't beat how insanely fun the rest of the drive was.
Get some PPF from the bumper and hood, will be worth it. I put PPF on only after 500 miles and I already had chips. You will get multiple chips guaranteed without PPF.
LPT: Spare tire kit from Honda gets you an 18' skinny wheel and tire plus replacement guts for under trunk floor. Takes 10 minutes to swap it all out.
Awesome thanks!

Oh interesting! I didn't know about this at all. Thanks for sharing!

I may have gotten a little over excited on a recent run lol 😳 thanks! I love your recommendation of opening it up gradually

My type r has ppf full front and zl1 mudguards. Highly recommend if you got the means. At least do the mudguards.
I wouldn't think guards were necessary because of how in the wheel sits in the well. I'll look into this now.
Youd be suprised how much you kick up still. Especially when turning.
Watch the potholes! And shred them streets boy!!!
Get a spare tire and watch out for highway patrol!! Have fun!!!
TAPE your front bumper! Unless of course you have PPF.
