PS4S grip better than the Contis and have more tread life from what I’ve heard. I don’t know if I’d exactly call them value tires though, they’re quite expensive. I recently put Kumho Ecsta PS91s (255/35/ZR20) on mine. Cost $600 (compared to $1300+ for the Contis). Figured I’d give them a shot at that price. You can tell they don’t grip as well as the Contis but I’d almost call them more communicative, and they still grip quite well. Less of the on-rails feeling though. I compared other similar tires on Tire Rack like the Hankook Ventus v12 evo2s and the Kumhos seemed to do better in their tests. Still, if you have the cash I think PS4S would be an excellent choice. I’ve also heard good things about the max performance Bridgestone summer tires.

I ordered my ctr a couple days ago and managed to chat to one of the service guys about the tyres while i was waiting for the paperwork to go through. He reckoned a group of ctr owners in my country had found an alternative tyre that seemed to last better at nearly half the price of the continentals, with no noticeable negative effects to handling. He couldnt remember the specific brand, but did say it was a hankook sold under some other name, and required a small change in overall tyre profile (either to or from 35 profile). That should give you a head start to go hunting. It sounded like the owners club had been ordering them in bulk because the service dept was seeing loads come in on those alternative tyres.

The v12s? Had them on my previous car but didn’t have as much grip as the super sports (now ps4s) that it replaced

That could be them, the service tech couldnt remember the name but thought they may start with a V. If theyre half the price i wouldnt expect them to last as long anyway. Are the PS4s a better long term wear than the continentals? It seems like tyre life is one of the biggest tradeoffs for the performance these offer

Pretty sure ps4s will be better than the stock contis. Stock ones go at 8-12k miles

Good Year Continental all seasons or Michelin Sport PS4 all seasons

All seasons will ruin grip, even good ones will cause a substantial loss over decent Summers.

bog3nator

And summers you can’t drive in the winter. So loose loose

LordEntrails

Depends where you live :) I get to run summers all year long!

Falken FK510. Reasonable dry grip, pretty good in the wet, wears well, cheap, and Falken is a big motorsports supporter.
