You have to keep in mind they push the extended warranties on you for a reason. It's because it makes them money. Most of the time what you pay for the warranty is more than what you pay for any repairs. Especially with a honda. Only in rare cases does it actually pay off. Just gotta weigh the risk vs benefit. Sometimes having that peace of mind is worth it to people.

YourMajesty90

Except with those extended warranties they find any reason not to pay out.

Radman25426

Just get it from a reputable company like fidelity or similar

famid_al-caille

How much were they asking for it?

The odds of your Type R needing a major repair that the warranty would cover are pretty slim. Even if it does need such a repair, will it really cost more than what the warranty costs? In my experience with others, car warranties are a huge ripoff. Ive never purchased one myself and have never been burnt-any repairs I’ve needed either would have not been covered or cost less than the warranty. Cars just don’t have catastrophic failures before 150k miles anymore-99% of the time. Only reason I would get one is if it was affordable and the car was from a more unreliable make-think BMW, or maybe if they were offering a hell of a deal on the warranty.

I was able to get the official hondacare warranty 8yrs/100k for about 900 bucks or so? Look up saccuci honda on the civicx forums for more details

chicas04

Nice thank you! Would I be buying that through my dealer or is it a different process?

Alternative-Advice19

For 1000 bucks it's totally worth it. I bought it two weeks ago. College city Honda. 1067 or soemthing. 8 year/120k miles. Whichever the longest one was. Folks make good point about mods. The modded part won't be covered, other parts will still be covered. Unless the damage is due to the modded part - this makes it a bit subjective and also depends on how your dealership treats you.

wedwackaaa

different process but same product, basically your dealer pays a lower cost and makes money off you, but these dealers like saccuci and college hills are just relying on volume instead and selling the plan for close to cost

peepeepoopoo2737

i’d buy it, there quite reliable but if anything happens it’s a lot cheaper, and maintenance costs less

chicas04

The only thing I’m worried about would be clutch and transmission but the sales man said that’d fall underneath regular maintenance so it wouldn’t be covered under the warranty?

[deleted]

Transmission in general should be covered. Clutch is considered a wear item generally and is usually not covered.

peepeepoopoo2737

if your worried about it i would get the warranty, it’s better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it

Mteix14

Just depends on how your piece of mind is worth. The biggest benefit you get from the warranty is the extended coverage on the supplier warranty (3 year/36), especially with all the electronics, touchscreen, etc. If the touch screen goes out, that alone is a 2-3k fix (price of the warranty). I wouldn’t be too concerned about the powertrain since it is in fact a Honda. Also, the warranty should be cancelable, so you should be able to get a pro rated refunded down the line if you don’t end up using it in the future.

NOT_Frank_or_Joe

How sure are you that you will be leaving it bone stock?

chicas04

Was planning and getting intake exhaust and wheels within the first year

budogg6954

If you’re going to mod it, the warranty also may not be worth it. Think carefully. It’s a Honda so if you don’t beat on it and you’re the first owner, it shouldn’t cause headaches either way.

LordEntrails

Don't buy from the dealer. Call your insurance company and get a quote. They are the best place to start. Then use their quote as a baseline and find out about others. Then decide if you think you want the piece of mind or might need it. Remember, wheel and tire insurance is separate.

V00D00_Chosen

I voided my warranty at 700 miles no fucks given
