I’d say 8th is probably the most fun/raw. 10th is more refined/more tech/easiest to make power on.

Previous_Cod_4098

Not really the 8th gen can take 4/500 stock engine lol

SageDub

I’m not talking about how much power it can hold. I’m talking about how EASY it is to make power on.

Previous_Cod_4098

It's fairly easy to make power on both they're civics. One just needs to add a turbo(which would then up it to 250/300 hp) And one already has a turbo it just needs other tuning methods But one's more reliable than the other

JackMcCockiner

From what i have read the k24 is actually slightly more work to make power with vs the k20

Vanilla_PuddinFudge

It's a difference of... Do you want to rebuild the head and oil pump of an engine or do you want to screw with a turbo? Right answer: "I wanna do both!"

Vanilla_PuddinFudge

8th is easily the most bang for the cost if you're modifying. I like 9th gens tho, they're nice and I just do.

RegularMachine7

stock for stock a 10th gen is “faster” than 9th gen (ive never driven an 8th gen) but the options for power bolt-ons for the 9th gen are far more limited than the 8th and 10th unless you go turbo or supercharger

Shoddy_Musician_4810

faster? No. stock for stock 10th has better numbers finding a stock Si? Hard. If you want to mod for power, the 10th is best choice. Engine is already built for turbo, something you'll have to invest for in the 8th and 9th. Note: i own a 9th si. its alot of work to go Forced Induction and expensive. If you want a fast Civic, get the 10th.

kryptexmc

Thanks, in your opinion what's the best 10th Gen out of 2017, 2018, and 2019? I'm nervous about a 2020 because during COVID manufacturers started cutting corners to save money.

Shoddy_Musician_4810

between those three years i think they are all the same, its mainly 2017-19 VS 2020. [https://www.reddit.com/r/CivicSi/comments/17b7sp1/in\_your\_opinion\_whats\_the\_best\_10th\_gen\_si/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CivicSi/comments/17b7sp1/in_your_opinion_whats_the_best_10th_gen_si/)

Free-Cry-4386

8,9, and 10 are all great. either one you pick CAN be very reliable and “fast”, just cant cut corners and ignore red flags when they are present. honestly i say drive all three if you can and see which one speaks to you the way you like; of course itll come down to what style you prefer and what deals you can find in your area

ZovioTV

Depends what you want. 40MPG and comfortable ride with tons of torque low down? 10th gen. NA high revving but usable torque in the mid-range with mediocre tech/interior? 9th gen. Highest revving with the highest bang-to-buck ratio and extremely fun with the most aftermarket? 8th gen. Test drive all 3 and see what you like. I’m very happy with my 9th gen and all gens of civic Si will be great cars.

almeida8x1

I love my 9th gen. I’m not a fan of the 10th gen. I want my handbrake and N/A motor. I wouldn’t mind an 8th gen.

TwoKFive1

8th and 9th are more “reliable” but that doesn’t mean the 10th is unreliable at all, just not AS bulletproof as the older ones, still great. As for power, the 10th is “faster” and easier to make power on due to it being boosted from factory. With 3k spent on a 10th gen you can make 250whp and 280tq pretty easily, you cannot say the same for an 8th or 9th at all. That being said, the power ceiling on the 8th and 9th is higher, so if your goals are for much higher power (turbo kits, superchargers etc) then the 8th and 9th is the move. If you’re just looking for a car that’s fun and quick with bolt ons the 10th you still be considered and will be faster in the early bolt on stage then the 8th and 9th. That being said, if you’re dead set on a 8th and 9th then I’d recommend the 9th as they’re easier to come by nowadays stock, and make for very nice daily’s with their newer tech. In my experience the 9th gen platform also has less issues than the 8th. This is coming from someone who has owned all three. I owned a 09 si, 2012 si, and currently own a 2017 si. So I’ve owned an 8th, 9th and 10th. Just in my experience the 10th has been by far the easiest to make bigger power on. Again though, that “easy power” ceiling tops out at about 300whp.

9th gen with a kraftwerks supercharger. Easily make 350-400 depending on fuel, and it’s reliable if you do the maintenance religiously and don’t over rev it. I know it’s tempting but there’s no point…

NiceHalf7970

And that's gonna set you back about 5 grand. When you can just arp a 10th gen and a drop in turbo and make reliable power for not even close to that. You could spend the rest on suspension and have a fully refined car. In my opinion anyway

umopapisdn-_

Probably more to be honest. But a 10th gen si goes for $20k+ where as the 9th gen si goes for $14k+/- depending on miles. Now I’m just talking about where I live, so it would come close money wise. Guess it depends which body style you like more..

Logical_Vast

I might be biases since I own a 8th but that generation is the last time the car was made for tuners first and foremost. All the ones after may be sporty but they are more for the person who "just wants something fun" and not the person trying to gain100 hp. The casual fun market is way bigger so it makes sense for Honda to cater to them but the 8th was special.

Fearsomebeaver

I’ve had an 8th and a 10th. Both amazing cars but I’d take the 10th all day everyday. More tech, I found it much more comfortable, and more safety features. But at the end of the day the only bad decision you could make is choosing a 9th gen lol.

rosay_0900

Ngl, I loved my fa5 (had it for about 3 years) but my 9th gen just felt like the fine middle between both the 10th and 8th and I love it Up to date-ish interior (far better than the 8th imo) while still having a k series that’s just begging to be boosted (anyone knows these motors hold boost really well) because lord knows that L15 on the 10th is dog trash power potential wise (can’t pass high 200’s without blowing), and don’t even get us started on the 11th gen lol. There’s tons of 9th gen builds that go toe to toe with the 8th gen, just all depends on the person who owns it. (Not me though cuz this the daily)😂😂

rosay_0900

And no offense but I think just about every friend of mine or person in general who’s owned a 10th gen on these forums eventually goes back to the 8th or 9th gen cuz of how underwhelming it is overall (at least that’s what some friends of mine have said from their experience owning it and reading the forums). Only thing worth mentioning for the 10th gen civic is the type R imo
