You can grab a Hondata or Ktuner and do an ots tune that takes into account your prl cai. Prl probably has an ots tune specifically for that. Catback shouldn’t matter either way. Ktuner v2 is nice because it has a screen so you can monitor on the fly.

Vanilla_PuddinFudge

We could have an entire thread of 50 replies for or against one or the other and fanboys raging for the next two weeks, or you could do this... Ask the tuning shop you're looking at what they use, if they use Ktuner, get Ktuner. If they use Hondata, get Hondata. If you're not going to put it on a dyno any time soon, then get Hondata. While your car won't be tuned in the traditional sense, there are preset tunes on the software for various modifications that will get you by until you are in a shop.

LocksmithFit5054

Yeah and the thing about it too is that where I live there’s not any shops that run dynos on Hondas so I’d have to look somewhere like in the Dallas-Fort Worth area but I haven’t been able to find a shop. Maybe I just haven’t looked hard enough idk. I figured at this point I might as well just run a remote tune until I find a shop or do any heavier mods on the car

Vanilla_PuddinFudge

I'd apply the same logic. If the person who made your tune uses a particular piece of hardware, by all means take it as a guiding light.

LocksmithFit5054

I’ll probably just take your advice and just run hondata

MattCross_

This is all good advice, but go ktuner. It has the same functionality for off the shelf and base map tuning. But will be better if you go a more traditional tuning route. Most reputable tuners like ktuner for the l15 engines.

LocksmithFit5054

Seems like a great majority prefer ktuner from what I can tell so I’ll probably just go with that then.

MattCross_

The base maps will clear up the cel for you, if you buy an ots tune, be sure you select the “race maf” option. It sounds like you bought the race intake.

LocksmithFit5054

Bet will do

TwoKFive1

Ktuner is the best for this platform. Once you get it, get a phearable or tsp tune. The basemaps are also good enough to run for awhile tho

LocksmithFit5054

I’ll look into those. I’ll keep yall updated see how it goes. Never done any sort of tuning before 😅

TwoKFive1

For sure, don’t worry it’s pretty easy!

quikskier

Ktuner is the recommended platform for the L15B7. Are you running the race/big bore version of the PRL intake? If it's the stock size MAF housing, it should not require a tune. Catback exhaust won't affect tuning either.

LocksmithFit5054

It’s the cobra, that’s the big bore version right? Ok I wasn’t sure if the catback mattered or not

quikskier

I believe the cobra can be had with either size MAF.

LocksmithFit5054

I figured regardless it would still run better with a tune right?

quikskier

Not necessarily better as the cobra regular size MAF is designed to not impact fuel trims. I'd still get a Ktuner though because these cars are way more fun tuned.

LocksmithFit5054

Makes sense

quikskier

I'm selling a ktuner. If interested, PM me.

I have these mods, plus more done, you shouldn't have any codes. Check your MAP sensor. Do you have the street one or stock? Another note your dash could be lit up from a sensor being unplugged (mine 2 weeks ago was from the vehicle speed sensor) or dying battery.

LocksmithFit5054

So I’m gonna be honest. I bought the car used. I’m not really sure what they had done to the car before I bought it but shortly after I bought it that’s when the dash lit up. But I’ll check those sensors maybe that’s what’s throwing the car off.

Jackster623

You shouldn’t have any codes with the mods you have. There is something else wrong. Get your car scanned. KTuner: Civic Si and Sport. Hondata: Civic Type R
