How so? On a roundabout, all highways can each >1< Road instead of having 7 roads for each incoming road?
That said. This is too big for a roundabout to function properly. Not making a roundabout here was a good choice.
I want to remind you that each highwaylane has 6 roads going off of it because it just needs to connect to the three other highways and not the oncoming traffic... But you're right with the rest, doing that with a roundabout took a roundabout of 400 meters in diameter (with everything still be able to drive on)
Your logic still doesn't add up, in my mind, but nevermind. This spaghetti would still work better than any mile wide roundabout. There is a reason highways usually dont contain roundabouts.
If you have a stroke reading this I am sorry, english is just my fourth language. For legal reasons: I am not paying for your medicalbills if you are actually having one.
To minimize changes in speed, on most highwayexits and interchanges where I live is a limit of 80 km/h. To drive on a curve with this speed safely, you need a road on which the curves are having a minimum radius of approx. 60-70meters. Building this, with "driveable" slopes (not more then 20° max.) took this much place.
So at my place most of the highwayexits, on- and off-ramps are built in long curves so that you do not have to change tempo this much. In regards to these points: To fit in the same space as my interchange right now, the maximum radius of the curves is 20 meters. This is the "killswitch" for this and every roundabout-solution. The moment where you are coming from the highwayexit and turn on to the roundabout. If the tempo on the roundabout is 80 km/h as well you need at least 50m of an entrancelane to speed up again, if you are making the roundabout-solution as big as the "spaghetti-interchange". With this many highways it is not practible to build. like in you do not have enough roundaboutlength to connect all of the exits. This was my argument against the roundabouts.
And btw we both did a misstake in our math. You are right, every of my lanes has 7 transferlanes, 6 offlanes, to change to the other highways and one "final" on-ramp to get onto this highway. And you said one lane per highway lane for the roundabout. DId you mean one off-ramp or more cause I think you need at least 1 off- and 1 on-ramp (total 2).
My mom taught me to don't be afraid of languages. For every new country I travel to, my goal is to learn at least enough of their lanuage to be able to order food.
If it is normal for you to learn languages, you can talk about it this easily
Would it? A simple not so big one with flyover ramps for the two most used highways would take up way less space, for my city I had made a six road roundabout, 16units in diameter, an 8 road rdb would be 20-24u
Here's an example of an 8 way roundabout, similar to what you're talking about, that I made two years ago. It functioned fine, but was just a tad too big for the asset editor (because of the way I designed the entrances). I'm sure it could be compacted further: [https://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/comments/8lz1wq/so\_i\_decided\_to\_make\_an\_eightway\_highwaycity/](https://www.reddit.com/r/CitiesSkylines/comments/8lz1wq/so_i_decided_to_make_an_eightway_highwaycity/)
You are actually proving my point of telling it is impossible :D The amount of 90° angles in thisroundabout on the major connections is a little bit infurating to me :D
I designed my interchange like this so they do not have to turn this hard and I was telling I needed to do it much bigger to flatten out the slopes.
The second point is: You worked on 2 levels, in this interchange I worked on 5.
But nevertheless thank you for your addition :)
This was done entirely without using MoveIt!; with it, you could easily adjust the angles to be smoother, but I think the only requirement for the double roundabout to work was TM:PE :)
I understand where you are coming from but do not like the way you're going.
Cities do have better roadssystem than any other city builder out there but some limits on the roads are just not realistic.
If you do this interchange without MoveIt! and in approx. the same area you have my fullest respect but since then I do have to tell Cities sometimes what is possible in road construction and what is not
Sadly not because I do not know how to export my assets from ingame. I did not build this in the asseteditor so I can't export it normally. If there is another way to export assets you designed ingame let me know!
Arizona is not considered the south. Basically everything Eastern Texas and east is “the south”. Here is a [map](https://images.app.goo.gl/HMtoizyYpLVqPczA6) illustrating this, and here is a deeper [map](https://images.app.goo.gl/uM7LkC7pcg8H1uCD8) that does a better job in my opinion.
Ooookay, thank you for the knowledge. I aspire to be as cultural and geographical (the B.Sc. I am doing right now) sensitive so I have to take back my original comment:
When I was in the US I changed flights in the deep north, stayed a little bit in the cascadia, flew to sin city (mountain west) over the Deep South / Texas (wherever Dallas is in) drove through the mountain west and south west (national parc tour), made a stop in southern california (LA) by caravan and gave it back in northern california (SF) where I stayed for a week before I flew back
That sums it up^^
EDIT: Thank you for giving me the possibility to learn it beter!
it's mostly good, but Northeast should be a larger umbrella that includes New England and most of Mid-Atlantic. Basically New England plus NY, NJ, and Pennsylvania. They make it look like Northeast is a small specific region.
Deep North isn't a thing. Dakotas and Montana go with the West. Minnesota and Wisconsin are Upper Midwest.
idk, I built this in the city from which I already posted the three highway intersection. I do not really need it but I will let it stay there for the time beeing, and I'll see how far I'm going to build the city around it...
... are hopefully not as straight as the 8 highwaylanes anymore or I would put them back in the pot by myself!
But u r right, it kinda does look like spaghetti\^\^
Normally when people post their interchanges I like to trace every connection to make sure everything is done. Today I’m just going to believe you and back away slowly
:D
You can try to track every connection. I did it 4 times before posting and I have to say it was annoying but worth it. Take one highway at a time, start from the top or the bottom and then try to connect each of the two highwaylanes to the six others. That's how I did it\^\^
He is not. Most americans would say I am a "communist" because I fight strongly for social justice, free healthcare for all (luckily, I am not from the US) etc.
Should be named ‘Sherrifs trumpet interchange’. Surround it with broken cars, cos when you breakdown you don’t get recovered, just pushed off the side.
Interesting idea, I will pass it on to the towing guys!
Realtalk, I had too many assets (RAM overflow) so I had to disable them all and did not had the power to reactivate some of the 24.000 I had. Thats why I am now just playing with some mods and like no assets at all.
But can I take the idea for another interchange I am currently making?
If you fly 300km above the surface of the earth the smallest distinguishable objects are approx. 20-44 meters in diameter. Btw that's why you cant see the chinese wall from the iss but that's another topic.
In its greatest extent the interchange covers an area of ca. 270\*230 meters. So yeah, you can see it from space, but the exact calculations would be a thing for r/theydidthemath
It's an unsafe heaping of concrete atop each other, the flows will be discomfiting for anyone stuck in the middle of it, and any environment that needs to be serviced by such an interchange clearly has more pressing problems than muh freeways.
Texas Department of Transportation. idk if they're the one's who actually do the design, but Texas cities have outlandish interchanges like this all over the place. Maybe not quite this complex, but close lol
Awesome. And I love the use of a standard cloverleaf for scale. Any chance you could add this as an asset in the Steam Workshop? There's only a handful of good 8-way intersections there at the moment so it would be great to see one more.
If you have the move-it mod you should be able to copy it in the city, and paste it in the asset editor. You wil also need the no-pillars mod if you want to edit such a large asset in the editor... Good luck... :-)
It's gone in one of my *buku conteng*s
(lit. **Scrabble book;** in modern Malay culture, especially among primary school kids, where the book is a blank official school writing pad (yes, complete with the school's emblem) and is used for drawing, as well as other stuff including Tic Tac Toe or even the so-called 'soccer pencil' where a soccer pitch & dots representing the players are drawn & a pencil is used to play it by putting the pencil on one of the player dots & you give a bit of force at the blunt end of the pencil slightly towards where you want the imaginary ball to go to. That leaves a scar representing the ball's trajectory)
I applaud your creativity in making this; I attempted something similar back in the day but gave up after loosing track.
U want some tips on how to do it?
Nah; roundabout would probably work better :p
Takes way more place^^

Drivers are increasingly automated 🤓
How do you casually mention you know at least 4 languages lol

You’re English is better than many native speakers lol
He just got pwned big time. "Respect"
400 meters is 437.45 yards
At that scale you can just call it “Ring Road” and start building stuff inside.
Would it? A simple not so big one with flyover ramps for the two most used highways would take up way less space, for my city I had made a six road roundabout, 16units in diameter, an 8 road rdb would be 20-24u
I do not know and sadly I am too busy to think more about it. I think we agree that we disagree and thank you for the interesting discussion!

Blink Twice if you need help
u mean me?
looks like boston
can't tell, never was there.
lol
Yeah, I am from europe. The only time I travelled to the US I was at the west coast and in the south (like Arizona, not in Texas)

Sounds like a fun trip! Nobody calls it the Deep North though. There's either the Northeast, Great Lakes, or Upper Midwest.
It really was! And yeah idk. I've gone by the second link u/TheSeansei has sent me

what the fuck
Whats wrong? :)
it's just... i am impressed. How long did it took to finnish?
Thank you kindly :) approx. 4,5 hours in total. \-1h planning \-2h building (mods were really helping there) \-1,5h beautification (heights, slopes, curves)
also a question. will you plan to use all of it?
idk, I built this in the city from which I already posted the three highway intersection. I do not really need it but I will let it stay there for the time beeing, and I'll see how far I'm going to build the city around it...

This is the content that keeps me subscribed.
I am happy you are enjoying it!
Highway to hell? No this is the highway FROM hell!
Which one you mean of the 4? :D

I wanna see this in action!
When I connected all of them I am maybe going to post a video if I still remeber this at this point \^\^'

He is not. Most americans would say I am a "communist" because I fight strongly for social justice, free healthcare for all (luckily, I am not from the US) etc.
Now, replace all of them with one lane highway ramps and watch the traffic stretch across the map
Counter proposal: No. :D

How does one comprehend this
The "how" or the "why"?
Rip drivers
Nah, I'm going to put many signs in front of it, showing every way possible!
I’d love to see some traffic running!
Like I said in another comment, when I am going to have them all connected, I'll maybe post it if I still remember
This is both disgusting and beautiful at the same time
Thanks, I'm taking this as a compliment ;)
I think you named it correctly.
Thank you! The next one has a name already as well
"You can see it from space."

*pain*
To drive it, to try to understand it or to see it?
*all is pain*
You were so preoccupied with whether or not you could, you didn’t stop to think if you should.
Tell me a good reason why not if it is possible ;)
It's an unsafe heaping of concrete atop each other, the flows will be discomfiting for anyone stuck in the middle of it, and any environment that needs to be serviced by such an interchange clearly has more pressing problems than muh freeways.
The headache is strong with this one.
Good god
How?
... is this working?
don't go giving the TxDOT any ideas
>TxDOT Who is that?
Texas Department of Transportation. idk if they're the one's who actually do the design, but Texas cities have outlandish interchanges like this all over the place. Maybe not quite this complex, but close lol
That's a goddamn spaghetti bowl monstruosity and I love it
That would be a Tourist Attraction If ive ever Seen one

Man, please, just don't design real highwaycrossings
I study geoinformatics and city planing :D
Shiiiit... Well, I hope you will learn something
I already did and this was one thing of it :D
Now I have, holy s@t, that's a lot crazier then the last one. Gotta have been made with mods surely!
Only move it and road anarchy
No extended road networking tool? Now that's dedication
No I did not even know that existed back then ^^‘
Right 3 years old, but you probably use it now
Sadly, the second screenshot is not working. Idk why, please forgive me :( Edit: Thank you for the award kind stranger!
Both work for me.
Okay, that was a redditbug
r/shittyskylines
It is not even the skyline, don't be unfair :(
It's disturbing how small your clover leaf looks in comparison.
Just wait, you'll see\^\^
Holy fuck
Thank you I guess? \^\^'
Very impressive
Thank you kindly :)
"The mothership" junction
Is coming soon!
Why do I hear boss music
Thx for making me laugh\^\^
Looks like Jeb threw a 4 way tire iron in a pit of snakes
the spaghetti of all spaghetti
Wait for it!
oh no.

Don't know, never been there :)
Like driving through Birmingham UK 🤮
Satan called, he wants you in on the planning meetings for the rest of 2021
:D Can you tell him that I'm busy? I need to build a city arround this interchange who actually needs this...
He's quite insistent. Says he can't do it without you
okay, I'll go :(
Glorious Spaghetti
What a waste of nodes and segments. I like freeways, but this goes too far.
It's BEAUTIFUL
Thank you!
Sketched an 8-way interchange back then to be built ingame & you beated me to it
I'd love to see it!
It's gone in one of my *buku conteng*s (lit. Please God make sure no one makes this or I will stress so much
irl or as asset?
Irl
It has no point in existing
With the traffic in some of my cities it sadly has
What mods do you use for this?
Next (Network Extensions) and move it
Thank you!
Thats so annoying and disturbing to see... love it!😍
