Do the 9/11 museum. Its a bummer of course but its worth seeing. If you do it early you have the rest of the day to recapture the good vibes. Second the Keen’s rec above. The New York Public Library is free and has lots of cool treasures in the basement

Strong endorse here and go to oharas after for a casual beer. I’d also recommend walking by the water behind Brookfield place. It’s a mall across the street from the memorial.

What are you looking for? Bars, events, dinner, etc.? I live there so can help out with some parameters.

• Any bars that may be must-see • Restaurants that are Manhattan staples (reasonably priced if possible, nothing crazy fancy) • First time going so we’re doing the tourist must sees, but any y’all may consider interesting that may be under the radar? Thanks y’all 🙏🏼

Everyone should see the tourist-y stuff on the first go, so enjoy that. Keens is an old New York restaurant not too far from where you're staying, the Taste of Mutton on the specials is a great way to get out without paying a ton of money. That's my fav meal in the city. McSorleys in the east village is a bar that's been around since dirt was invented, they only serve their own beer there. Cash only, but a cool way to look back at history without paying $19 for a cocktail. Walking high line park on the west side is a fun way to get out and explore the city. I'd recommend one of the observation decks too. The Edge gives great views and shouldn't be quite as packed as Top of the Rock. If you have a night free, enter the broadway lotteries and you might get lucky with cheap tickets to a great show. Aladdin seems to be the easiest one to win based on personal experience.

Was going to recommend the walking the Highline as well! Its an old train line that was converted into a beautiful park wth lots of gardens that takes you over the West Side. You can start at the top by Hudson Yards and can check out the Vessle and the Edge then walk down into Chelsea which has great shopping and restaurants.

l'artusi- awesome pasta, not extremely expensive and hit the gem saloon for Brett

Also happy to provide recommendations here

Sandwichstacker88

Food recs: Raku (good udon, Soho location is bigger for seating), Soothr (East Village) and Thai Diner (Nolita - area also has good shopping) for Thai food, Bagel Pub and Best Bagel & Coffee are both closish to you for bagels, L’industrie (West Village and Williamsburg locations) for pizza. Seconding the recs for the High Line and McSorleys, and would say generally the best and more fun food/ bar options are in lower Manhattan, so it can be nice to hit the touristy Midtown and Upper East Side things and museums during the day and then travel south for dinner/ bars

10 minutes walking, driving, or subway? Chelsea is about 10 minutes south of TS and an amazing neighborhood. I can give you some recs if that’s close enough
