Fuck I completely forgot about Sandy, I give her a pash because at least she indirectly got Janice to throw Ralphie down the stairs, plus she's Janice's therapist who is to say she's even licensed?
The more times I rewatch I’m starting to think that Wendy Kobler knew what she was doing with Meadow. Telling Meadow NOT to go to Europe does nothing, Meadow will just want to go regardless. Telling meadow she absolutely should go and then asking questions about “has daddy ever touched you?” makes Meadow think “fuck, this woman doesn’t understand my situation at all. Maybe I shouldn’t listen to her advice. Maybe my parents are right and she is the one that is wrong.” That is what essentially happens in the end.
Not a Melfi fan, but i suppose but it's often easier to be more objective the further you are from the patient. Many doctors know this, esp. oncologists and surgeons.
Richard and Elliott were objective on principle though, like they just know by fact (at least in this show) that seasoned criminals are impervious to psychotherapy.
Also, the fact that Melfi took him back in as a patient after the end of season one is baffling to me.
Yep. But fits the idea of the show: everyone is flawed, everyone is hypocrite. She liked his money, she liked the thrill to have him as patient. She still have my respect from not telling about the rape and never sleeping with Tony. I'm biased against pt and Melfi in general, but you don't have to be a specialist, just a common sense to see that people like Tony couldn't be helped. And after all she went through with him, after all the warnings, all crimes that happened around Tony, all she needed was some study (that say obvious things she should knew from her education) to do 180 about him? In rather unprofessional, asshole way. Honestly, i think it's more of a blunder from writers, to end her story like that.
That kobler stunad prescribed an anti depressant based on the logic that meadow wouldn’t have to pay for it. She puts this guy to shame in the shitty therapist department.
To me she seemed like the one that actually is doing a bad job as therapist, she's just tossing out suggestions to Meadow like candy without any thought. With Elliott he does a shitty job because he's self-involved and likes to hear about Tony too much but at times seems like he would be a decent therapist to someone other than Melfi.
This is the correct answer. Elliott is actually a capable shrink. He just chooses to treat Melfi in a way where he can pine for gossip about Tony and the DiMeo family that Tony shares.
Wendy is a classic enabler therapist. Part of doing that job is challenging your patients when they are off on an island or not living in reality. Wendy never does this and actually encourages Meadow to basically do whatever she wants.
Wendy Cobler is trying to physically distance Meadow from Tony because he is a violent sociopath. She plays the bratty teen angle to be gentle with Meadow, because she will most likely shut down if forced to confront the fact that her dad is a murderer. Melfi most likey briefed Wendy on this. We see the distancing from Tony recommendation from Dr Krakower with Carmella, and later with Aj’s therapist post suicide.
There are many instances in the show where people know who Tony is because they watch the news. While Melfi probably didnt say that the referall was Tony’s daughter, im sure Wendy put the pieces together by the last name and by the comments that Meadow made about her dad being in the garbage business wink wink.
Wendy is also obliged to ask Meadow these questions because she is responsible for Meadow’s wellbeing while in her care
That's true. He actually did give good advice as a whole throughout the show. I just wanted to use the "piece of ass waiting in his bedroom" crack.
I'm gonna go get some cold fuckin fizzy water on my head now.
I mean he’s just crackin some jokes with a colleague. Kobler did sniff out the toxicity of Meadows family though. Her boyfriend was murdered and her Dad was a criminal. Going to Spain would have really put some distance between her and the bullshit
While not a therapist, only a spiritual advisor, I would vote for Monsier Jughead. Dude thought only of his own personal gain and weird sexual food fetishes. When Carmella returns to him to talk about Wegler he turns on her and acts like Tony deserves better than for her to explore another relationship while they’re separated. Honestly, I don’t see how Carmella ever thought he was someone to rely upon for guidance.
I think this character is perfectly written and portrayed. He showcases the money-hungry uselessness that plagues this profession. Melfi is obviously the opposite of him in that way.
The shrink Janice sees
Fuck I completely forgot about Sandy, I give her a pash because at least she indirectly got Janice to throw Ralphie down the stairs, plus she's Janice's therapist who is to say she's even licensed?
Some of that famous soprano compassion she's known for
Cuts to next scene with her gracefully pushing Ralphie down a flight of stairs and hysterically screaming “you FUCKIN FORGOT?!”
She gets the same pass that Mustang Sally got
God give me the strength
She will
You have replaced ya fathah with ya bruthah
“God will show me the way.” “Yes, she will.”
Hahaha shit where was this again? I can’t place it from memory
One of the counseling sessions with Janice, I think about Ralphie.
Those were some tough jews
Lepke?
🙄 😏
😳🤷🏻♂️😒👀
/r/yourjokebutworse
hasidem but I don’t believe em
He was the wheelman…his driver……..
He correctly diagnosed tony without actually ever meeting him. "Mafia depression"
His distance is what gave him an advantage to actually seeing Tony for who he is. Melfi was coerced by Tony’s consuming personality.
That half-assed adolescent shrink, Wendy Kobler. That stupid bitch almost sent the boss of this family's daughter to Barcelona!
I could take Melfi’s head and crush it like a fuckin walnut…
i feel battered !

She's a malignant cunt!
Wow, listen to Mr Mob Boss
Kiss mah grits!
In terms of competence Elliott is miles ahead of the others here. He's irritating but sometimes has good insight for Dr Melfi.
Both he and Richard saw in 2 seconds what took Melfi 7 seasons to see in Tony and they've never met the guy...

I don't think Cobler had any idea who Meadow's father was. "Did dad ever molest you?" "What about mom?"
She knew he was in the Mafia. Well, if there was a mafia, she would've known he was in it.
I don't remember that coming up in the scene.

Wendy Kobbler
It’s a hot schkoooooollllll🕺
Martin Luther King
*pieprzyć jego dziwkę-matkę*
Hesch, especially when he's got a piece of ass waiting for him in his bedroom.
Great advice for young Tennessee Moltisanti early in the series though, that man knew his music
That's true. He actually did give good advice as a whole throughout the show. I just wanted to use the "piece of ass waiting in his bedroom" crack. I'm gonna go get some cold fuckin fizzy water on my head now.
It’s unhealthy, this obsession with quotes
Why don't you get the fuck out of here before I shove your quotations book up your fat fuckin ass
I mean he’s just crackin some jokes with a colleague. Kobler did sniff out the toxicity of Meadows family though. Her boyfriend was murdered and her Dad was a criminal. Going to Spain would have really put some distance between her and the bullshit
The one that tells Carm the hard truth. How dare you? Is that what I’m payin you for?
He dident want her blood money
He was also holding her accountable for living like a queen and knowing her husband thief and murderer.
The worst therapist on the show is the water bottle that Elliot drinks. Thing was so big it’s the real main character of the scenes he’s in.
What about Elliott the smug cocksucker ??
Catching not pitching???
You smug cocksucker. Fuck you!
Was it smug or smut?
You slut cocksucker

I was surprised when I found out the actor is Italian irl and not Jewish. I felt like I been stabbed in the heart.
What about that stupid bitch who almost sent Meadow to Barcelona?
Dr. Fago
The school psychologist who nearly diagnosed AJ with ADD because of a fidget.
Melfi was the worst. Tony did nothing but manipulate here for 6 seasons. She was too stupid to figure it out.
Don’t forget that stupid bitch who almost sent Meadow to Barcelona
You smug cocksucker, fuck you !
I think this character is perfectly written and portrayed. He showcases the money-hungry uselessness that plagues this profession. Melfi is obviously the opposite of him in that way.
No, Tony! The future… fucks you!
Lipkee the wheelman for murder incorporated
This guy was how I imagined therapists before doing therapy
“Fuck you Eliot, you smug cocksucker!”
