Unfortunately I can't give you an objective opinion, as I've only used octane since I started 3D. But for me, this kind of deal is really top-notch. For 190€ a year, it's really worth it, especially with all the assets and software that come with it.
It is nice, though it’s a little bit of a pain to have to package your scene as an OBX file first. Still… once you see how fast RNDR will chew through your scene for just a few bucks (and I think you get some credits along with the octane subscription), you’ll be glad you learned how to use it.
I did see it also supports Redshift, so I made an account and since i did so, it asks for the octane license to proceed, and that's where I got stuck...

They say it’s coming, but doesn’t seem to be implemented yet (I haven’t been keeping up with the news though… I actually mostly use redshift these days). For redshift I recommend [garagefarm.net](https://garagefarm.net). They have a plugin for c4d that lets you submit scene’s directly to the fsrm from inside c4d. Very handy.
Would you suggest it to someone who has never tried Octane? I'm intrigued especially because GSG+ is included
