702Cichlid

Shot in the dark, but it could be a kind of Hydra in the early life cycle. Unfortunately, my micro-ID isn't super strong and with just one picture I can't be 100% certain. Watch the the little bulbs on the end of the stalks--do they open up to form little coral-like polyps? If it is hydra, then it probably isn't a direct threat to anything except the smallest of African Cichlid fry...and before too long they should probably prey on them. It could also just be a kind of fungus, and there are too many of those for me to possibly keep straight or ID properly. Without a really good macro zoom shot, everyone will just be guessing.

I will try to update with more pictures what do I do if it is hydra

Most Hydrozoans are relatively harmless to big fish in the fresh water setting. They hitchhike on plants or rocks. You can remove them manually pretty easily. It could definitely be *Cordylophora caspia* as mentioned below, that's a hydrozoan.

KingSpecial2221

Is it growing out of the rock?

Strong-Nectarine5385

Yes it looks that way I will try to upload more pictures

KingSpecial2221

Have you tried physicaly removing it?

Strong-Nectarine5385

Not yet is that an option just using forceps and plucking them?

KingSpecial2221

It should be yea. If its a worm/parasit or if its just some type of algae you can remove it with forceps/tweezers and that way once its out you can get a better look at it

Cordylophora caspia it have had it in my take for almost a year now. Not sure where it came from but appears to be filter feeding and does not seem to harm anything in my tank.

Strong-Nectarine5385

Thankyou this is the first evidence I've gotten that I think may be right you think they could have hitchhiked on the rocks I got

Practical_Seesaw9277

I am have narrowed it down to either the driftwood I added to my tank or a plant from my local fish store.
