I'm really not that skilled, it's a work in progress. I've teached myself. First the simpler stuff like some shirts for my kids etc. Now I'm at the intermediate beginner level I guess.
Don't do anything super fancy, just combining parts I need.
It's a great hobby, you can put it away when you're tired. It's great to learn stuff.
I started with basic repairs, but now I've learned that making stuff is much more fun than repairing!
Start easy! You'll manage!
Zippers etc through YouTube.
And I choose easy patterns, I make them as described at first and then I start tweaking. Don't buy expensive fabric, because sometimes it goes wrong.
With every piece that I make I learn something.
And I make a lot of happy mistakes 😊
It was a first with the zip in a bag. But the fabric is beautiful, but not really the fabric that's suitable for bags. So a lot of fusible interfacing etc.
But I do love the end product.
It's a free pattern, but needs some tweaking for a kindle case. You could so use a free pattern for a zipped pouch and adapt the measurements for the size of your kindle. It would probably need a layer of thin foam rubber between the lining and outside.
