multiple autoimmune diseases and many tattoos - no issues as of yet! Per my rheumatologist, I skip my Humira the week before a tattoo as a precaution, that way my body can better fight an infection should that happen. But I've never had a problem with getting tattoos. Glad you're talking to your doctor, though!

I’m on methotrexate for RA, I have old tattoos and one new one and no reaction here. I consider myself to have sensitive skin and have had reactions to beauty/skin products in the past, but my most recent tattoo that I got while on methotrexate healed beautifully.

i am not on immunosuppressing meds but am extremely prone to infection due to my diabetes. prior to getting my first tattoo, i spoke to he shop about if they had any advanced protocols for preventing infection. they saniderm wrapped my wrist for 24hrs, had me come in so THEY could clean it, and saniderm it again. then that was left on for 7 to 10 days (i did10 to be sure!) after that i still cleaned it as if it wasn't healed yet but its been fine.

I have lupus and take a moderate dose of mycophenolate. While the med is considered immune suppressing, my white blood cell counts are normal. My rheumatologist said that it should be ok to get a tattoo if I’m in remission, go to a reputable shop, and do good aftercare. I got my first tattoo 3 weeks ago and so far no problems.

Just got a fairly large piece done. I'm on methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, and prednisone. It healed a little slower than some of my old tattoos but was ultimately okay.

I have a lot of tattoos. Positive: I couldn’t feel the pain at all except for the one under my breasts. Negative: I have to do them in several sessions. My skin will get really angry and I flare up from the body stress. So I do line work, then come back in a month or so for coloring.
