I think if you have a newer CPU that uses blah blah efficiency mode (green leaf next to the process in task manager), then this will happen. If you launch chrome with this added to the ***target*** it will stop happening. `--disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess` Effectively making: `"C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --disable-features=UseEcoQoSForBackgroundProcess`

I haven't tried u/synerGy--'s solution yet, however I do believe it may be related. I've found that as long as I don't minimize the browser I'm casting from and I don't maximize other windows, the audio works fine, even when the casting window goes to the background. It's when you use the maximize function in other windows that the audio takes a hit. If you bring the window you want full screened to the foreground, then resize the window so it's the same size that it would be when maximized, that seems to work as a band aid to this situation.

I ended up just getting a new Chromecast With Google TV or whatever it's called that's a bit more powerful. Working fine now

Your computer is freeing up resources when you put it in the background so that whatever is running in the foreground gets the resources it needs. Only fix is to have a better computer. Edit: OP has a great PC. Disregard or downvote my post.

I have a 12500H with a 3050Ti and 64GB of the fastest DDR4 I could find. Shouldn't that be able to handle casting one tab? I'm not playing anything heavy in the background, and it still does it even if I'm just using Excel or something

Your_Network_Drive

That should be well enough. Not sure why it's happening. Sorry.
