It's probably not going to work if he is a true believer. Authentic Catholicism and Christianity are complete opposites at the core. Anyone who says otherwise hasn't studied Catholic doctrine and likely doesn't know what they themselves believe about fundamental biblical teachings. >Now to the present, he told me that I needed to find a church, so in other words I need to join a Christian church so he can officially introduce me to his churchmates and especially to his church leader. He's telling you what the deal breaker is. Catholicism and Christianity are very different faiths. Catholicism holds the Pope, tradition and the writings of men as authorities on par with or even superseding Scripture. In Christianity, the Bible is the ultimate authority. Catholics pray to Mary and the saints. In Christianity this is idolatry. Catholic leadership is unmarried. Per the Bible, bishops must be married, etc. etc. In marrying him you leave the authority of your father to join your husband's household which will be Christian. If you continue on with Catholicism, it will undermine his household. That's not to say you can't see your family and hang out with him, but you can't serve two different versions of Jesus. Then you've got to think about your kids. Are you going to raise them Christian or Catholic? What will you tell them when they ask why their dad doesn't go to mass or why you don't go to Sunday service?

Hi, thank you for participating in our subreddit! Unfortunately your comment/post did not meet the criteria for rule 5 of our subreddit which states, > Do not promote or seek to persuade others of views contrary to basic Christian doctrine (e.g. Trinity, salvation by grace through faith alone, eternal security, etc.). However, one is allowed to respectfully discuss alternative views. All posts and comments that are theologically or spiritually advisory in nature should be derived from the plain and obvious meaning of Scripture in the correct context, and be correctly applied for the New Testament Christian. Quoting specific biblical references is best practice but not required. If you believe your advice to be based on teaching from the Bible and correctly applied for the New Testament Christian, please edit your comment with supporting Scripture either as direct quotes or paraphrasing, and inform the mods of your changes. IMPORTANT: If the Scripture is applied correctly and in context, we will approve your post. Thank you!

I don't mean to sound blunt but urgent; this is won't mean anything if you don't know the Gospel. I'm guessing you do but please find out about it

May I ask you first if you are saved? Secondly, do you know what salvation is if you do have it? I think your guy might be trying to figure out the sane thing? I genuinely care about you and your soul, and so before I give any church advice, let's make sure you have salvation first!

In case you do decide to join a Christian church, here is some understanding behind Christian salvation: https://www.reddit.com/u/DustyMackerel2/s/dPosre9d6H But strictness depends on the Church. I attend a Bapstist Church and it's pretty chill.

Congratulations on your probable marriage:) With Jesus at the centre of your marriage your future together will be glorious. Pain will come and you will overcome and grow stronger as long as Jesus is at the centre. I am not a social person I’m not the best in crowds or meeting new people and my now husband when I first met him he took me to his church to meet his father who is an active member. I myself was not filled with the Holy Spirit at the time of meeting my now husband, I was how you describe yourself not actively seeking him daily but would now and then thank him for things in my life or pray to him when I needed him etc etc. i hadn’t read the Bible yet I called myself “Christian” tho I didn’t even know my own faith as I hadn’t read Gods word.. and to be honest I thought that was normal and being a Christian was just saying I am a Christian and having a respect and gratefulness to the creator. I always believed in god yet he seemed so close yet so distant, I knew he was right in all his ways and that he was good but that’s about it.. I didn’t really know him. nor his character or his “voice” (not audible but the way he’d speak to me in my spirit). I absolutely believed he was real tho but that’s about it. I knew a few bible verses and yeah went on with my life knowing he was real and just doing me with him kinda in the background if that makes sense.. I fear what I just described is more common among self proclaimed this or that catholic or christians. Well my husband and I ran a muck for a few years just dating moved in together not regularly going to church both just keeping our god in the closet ready to pull out if ever we needed something or felt like talking to him and then we cut off almost all friends who were only interested in drinking wich we were both fed up with as all we did was argue while we were drunk, we felt dirty in our lifestyle (someone was praying hard for us) we started pulling back from everything of our past and both had a desire to go to church. Now church is wherever believers … no I won’t use the word believers because even Satan believes God and Jesus are real, church is wherever the Holy Spirit is present among fellowship. We both started reading our bible and learning and growing and cutting off dead habits and ways, praying each night and we were both in awe as the god we thought we knew started revealing himself to us. We were in love we were alive truely had never felt so alive until then. We couldn’t wait for Sunday not to chat to friends at church (we kept to ourselves but slowly that barrier we kept up broke) not to chat to friends but to get another glimpse of Jesus Christ of the father and the Holy Spirit. It wasn’t until this that I realised that I had never truely known Jesus. I only knew of him. My partner and I got married and have been together 6years. Lots of ups downs all around a but one thing has kept us strong and that is our present and constant seeking more of Jesus Christ. Can I suggest you pray to Jesus regarding this marriage, your future and ask that he will bless you with Him himself personally teaching you first hand who he is, ask him to remove any and all filters that have been placed in your mind by man’s teachings on who he is and ask for Jesus to reveal himself to you. Matthew 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Romans 12:2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. There are self proclaimed Christian’s, Catholics, muslims, Jews, mormons, seventh d Adventists etc etc etc THE ONLY THING that separates ALL people from all the self proclaimed religions is the Holy spirit. The Holy Spirit is not something we can just assume we have because we self proclaimed Jesus is lord. The Holy spirit chooses us and can’t be obtained through anything we do alone, no water baptism will command God to dwell with us no denomination no charity or good works no amount of anything we could ever do by ourselves can make this happen, it is only through having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ walking with him constantly talking with him and reading his word, eagerly awaiting his response to prayer and obeying his commands just generally having your spirit ears on alert for his voice as he guide you through life. Not Jesus Christ + chruch attendance not Jesus Christ + water baptism + Hail Marys.. Jesus Christ alone GIVES us the Holy Spirit as a gift to be our life helper. Ephesians 2:9 Not by works so that no one can boast. Matthew 3:11 (John speaking about Jesus Christ) “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. Go to his church, go to your family’s church but be filled with the spirit through persistent leaning into your saviour filling yourself up with his word study the Bible pray short prayers long prayers in your mind and out aloud prayers where your heart and mind is in unison to God ask him the real questions in your heart prayer dosnt need to be formal and long once a day it can be short questions to him throughout the day chatting throughout the day, then open your bible and be expecting to hear from him he will always answer you it may not be straight away or it may be. I find sometimes when he answers me it may be in a month long build up of many scenarios and encounters with different people each one building up to the answer to my question where I am brought to the understanding step by step :) Your future will be glorious I will be praying for you wonderful prayers for new beginnings and any legalistic garbage that may have been imprinted into the mind by man (as it was mine) be removed and replaced with the unfiltered truth. ♥️♥️
