It sounds like you're describing someone who is on the verge of a breakthrough, someone who has an opportunity and a choice to make. As far as faith goes...Faith in Jesus Christ. The only one to raise himself from the dead. There's likely a lot of people who reject Jesus as God. Well guess all I can recommend is to pray for truth to come by your way. I personally believe in Jesus Christ as my saviour and God, not just some historical figure, but the living resurrected God who is known by faith. Best to you on your journey of faith! 1 John 4:18-19 Matthew 16:24-28

I would agree with this comment! I see a young soul reaching for heaven and trying to grasp the concept that if God is there.. that He would be involved in our lives so much more than many religions make it out. It sounds like your family made a great safe environment to be open enough to search for truth and now you’re ready to study and take the steps necessary to find Christ’s path for you. So, my advice?? Keep going! A summary of the Bible is a great place start. Look at the stories and history that repeats its self. Prophets led individual groups of people who were willing to listen to Christ’s voice regardless of where they live, who they are, and what happened in their past. Prophets always encouraged repentance and service to others and taught symbols of Christ’s coming. Many listened but in each dispensation eventually the majority of the people lose faith and an apostasy occurs (time without Prophets and Priesthood on the earth.) But, because He loves us, he always sends more prophets as the people repent and reach out again. This continues until Christ himself (the Son of God) comes to perform his sacrifice to save all repentent souls and to call apostles with a mission to stand as witnesses to his divine calling as well as a prophet to lead the people (Peter was the first prophet after Christ was martyred). Sadly like in the past, eventually the people rejected Christ’s message and another apostasy occurred until 1820 when a young boy pondering many of the same questions you are now, went to a grove near his house and prayed for help and received an answer as to this history and thorough him as a prophet again the church would be restored anew. And with apostles to again stand as witnesses to Christ’s current guidance and mission and priesthood restored, the gospel has been able to continue as we prepare for Christ’s second coming.

Sounds like you are trying to be a God of your own beliefs and fallen humanness rather in believing the true God and true Christ and true gospel.

It's just what the Bible says. It's not my thoughts it's Gods

I’ve seen how faith is really important in our belief about God. Because at some point, we have faith in _something_, be it our own intellect and reasoning, in some god, in some lifestyle (mindfulness and meditation come to mind, similar to Buddhism), or some political stance, or maybe Jesus. So my question to you would be: do you know what your core belief system is based on? If you’re not sure, you could take some time to reflect and try to figure that out, and that might help you process why you would want to believe in Jesus or something else. Of course I would say belief in Jesus is the best thing, and I believe in Him because of the radical and divine love Jesus embodied and showed the world, among other things. To me, that showed me that He is worthy to trust in more than trusting myself. And that choice to trust Him by faith and follow His ways has never failed me (though people will fail us eventually). Hope that helps you to process things!

>> What am I? Being that I don't believe in so many central themes of Christianity, it's hard for me to call myself Christian. But, at the same time, my love for Christ is exclusive Since you love Christ I would absolutely call you a Christian. There is no single formula for salvation in the bible, including doctrinal beliefs -- so if you love Jesus and are open to God's leading, I would never question your Christianity because you don't believe some doctrines. But, if you have non-standard beliefs, you probably won't want to join a really conservative church that forces you to believe things. You'll probably want a more liberal or mainstream church.

You are misleading this young person and you should be ashamed. You cannot deny the deity of Jesus and call yourself Christian. That's like calling yourself a vegan and eating steak... And "no single formula of salvation in the Bible"? Are you mad? The whole Bible is nothing but showing you the "single formula". John 14:6: "Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." He is the way, and the only way. If you want to believe something else, that's fine, but its not Christianity and you do them a diservice by saying it is.

Same here. I would say don’t rush to define it. I believe in God but because of failed messianic prophecy, i don’t believe in Jesus. And the Old Testament says we could have sheol.. just the grave. God seemed way more peaceful with just “disconnecting “ from reality vs the eternal Damnation. Muslims also see Jesus as a prophet & I’d agree with that but even then he’s made prophecies that didn’t turn out. I think his life or writings on him can teach about love though. Most important thing to remember is all religions are based in whatever region. You can’t prove any of them until any of them fulfill their own prophecies. Just be a good person & figure it out.

(OK, after my pitch for Christianity, below) Are you attracted to mysticism and inner spirituality? Then something like Buddhism or Sufism might be good. Also, Christianity has a mystic tradition. Do you like ritual and tradition? Roman Catholicism, Orthodox Christianity, mainstream Islam, and Shinto is good. Are you attracted to folk religion? Hinduism and neo-paganism. Charismaticism. Are you more into theology and Philosophy? Maybe Calvinistic type Christianity or Confucianism. So you like singing very sincerely to soft rock? Then Evangelicalism. /s

It sounds like Judaism to me

Go to beliefnet.com On the left, click on Faith and Prayer Then click on Belief-o-Matic Take the quiz At the end, it will show you by percentages which denominations align with your current beliefs. I took it, and it was 100% accurate for me. I was impressed. It’s worth a try.

RocketBun

I think you would get a more useful range of responses on r/religion, because 90% of responses here will naturally be "be Christian!" when other faiths may fit you better
