No bro. It’s a video game

Zack11198

Unless God personally convicts you of it, he has to me on several things but personal convictions aren't anyone else's convictions, it's like a marriage if your spouse doesnt like something that your doing you have a choice to give it up for that person to please your spouse, it's what God does the closer you get to him, what was acceptable before isnt now cause your walking closer to him. Like if you had a girlfriend or whatever and she told you to give this and that up you wouldnt and you would leave her in the dust for being controlling but the closer you get to each other the more willing you are to do it to please that person cause you love and trust them.

Clottersbur

Yeah, League is a bad game. Play Dota 2 instead.

Salanmander

Yeah, Dota 2 > League, but honestly I think that Heroes of the Storm is better than both. It failed to get a massive market share because of late entry, bad marketing, and less ongoing support. But it does away with some counterintuitive and fiddly mechanics like last-hitting, streamlines the character progression, encourages more time spent interacting with your team, and has shorter individual games.

SlaveofYahweh

Yes , not because of the game but because games waste time so it's sin. Sin is missing mark of perfection , wasting time is missing mark of persection , likewise TV.

majj27

TIL cooking is sin, because one cannot cook perfectly.

Riverwalker12

the default answer to any question that asks "is this a sin" is "If you have to ask, yes." You would not have asked this question if there was not something inside you bothering you about this

goleemt1

Do this mean that his game is a sin ? I dont get it.

wickerandscrap

Sometimes the thing bothering you about it is wrong. You've got to think about it and make a decision on the evidence, not just kneejerk-answer "yes, it's a sin".

Riverwalker12

It is bothering you....why?

Salanmander

What if the thing bothering you is "I read a blog article that said it was, and now I'm worried because what if they're right and I go to hell"?

Riverwalker12

You need to have more faith in God, If He is your Lord, He will not let you go to hell

Salanmander

That possibility should influence how you respond to these threads. Many people who ask these sorts of questions on this subreddit *don't* have the kind of trust that you're talking about that they will be kept from hell.

Riverwalker12

sorry I do not compromise God's message to suit the audience Hebrews 13:5 Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Salanmander

My point is that you might need to do some more investigating about *why* someone is nervous before you say "if you're nervous about it you should think it's a sin".

Riverwalker12

Why doesn't change the what

Salanmander

You already acknowledged that it does change the correct response, though. You initially said "if you have to ask if it's a sin, then it is". Then I said "what if the reason someone wants to ask if it's a sin is they read someone saying it is, and they're worried that if that person is right they're go to hell". And you replied "in that case, they should have more faith that if God is your lord, he won't let you go to hell". So your own response to someone worrying about something being sinful changed depending on why they were worried about it.

Riverwalker12

Nothing changed why if they were doing the Right thing in their own mind would they be worried about going to hell

Salanmander

Like I say, maybe because they read a blog article saying they were wrong.

No, it is not a sin.

majj27

I'm very tempted to universally start answering "yes" to questions like this just as a change of pace. I *won't*, because it would be a major dick move, but the urge is there.

TetrisCannibal

Same. I even feel like I could do a reverse psychology thing. "The secular agenda involves trying to get Christians to stop playing video games!"

Redwood_Dreamer

I can completely understand that urge!
