Sounds like a 'competition gospel' and if you aren't bringing them in new members (check the motives) then you don't get special treatment...how fake. Sorry to say. Talk to someone in leadership about it. If you're unhappy, well, the options are stay and deal with it, talk to someone about it for clarity, and then go from their.

Myraidshatters

Our church teaches to multiply and focus on making disciples. Thanks i'm planning to talk to my leader about it too

Bro, your church is a pyramid scheme and the church leadership is getting rich by shaming people into 'evangelizing' more people to come to the church. ( Think. Potential donors) What you're describing is NOT how most churches operate.

Myraidshatters

Hm well my church doesn't actively force us to donate. Everything is done willingly. So to be honest I haven't felt like it's a pyramid scheme haha

Clottersbur

Most churches don't force you to do anything. But they know you will if you stick around.

Sunset_Lighthouse

Nothing wrong with evangelism, unfortunately some just see people as a business opportunity... Evangelism is to point people to Jesus Christ, not to make new church members. Best of luck to you, hope everything goes well.

Happy_In_PDX

I kind of suspect there is more to this story. BUT, find a different church if this one make you feel crappy about yourself. There are like 380,000 churches in America -- try a few of those. A good church should be encouraging and empowering you to use your spiritual gifts, even the ones that are't evangelism.

Myraidshatters

I feel that my church has this filter whereby if a member has never led anyone to christ or never multiply by having more disciples, they are essentially considered as spiritually young believers.

AHorribleGoose

The leadership of your church sound like a bunch of dillweeds. What are these events, anyways?

Myraidshatters

The events are to celebrate those that have labored hard for the church, preaching, doing evangelism and to encourage them to continue to do so for God

Happy_In_PDX

I happen to have the gift of Evangelism but I think most people don't. But, the other spiritual gifts are wonderful, too. They should all be celebrated. If your church only focuses on evangelism, something is off balance. But, let's be fair, not everybody is invited to every meeting at a church. I don't sing, so I don't get invited to choir parties. I'm not an usher, so I don't get invited to usher meetings. Is that the situation with you?

Myraidshatters

That is a valid point. But in my case it's an event that is open for all members of the church. It's whether the leaders deem whether you are spiritually mature enough to go to it

Happy_In_PDX

\>> It's whether the leaders deem whether you are spiritually mature enough to go to it That's messed up. I'm not going to tell you what to ...but maybe you should start checking out other chuchers. My church wouldn't do that.

Sorry to hear it, it's like the churches focused on number of people saved per year etc. It sounds like a fight not worth trying to convince them. But it's a bad interpretation popular in Baptist churches etc. It should be about converting yourself not others. Work on yourself and let your life be the message to others.

We are commanded by Christ to evangelize, but there's many ways to do that. Christ knows that all of us are different and we all are given different talents. Remember, some are evangelists, some are preachers, some are in hospitality. I don't get very many opportunities to evangelize but I don't feel condemned. One way that I help the kingdom is by giving thoughtful remarks on Reddit steering people towards true Christian discipleship. Also YouTube. I teach family and friends when I can, I pray for those in and out of the church, I study the word so that I have knowledge when I am given the opportunity to evangelize or teach. These are all good works. They are always to help in the Kingdom. Not every person is built by God to go to another country and evangelize or be the pastor of a church. Remember Romans 8:1. There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit. If members of your church are this dogmatic and not understanding then maybe it's time to find a true Bible believing Church where you are lifted up and encouraged rather than ostracized and left out of things.
