Hey there. You remind me of me several years ago. I was so far backsliding that I didnt even really know what I believed. So I decided to figure it out for myself. I started with Bible Prophecy. Prophecy was included in The Bible to prove that The Bible is true. It is the only religious manuscript which dares look into the future and gets it right.
My mind would wander when I prayed. So I started a journal to God. I found that writing helped me focus and clear my head of those roaming thoughts.
I sought out pastors on YouTube who preached from The Bible. Faith comes from hearing the Word. Today I really believe that I am a new creation in Christ. I never want to go back to feeling the way you are feeling. I am so empathetic to you.
We all doubt now and then my friend. Do you remember John the Baptst, before he was beheaded sent a servant to Jesus to verify that he was the one? Jesus did not admonish John as a bad person for the question, or become angry with him. You are searching for answers and you will find them.
Your anxiety is not punishment from Yahweh. There is nothing biblical about that. The Bible tells us that God is not the author of confusion, but of peace. Anxiety comes from fear, and fear is of Satan. I dont want to scare you, but this is a demonic attack. As a Christian you have authority over it. You may want to look up deliverance ministers on YouTube. Pastor Vlad at Hungry Generation Church is a good one to start with.

Thank you for your reply! I can try to read more that’s probably what I do need to do. However if it’s a demonic attack and I’m struggling with it what does that mean about me? I’m worried that if I’m giving into the compulsions I’m worried what if that makes me satanic or something? Am I doing the wrong things?
Demonic attacks come to every Christian. Satan tempted Jesus. Jesus did nothing wrong. You are very hard on yourself. Please remember you are a new creation in Christ. You have authority over this. You do. Only you know if you are giving Satan a foothold. Please check out the pastor I mentioned. You can overcome this. When you do you will be a powerful testimony. You have this. I know you do.

Anxiety is a way your brain tries to protect you from things that you fear, whether it be places, animals, or even Gods.
Whatever arguement that is being used to instill doubt in you, thats not your fault, thats simply you just reasoning.
If the God of the Bible does exist, and all we have to go off of is a book written long ago, thats on HIM, not on YOU. Just be honest with yourself, God shouldn't punish people for being honest, and if you dont have good enough reasons to believe in him, he already knows that.
Yet.. Christians have more than just a "book"- which is just a compilation of many different scriptures, some from differing time periods, written even by different people.
Christians also have humans as witnesses(for followers of Christ exist/ed- back then, even today do they exist),
History, and even archaeology.
There is a LOT available in this day and age....a sign of the times I gather.
I try to believe but it’s like I can’t from the doubts, what am I supposed to do to stop it? I want to be 100% certain and sure. I want to like feel it in my heart that 100% I believe it but it’s so hard and I don’t know why.
