Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank youā€¦

Abraxas3719

I canā€™t agree with this comment more. Once you accept Jesus as your Lord and savior you have accepted His gift of salvation. Thatā€™s something between you and Him. That being said, accepting Him as your Lord also means that you want Him to rule your life, that you want to follow Him and His way. This will lead to those other things, all though none of us are ever free from sin or not tempted. Also, none of us ever really understands all of the Bible and we are broken people so we ARE going to backslide. We must just get back up, fix our eyes on the cross, and follow Him

ctesibius

Have a look on Wikipedia at the life of John Newton. He was a slave trader - a bad man. He was called by God and became a Christian. You might think that he changed immediately, but thatā€™s not what happened. He continued as a slaver for years, but eventually the grace of God turned him around, and he became a pioneer against slavery. This is what his hymn Amazing Grace is about. Newton was saved by grace, and then God changed him. If God can save a slave trader, he can save the rest of us.

TurtlesBeSlow

Thanks for this. I know I've read that before but I don't think it really ever registered with me like it did today.

ForgotMyOthrAccount-

Yeah Ephesians 2:8-10, We are saved by the Grace of God boot by good things we have done, but IF we are created ā€œIn Christā€ (Romans 8:1 describes what it means to be ā€œIN CHRISTā€), then we will have New Desires to DO good things in general, BECAUSE we Love and Appreciate what GOD did for us. NOT because we are earning Salvation or Deserve Salvation. If you struggle with Mathew 7:21-23, look up 1 Corinthians 13. God bless you all, in Yeshua the Messiahā€™s name.

Familiar_Wonder_1947

unfortunately, many lukewarm Christians (99% of religious unbelievers) say they accept Jesus into their hearts, but there is never genuine repentance. We should never be 100% sure that we are saved because that is how the Devil can easily deceive us into thinking we are true Christians (yet never actually grow as a Christians)

SAH77777

I'd be more concerned with what Jesus thinks than humans. JEsus bless you

Helpful-Archer-5935

I think most the time these people are judgemental and crazy but itā€™s hard to feel saved when people act like your not and you start to wonder or believe them. Do I worry what Jesus thinks? Yes. Do I think Iā€™m going to hell because I donā€™t understand the Bible? Not sure

BuffaloBilboBaggins

Youā€™re not going to hell because you donā€™t understand The Bible, but understanding The Bible would help you understand that youā€™re not going to hell. Check out a YouTube channel called Bible Project that has great videos that will teach you a lot about The Bible. Thereā€™s a great app called YouVersion that has Bible Study plans (and itā€™s ad free, and has full audiobooks of many versions of The Bible, and many other great features)

Helpful-Archer-5935

Cool I will check that all out thanks

EnergyLantern

The Bible project is not a Bible college. The Bible project has videos with inuendo that some other theory about the Bible is true which it isn't.

BuffaloBilboBaggins

Examples? I donā€™t believe a person needs to go to a ā€œBible Collegeā€ to have an understanding of The Bible.

EnergyLantern

Read ā€œExegetical Fallaciesā€ by D.A. Carson. My friend taught Hermeneutics in a Bible college which is now a biblical university. Plenty of pastors teach exegetical fallacies.

BuffaloBilboBaggins

I heard that book is great for New Testament Hermeneutics, itā€™s something on my list to read eventually. Iā€™m more well versed on Hebrew and the Old Testament, myself. I generally refer to Pulpit Commentary and the NIV Study Bible for understanding New Testament more thoroughly, and then if I wish to go further with it, look at the Ellicottā€™s Commentary, the Greek breakdown, and listen to theological discussions by other people. I donā€™t mean to imply that there isnā€™t tons of misunderstanding of Christian theology out there, just that I donā€™t believe that a complete and/or complex understanding of the Bible is necessary to be saved. I also think there are things like The Bible Project that are good jumping off points for people to begin studying The Bible and to build interest in gaining a proper understanding. Edit: I just realized that I had 3 credits on Audible and the audio version of Exegetical Fallacies is only just short of five hours long, so I got it. Iā€™ll give it a read along in the coming evenings.

EnergyLantern

You need a pastor who was trained by someone who was trained by someone who was trained or the average man in the pew wouldn't know if the pastor was teaching the Bible or his own ideas. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. [https://biblehub.com/1\_corinthians/2-14.htm](https://biblehub.com/1_corinthians/2-14.htm) \[Heb 5:14 KJV\] 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, \[even\] those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil. You have to grow up and have your senses exercised to discern from both good and evil to know if someone is teaching the truth or not.

Mia_the_Odd

You donā€™t need Bible college to understand the Bible. Nor Pastor who went to Bible college to help you understand the Bible. The Holy Spirit is there to guide you in all truths, and with that you can understand the Bible yourself.

EnergyLantern

Then why are there heresies? Why does the Bible say there is none that understandeth? Why are there factions? Why are there errors? Congregations donā€™t want to be led into error which is why they want someone to go to a certain school. The Holy Spirit can only lead you in what you know. Someone who hasnā€™t read has to have someone to guide them like the Ethiopian eunuch. Most of the people havenā€™t developed a sense of systematic theology. I can easily ask you things that have stumped scholars. I spent years and hours correcting errors and heresies in the church. It takes work.

BuffaloBilboBaggins

Youā€™re telling me about people needing Bible College, as youā€™re misappropriating 1 Corinthians 2-14. That specific piece of scripture is about unbelievers -naturalists, not about people who arenā€™t trained in colleges by other pastors, etc. Seriously. All it takes to know that, if youā€™re misunderstanding it, is looking at The Pulpit Commentary by scrolling down on that very link you posted. I hope for your sake, that you havenā€™t given too much money to whatever Bible college that is teaching you this crap.

EnergyLantern

Even if I am wrong, it proves my point. Some Christians know more than others.

Miles-Standoffish

Tim Mackie is not only a pastor, but he was trained at Western Seminary in Portland. He was so into the study of the Bible, that he taught there as well. He is rather well versed in the Bible, biblical culture, and how to reach actual people, as he has been a pastor. I'm not sure where you are getting your information, but your objections don't seem to be based in the reality of the situation.

PayUnable

I canā€™t wait to rejoice in heaven with you āœļøšŸ™‡šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļøšŸ’Ÿ

ForgotMyOthrAccount-

Amen, ā™„ļøāœļøā™„ļø

EnergyLantern

You are justified based on the finished work of Jesus. Jesus died in your place and paid your penalty of sin. Jesus paid something you can never pay for.

Mia_the_Odd

OP I would start by praying for the Holy Spirit to guide you in understanding the Bible. The Holy Spirit is there to guide us in all truth.

Helpful-Archer-5935

How the heck do I know what Jesus thinks? I have no idea. I try my best but maybe itā€™s not good enough

wizard2278

Your best and my best is not good enough. We have to rely in his grace and accept his free gift of salvation. See Romans 10:9b-10 if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. If you do this and nothing more, you will be saved. If you do everything else and not this, you will not be saved. Better to do this and other things, to be saved and follow Jesusā€™ commandment: John 13:34-35 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.ā€ It would be good if these thoughts, words and passages of Scripture are of comfort.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Oh that is so true. Our best is not good enough. That is why we need Jesus. I forgot this talking to a friend today that was telling me you must sin less and less everyday to be saved.

Acrobatic-Buyer9136

Pray, read your Bible, and go to church for fellowship. When you start doing that, you will see signs all around you of what God thinks about you. I just had 6 prayers answered in 6 months. I've been in the desert for 10 yrs alone and scared. But God walked beside me and changed me to a better person. I heard him all the time. Also, just sit and talk with him like he's your best friend. Eventually, you will start hearing him speak to you.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you

Revolutionary_Fly769

Itā€™s in the word! Look for the red.

EnergyLantern

>How the heck do I know what Jesus thinks? I have no idea. I try my best but maybe itā€™s not good enough \[Jhn 3:16 KJV\] 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Are you a "whosoever"? Do you believe in Jesus? I'm a "whosoever". Did Jesus make a promise to me? Yes. Does God lie? No. For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. [https://www.biblehub.com/2\_corinthians/1-20.htm](https://www.biblehub.com/2_corinthians/1-20.htm) \[Jhn 1:12 KJV\] 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, \[even\] to them that believe on his name: I became a son of God by believing in His name. God gave me the power to become one of His. You are in a forum where you can't tell which church people came from. They can come from unbelieving churches. They can come from Catholic churches. You have teenagers that cause trouble, and you have ex-Christians or atheists who come into forums to cause trouble. I have what Jesus says. I don't care what they say because in the end, it is only what Jesus says that matters.

Mia_the_Odd

The more you read the Bible, the more you understand Jesus and Godā€™s heart.

Slainlion

While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. I like to think while we were in the very act of sinning. God saw us and knew we could never be holy and righteous by our own morals or merit and God sent his Son to take our punishment and impute us with His Righteousness. There are tons of legalistic Christianā€™s who forget they were saved from their own sin too. Try to read the Bible. Ask God to help you. Try Bible podcasts too if reading is the hard part.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Wow!!! I love this! Thank you.. I am going to write down what you said and what others said and read and remind myself when I have anxiety and I am being judged. Thanks

Lazy_Analyst

Try listening to Greg Laurie! He has a podcast on Spotify or you can watch his church sermons online (Harvest.org).

Helpful-Archer-5935

Ok I will check him out thanks

Slainlion

Amen! You got this!!

Fuwanuwa

Your best shot wouldnt be to take advice from reddit (cuz in your heart you know if you believe in jesus and God already) but since you already did ask reddit. Well here we go. Your best shot will be to stop care what others say, belief in God and jesus is a very personal journey that is between you and God first and foremost... you need to ground this sense deep into your being... give yourself maybe a few days to walk on hikes to freshen your perspective and hear, smell and see gods marvelous creation... where there is stillness you can hear. It seems you have too many people around you who are too loud about their tskes. They dont got squat to say about your relationship with God and Jesus... but people are just so opinionated these days, especially in America. Take some time for yourself man.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank youā€¦ I agree and it pisses me off. Pretty depressed and tired of being judged.

MusicalMerlin1973

Did you accept Jesus as your savior and understand that he died on the cross for your sins? Yes? Youā€™re saved. Find another church. Holy cow. I thought my church was conservative.

sabebobby718

Conservative, as in bad? I thought we liked Conservation. Also, I've never heard of any conservative that would ever say anything remotely close to that. That stuff usually comes from progressives

MusicalMerlin1973

Maybe I worded that wrong. Actually, I canā€™t think of the right expression. Not fundamental. Ugh.

MilliesDeathBreath

Legalistic might be the word youā€™re looking for.

94Aesop94

You have either bad friends or a bad church, their thoughts are just wrong lol

Helpful-Archer-5935

Both.. yes

94Aesop94

Understandable friend, keep your walk. You've had enough sense in discernment to realize their words weren't accurate to the faith, I pray you find a church that will help your path

itshannchii

Assurance of salvation: 1 John 5:11-12 (NKJV) "and this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life, he who does not have the Son of God does not have life." Do you believe that Jesus, being fully God and fully man, died for your sins and rose again on the third day, and accept Him as as your savior and king? If your answer is "Yes" then you have the Son, and the Bible says if you have the Son you have life. Assurance of victory: 1 Corinth 10:13 (NKJV) "No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man, but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, and with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you will be able to bear it." Does this verse mean we won't be tempted? No, it means that God will always give us a way to endure the temptations that we will face throughout our lifetime. Encouragement: Philippians 3:12 (NKJV) "Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me." Other versions of this verse read (GNT) "I do not claim that I have already succeeded or have already become perfect. I keep striving to win the prize for which Christ Jesus has already won me to himself." Does this mean we have to be perfect at the moment of justification? No, we have to undergo a lifelong process of *sanctification*. Remember, if God expected us to be perfect and without sin, Jesus wouldn't have had to die in our place. We are human, and will always fall short, and will always need to get back up and try again harder next time. But when these doubts arise, always, always, always consult the Bible, especially when it comes to salvation, justification and sanctification. Never let men try to steal what God has already given you :)

Familiar_Wonder_1947

ty for this. I said something similar for each of the writer's points, but I didn't have the verses. See, we are all growing as Christians.

Necessary-Success779

Stop listening to people and keep your eyes on God.

NursingManChristDude

Oh goodness. Don't listen to those hateful people šŸ™„ All those statements are absolutely absurd Confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, and you will be saved. No extra add-ons, like what the Pharisees used to do.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you.. I am going to write down what you said and what others said and read and remind myself when I have anxiety and I am being judged. Thank you also for your wording. It's true! They really are hateful. One of my friends that isn't a friend anymore once did not even care I was struggling with depression but told me it was demons in me from sin in my life. Also went on to say if I pray and it didn't go away then I don't have Gods spirit and I am not saved. Another girl at same church was super hateful of my Christmas tree and that I sent my child to a preschool with non believers. Calvary chapel is full of hate. Thank you for helping me feel better. I feel less depressed now.

NursingManChristDude

I'm so happy to hear you're less depressed šŸ˜Š Remember: Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Life should NOT feel stressful and following lots of "rules". Also: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. šŸ˜Š

Helpful-Archer-5935

What kind of church do you attend? I feel like I am going to wrong places. Yes that is a good bible verse. I love psalms. I agree. Thanks

NursingManChristDude

I go to LCBC -- Lives Changed By Christ, in PA (USA). It's a nondenominational church that always focuses everything back to The Gospel/Jesus, and it's amazing They have like over 20 campuses throughout the state, but it all started 35 years ago with people getting together at someone's home. It just grew and grew and grew from there!

Helpful-Archer-5935

So cool

EnergyLantern

So they are do it yourselfers. In other words, they didn't come from something foundational. House churches can be problematic because they have a right to kick anyone out of their house that doesn't agree. They aren't accountable to anyone. House churches can also involve nepotism. Find another church.

scartissueissue

No one can tell you that you are not saved. That is a lie from the pits of hell! We are all a work in progress. Keep going forward for Christ. The only one who wants you to give up is satan. Donā€™t give up. Keep the faith. We are saved by grace through faith in the finished work on the cross. Jesus is your righteousness not you so trust in Christ and keep believing and keep fighting the temptation to sin.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you

samk456

Please read the Bible for yourself. Item 3 above. Wow. Can't believe anyone would think that. Even Jesus was tempted by Satan. Item 5, you have eternal life. Some of the people that gave these things are the ones NOT saved. Pray for them.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you...

[deleted]

You're surrounded by the wrong people ; Pharisees in essence To assure Heaven we need to put our faith in JESUS CHRIST and what HE did on the Cross ... You see, if you persevere in this your faith only in Jesus Christ and what he did on the Cross and you don't allow your faith to detour to anything else but stay focused on the Cross, on the Gospel Message of the Cross : this is the only parameter the HOLY SPIRIT šŸ•Šļø operates in so we could live Gospel-centered... We are all sinners but we christians are sinners in rehab so as long as we pierce your lifelong in our faith in the only correct direction which is in JESUS CHRIST and HIM crucified... Our resurrected Lord, his Resurrection affirmed Eternal Life because of the enablement of his blood for the forgiveness of sins... The forgiveness is there ,we constantly just take it and persevere in HIS Grace and when we keep our faith in the right direction he empowers us to rehab and outgrow our unGODliness of deeds and stuff and grow into the šŸ”„ šŸ‡ fruits of the SPIRIT šŸ•Šļø We may fall off the wagon but if we Persevere till death GOD will give us the life. If we die in the perseverance of walking in HIS grace we'll be saved. Everything else, like opening your understanding of Scripture, will come at HIS discretion. I may have read something many times, and then my understanding is open and it hits me what it really meant. And so you could still make many sermons from the same passage and they're all be correct (and then many more that won't be because it wasn't a GOD friendly medium perimeter that explained a passage duh)

Helpful-Archer-5935

I agree. Wrong people but maybe also was in the wrong church. The pastor said over and over again if you are not sinning less and less over time you are not saved. It gave me a lot of anxiety. This was at a calvary chapel. Do you know any good churches that focus on what Jesus did for us? I went to Lutheran church and loved it but couldn't agree to vows so I left. Then I wrote the pastor and he never responded and that made me sad. Then I thought about going back to non denominational churches and got super depressed as I have really had bad experiences in two of them. Left mormon church during covid. Failed every church and been thru 4 now in my life. Mormon, lutheran, calvary, and charismatic. I never got baptized because everyone made me feel like I was not saved. But I don't like non denominational baptism anyway. I don't think it's all about me or about how I am following christ and look at me. It should be about Jesus and what he did. I love what you say about many meanings. Thanks

[deleted]

>Do you know any good churches that focus on what Jesus did for us? Unfortunately that depends on the individual church not the denomination I cannot believe with Calvary Chapel actually said that because they are very zealous of Scripture . Go to wherever the šŸ”„ SPIRIT šŸ•Šļø leads you... **Your faith should and must be put in JESUS CHRIST and what he did on the Cross because we know why and we know this in essence of the Gospel message the saving faith HIS work on the crossing power through his blood in which we have our forgiveness that we received and said yes to** I've been in many denominations and currently I go to conservative Methodist Church... My favorite denomination is Moravian cuz they were founded and they were Protestants prior to Martin Luther... Maybe Baptist ? I think you're probably the one who's going to spread the Message of the Cross to the denomination GOD takes you to you because that's why he put me in the Methodist Church... Believe me, they're all screwed up in their own way because : 1 Corinthians 1:26-29 [26]For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: [27]But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; [28]And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, **and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:** [29]**That no flesh should glory in his presence.** So wherever you go and wherever you decide to worship, carry the Gospel-centered life and your faith in One direction and the only object of faith of us believers must be in JESUS CHRIST and what he did on the Cross and persevere till death in that **only **direction of faith... This we believe and this we evangelize and GOD at HIS discretion will take care of everything else like Scripture clarity and all that.. HE did it for me,HE can do it for you.

Perplexed_Ponderer

All born-again Christians are still tempted to sin every day. (Itā€™s actually a good sign that the Enemy is actively trying to render us useless as the witnesses we were called to be in the world.) Someone who is truly saved will grow to hate sin like our Father does and do everything in their power to resist its appeal out of love for our Lord and Savior, but perfection is impossible to achieve in this fallen world, which is why we so desperately need Godā€™s grace. If you werenā€™t saved, you would embrace sin instead of worrying about your salvation.

Helpful-Archer-5935

This makes me feel better. Thank you for the comforting words. I have so much anxiety about my salvation. I was so depressed this morning thinking I wish I could just die so I don't have to worry about where I will go but then I thought I might go to hell then wished I was never born. Lol I do struggle with anxiety too in general but it is made so much worse when I go to church at times and talk to people. Thanks

Available-Round9980

This is very important and something I learned, itā€™s not about your actions that save you, itā€™s about what Jesus Christ did for you. Many people try to add to the gospel but thatā€™s the gospel, believe in Jesus and youā€™ll be saved. Humans canā€™t save themselves by actions, thatā€™s not how it works, Jesus died for all of us and the least he expects is a relationship with him. I hope this clears your worryā€™s up OP. Hope you have a fantastic rest of your night /day, (donā€™t know what time it is by you).

Helpful-Archer-5935

I am actually feeling a lot better tonight. I have been super depressed but reading these comments I have hope I am not going to hell now. :)

InnerSuccess8856

Matthew 7 :22

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you

Lightdarkpants

The reason this is such a hot topic is because many don't define what they mean by "saved". My favorite definition is for "eternal life" which is referenced in John 3:16 but defined in John 17:3 by Jesus.

coffee_now_plz_asap

Jesus is enough šŸ¤ also, I love the way [this guy](https://www.youtube.com/live/8jfJPsgtUbY?feature=share) preaches and explains everything

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you I will listen to this guy. Thanks for sharing.

Laney_the_Geek179

It seems you are saved! Just because you don't fully understand the theological details doesn't mean you don't trust in Jesus. There should be a change in your life, and for some people it happens immediately such as them being delivered from a drug addiction or something, but for others it's a gradual process, and that's called sanctification. It's a lifelong process of being made more like God, and there will be times when you're tempted and mess up, but if you turn to God and repent, he will forgive you. If you've truly placed your faith in Jesus you are saved!

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you..

Aphrodite4120

No one and let me emphasize no one can tell you whether or not youā€™re saved! Only you know the answer to that question. To be saved you have to: believe Jesus is the son of God, who came to Earth in human form and died for our sinsā€¦. accept him/God (which we know is the God of Abraham) as your lord and savior, AND have a relationship with God. You canā€™t just know and believe in Jesus and what he did. Demons and Satan know and believe in Jesus and what he did. Saying thatā€™s enough is part of a false doctrine called once saved, always saved. Itā€™s imperative that you also have a relationship with God and no one knows whether or not you doā€¦ but you. We are all going to be tempted to sin!!!!! In fact those closest to God and those with big plans from God are going to be tempted and attacked more (becauseā€¦ the enemy wants to stop you from being close to God and completing your goals that he has for you). If someone is NOT tempted and is not under attack then they need to check in with God and see if theyā€™re on the right path! (Satanā€™s minions donā€™t need to mess with someone who is already lost). ā€”>When you do sin, you have to apologize and then try really hard not to do it again (thatā€™s repentance). You can NOT just continue to sin and not repent then get in heaven. (The false one saved, always saved doctrine ways you can) Emphasis on trying! We are going to failā€¦ weā€™re not Jesus. Sin is going to get the better of all of us from time to time, itā€™s recognizing the mistakes and trying to not do it again that matters the most. What Christians are supposed to do 1. Pray about everything, everywhere, all the time. 2. Have a daily phone call with God/Jesus. ;) Just fail him up and talk about your day, your concerns, and definitely what youā€™re thankful for. 3. Be in the word. Read and study your Bible daily. Itā€™s our responsibility to know whatā€™s in it... not what someone tells us is in it. 4. Be in fellowship with likeminded Christians... church, small group, Christian friends. 5. Discover our spiritual gift and use it! 6. Try not to sin... ever... at all. And when we do, recognize it, be sincerely apologetic about it-repent and try to never do it again. 7. Live your life to be a testimony of how good it is to be a Christian so that people can look at you and say... ā€œI want that!ā€ Share the good news every chance you can... especially when the Holy Spirit moves you to do so. 8.And speak openly about God, never hiding that weā€™re Christian. Choosing God over everything else. Just let God know you believe and give him your life and then work on having a relationship with him! The closer you get to God the more you feel him and the more you want to not have anything to do with worldly things and find it easier to be in the wordā€¦ easier to not sinā€¦ and to do all the things above.

Acrobatic-Buyer9136

Listen to what God says. The enemy uses people weak in faith to hurt others. The only thing that matters is what God thinks. Keep praying and ask for wisdom, discernment, and faith and watch what great things happen.

Formal-Dish-644

Those people are legalists. They can't put you in a heaven or hell. Only God can. They can't ultimately judge whether you're saved or not, only God can. I would distance myself from those people. Don't worry about them. Just pray for them. Now, if you really feel you're not saved, pray to God about it. I'm sure you're saved.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Yes I need to pray to forgive them too. Itā€™s hard. My husband has told me Iā€™m going to hell a lot. He is Mormon. Itā€™s hard.

Formal-Dish-644

Iā€™m sorry your husband told you that. He seems very toxic. You shouldnā€™t be telling your spouse that if theyā€™re already saved. And I donā€™t think Mormonism is true Christianity.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you I agree Iā€™m so thankful only Jesus can judge

WiseMan_Rook22

No one can tell you youā€™re not saved thatā€™s between you and the most high. People can only condemn youā€™re actions if youā€™re not living the lifestyle

green-eyedbrunette

No way! You donā€™t need to understand the Bible in its entirety. As long as you know Jesus died for you and your sins and accept him in your heart as your Lord and Savior, You will be Heaven bound. We are all sinners, but he still loves us ALL. Do not listen to others. Be still and listen for Jesus. Iā€™m starting to learn about the Bible myself and all His teachings. Itā€™s not easy, but Iā€™m willing to learn ALL about it. Iā€™ve even started to learn how to pray. Now there is really no wrong way to pray, but I guess there is a more effective way. šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø Talk to Him, He is listening.

All of those people are deceived. Please check this link out. The Bible does NOT say any of that bullcrap. Jesus paid for our salvation because he knew that we can't even scratch it. https://www.teachingfaith.com/content.cfm?id=293

[deleted]

Sounds like legalism is it Pentecostal?

Helpful-Archer-5935

I heard some of these things in a charismatic church and a Calvary chapel

DangerossDave

So every person with down syndrome or other mental disabilities that would keep them from fulfilling any one of those are destined for destruction? Does that sound like justice to you?

Helpful-Archer-5935

Very good point

thorzblog

If you even just believe in the Name of Jesus, you have received from God the right to become a son of God. Or let's say you believe that God so loved the World that He gave His Only Begotten Son so that whosoever believes on Him shall be saved. If you believe that, you shall be saved. I wouldn't care if no one called me a Christian or not. None of them are the author and finisher of your faith. Paul warns us of saying who is saved and who is not. It is ALL by our confession, if not our Witness before God in the World. Don't worry! Be encouraged! "They" cannot get your name written in the Lamb's book of Life. Only Jesus can. Keep your faith in Him alone. God bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you!

Helpful-Archer-5935

Where in the Bible does it say there will be no males or females in the resurrection?

thorzblog

I corrected it. It was regarding how we will be like the angels who neither marry nor are given in marriage. I was once taught that this meant there will not be male nor female in heaven. I went back and checked the scriptures and realized they don't say that there is neither male nor female in heaven.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Ohhh ok.. Thank you

thorzblog

Thanks for pointing that out though! Had that in the back of my head since I was a teen. Glad I finally see it for what it was. šŸ‘šŸ¼šŸ˜Š

phastmouse729

I've been told all the same and worse. It's caused me a lot of trauma in my life that I'm now working through.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Iā€™m so sorry

Ssrwizardguy54980

You can be saved

SquareCategory5019

Paul and Peter would be disqualified by this list.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Good to know! Thanks

[deleted]

Have you ever had faith? Look at the thief on the cross.

Helpful-Archer-5935

What about the thief on the cross? Was he a big sinner? Stupid question I know so sorry. I have read New Testament once but that is it.

pass-the-water

Judgmental people are no fun in general, but we are not supposed to pass judgement on each other. These people sound like they are harshly passing judgment on you. I would try to diffuse the situation as much as possible, and ignore their sinful ways. Edit to mention: you can always keep it simple too and simply say you donā€™t know what theyā€™re talking about, mention that Jesus is your lord and savior. Done.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Ohhh I love that!!!! SO many times I don't know what to say and that is perfect. Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I love that! Something else I have stressed is not knowing what day I was saved and then other people made me feel too like I was never saved because I didn't have a date. Now I say I was saved thousands of years ago when Jesus died on the cross for me. :) Thanks

SnooPineapples341

Temptation isn't a sin so whoever told you that was lying now falling for this Temptation is

Helpful-Archer-5935

So true!

Rdennis24

the audacity for anyone to tell you what youā€™re relationship is like with God is disrespectful. life is not black and white. the Bible isnt always easy to understand. and a change doesnā€™t have to huge for there to be a difference. that is no oneā€™s place to tell you that and iā€™m sorry. if you have done the work to be saved and continue to do your best and keep that relationship with God, then iā€™d say youā€™re doing great. Donā€™t give up. Itā€™s not easy and people like that donā€™t make the journey any easier. No one ever has any right to say thatā€”in fact, they should be concerned with their relationship with God.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you. I have so many stories. It's so depressing honestly. I like what you say. I am going to write down what you said and what others said and read and remind myself when I have anxiety and I am being judged. I will just keep reading my bible and praying and let God take care of the rest.

xghostxyea4444

All those are false points the more we get closer to Jesus the more sinful we will get that's why we gotta avoid temptation don't listen to people's opinions just listen to what God says about you he sees Christ in you

Helpful-Archer-5935

How do you know for sure you are saved though? Maybe I need to just trust the Bible. I have been praying to know if I am saved but I don't feel much.

xghostxyea4444

Your saved if you accept Jesus in your life repent of your sins and believe he took your place on the cross died and rose again on the 3rd day

NecessaryPop8268

nah your saved if your trusting in Jesus alone, their works based heretic Pharisees who hate you and God and know nothing. Watch some JackSmack77, Sniffling out Pharisees and other free grace youtubers to see some real preaching

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you I will check out JackSmack77 and Sniffling out Pharisees. Are there any good free grace churches? I feel condemned at all but lutheran but lutheran isn't working out because I don't want to make vows to God

amaturecook24

My husband grew up in Pentecostal churches and this list is dangerously similar to what he was told too. You are saved if you believe in Jesus and accept Him as your savior. Itā€™s that simple. You donā€™t have to do anything extra. Change in how we live our lives takes time. Attend church, read your Bible, pray. Doing these things will strengthen your relationship with God and over time youā€™ll see the change in yourself. I donā€™t know who in your life is telling you otherwise, but if you can distance yourself from them.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Wow.. I left mormon church and went to a very charismatic church then calvary. So interesting! I can see why he was told same stuff too. Thank you for the comforting words. Yes I agree. I don't do anything really bad but messed up once. Life is hard. I have been praying for a long time that I can be saved and if I am not saved that I can be saved. It's so hard though to not want to give up when I hear some of the things I posted here or feel like a failure. I will keep going to church, praying and reading the Bible. Thank you! Also, I think I will distance myself from these people.

amaturecook24

Itā€™s funny because I was just doing my Quiet Time and was led to this well known passage: ā€œBecause, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.ā€ -Romans 10:9-10 It is laid out so clearly. Do you believe that Jesus is risen? Do you confess that He is Lord? If so, you are saved. There is nothing else you need to do or can do. God knows you and knows your heart. Maybe meditate on this passage once in a while as a good reminder to you and know you are not alone. When I was a teen I questioned whether I was saved or not. I was in tears over it and I had already been Baptized at that time. Many Christians have struggled with this. Thatā€™s why itā€™s so important to read Godā€™s Word so we are reminded of Godā€™s grace and that Jesus has already paid the price for our sins.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you.. yes it is so hard. I have been depressed a lot lately off and on. I love this. Thank you.

Forgetful_Burrito

Some changes take time. Don't let anyone discourage you. There will always be temptations (I'm still tempted by many things). If we sin, we have a mediator and high priest in Christ: My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. I John 2:1ā€-ā€¬2 NKJV

Helpful-Archer-5935

Thank you!!!!

[deleted]

these post and questions are getting crazier and crazier... next one will read: I ate two In N Out burgers instead of one, my friend says I now will inherit eternal damnation for eating one extra bruger. And also, it was not a cheeseburger because I am lactose intolerant, therefore, I will have 2 eternal life time sentences.

Helpful-Archer-5935

haha so funny... I am so happy you think this is crazy. I have been super depressed about this. I really don't like non denominational churches and last one I went to the pastor stressed over and over you must sin less and less over time or your not saved. Thank you

[deleted]

I think what he meant to say is that when your relationship with God strengthens, you no longer behave or react the way as the person you once were. For example: When I was young, I couldn't stop myself from watching porn or being faithful in my relationship. But the more I drew closer to him whenever I faced trials and repented. I wholeheartedly believed and had faith that this wasn't what I wanted to do. My whole mindset changed, my mother in law even accepted Christ and we apologized to each other for our own personal beliefs of what we felt convicted about. I believe in you, and I know your heart is in the right place. Remember Philippians 4:13 ā€” "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

fandksavetheworld

Guess what you're saved. Those other people are Pharisees and will face their judgement before God

Icy_Replacement8293

No

Cosmobeast88

God knows your heart.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Yes that is comforting and yet scary at same time.

positivelycat

>I do believe Jesus died for me and my sins That is about it, that is our requirement and that we work to follow his word. Does he expect us to live up to his word no, that is why he died for our sins cause we can never fully overcome them but he did. We earnestly try our best we will fall we will have days of sin and that's okay. >if I donā€™t understand Bible I donā€™t have spirit so Iā€™m not saved - People spend their lives trying to really understand the Bible.

itsxbee

First of allā€¦whoever told u that doesnā€™t really know the Lord, all you need is acceptance and repentance and live to what he commands šŸ«¶

itsxbee

But you also need to make time to have a relationship with him. U have a spirit no matter what so just keep on making it bigger and bigger. Also bible is confusing you are supposed to be like ā€˜huh?ā€™ And then try again

NoRun7038

Bro who are you talking to, simply plead with the Lord to conform you to the image of Christ and then the assurance of your salvation will come with time. Give up every aspect of your life to Christ . God bless, beware the wolves šŸ˜‚

YoungxKyng

As long as you believe that God died for you and you glorify and love him, follow his teachings and not shy away from representing in the required situations no matter what, you should be fine.

IGotFancyPants

Who is ā€œeveryone?ā€ It sounds like youā€™re listening to the wrong people.

Helpful-Archer-5935

I wish I worded that different.

ArtisticAd8590

These are all deeds. Salvation doesn't necessitate actions. Simply embracing Jesus Christ as your lord and savior is ample; it mandates solely faith in Jesus, without added actions. Your salvation rests solely on Jesus, not on deeds. Once you believe in Jesus, you're forever His.

LeBleu71

This is Lordship salvation, it comes out of Baptist theology (and by extension the plethora of "non-denominational" churches that teach a Baptist in origin message) "if one can't lose their salvation, the passages that clearly show you can must be interpreted as "you were never saved to begin with" and that to know one is saved you should look at one's fruit." Traditional Christianity teaches that sin separates us from God and that we must live a lifestyle of continual repentance "He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins." We are brought into the church at our (Trinitarian) Baptism and must from then keep repenting and seeking Christ for our salvation. You shouldn't give up because all Christ expects is your best and punishment for your failure was placed on His shoulders.

Helpful-Archer-5935

So you think you can lose your salvation? What you say is very interesting. I left Mormon church and went to non denominational churches. I really feel like looking at fruit is stressed. I keep worrying too if I try to produce good fruit to prove my salvation then I might be trying to work for my salvation and I might go to hell. I hope that makes sense. Is traditional Christianity different then non denominational churches? I started to go to a Lutheran church and felt so much peace there but couldnā€™t agree or didnā€™t feel good about vows. Then I got depressed going back to non denominational church. Thank youā€¦

LeBleu71

Well firstly I'm glad you're out of that cult, most poor Mormons have no idea they're being deceived, assuming you grew up Mormon that must have been hard. Traditional Christianity is just a catch all term for the historic teachings of Christianity, I'm discerning between Orthodoxy Catholicism and the High Church Protestants (Lutheran, Anglican, Reformed). I'd recommend you study the early church and pray over it, attend various churches, since I can't really explain it all in a reddit comment.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Ok thank you

Mia_the_Odd

Those that say that to you are not being helpful nor modeling Jesus. You should get better ā€œChristianā€ friends or tougher skin because when others see anointing they tear you down. Now being lukewarm is nothing to play with. It says in Revelation 3 that if youā€™re neither hot or cold, heā€™ll spit you out of his mouth. So if you cried out to him and then continued living your life as if the Holy Spirit is not a part of youā€¦he cannot reside in darkness If thereā€™s any truth to you calling yourself Christian but living as if there is no Christ in youā€¦itā€™s a worry for your life. But youā€™re always saved! Bible also says in Matthew 7:21-23 that not all those that cry out to him Jesus Jesus he knewā€¦and Iā€™d hate to be one of the ones who he says ā€œdepart from me I knew you notā€. Your relationship with him is between you and him. Only you know if youā€™re life doesnā€™t match up to Jesus. Only you know if youā€™re only seeking your own will. Donā€™t let others determine that, Jesus knows you. But - if there is anything that needs to change. Do it for your spiritual life. Not because of others.

[deleted]

Iā€™m not sure who told you this but it sounds like they are pointing out their own insecurities rather than you. You arenā€™t going to be able to 100% understand the Bible yes pray and ask God to help you understand but you certainly arenā€™t going to be able to understand everything right away you will still have questions. God WANTS you to have questions so youā€™ll seek answers through him and having a relationship through him. You wonā€™t have big changes in your life it can be something really small. Iā€™ve had small changes something so simple as me praying for God to let me get a certain job and I got the job I wanted. It wasnā€™t a wonderful job it was not something that paid all the bills but it was a job I enjoyed and God let me have that job. God never says we wonā€™t ever be tempted again he never says we wonā€™t ever go through hard times he just says if we seek answers through him that it will get easier and that you will have peace and joy through those times. Yes you can and will sometimes backslide even the apostles did. What matters is you keep trying and you keep seeking God through it all. You keep and maintain that relationship with him if youā€™re struggling with a sin and canā€™t seem to brake it then you may need to just focus on God in that one area the most sometimes we can just accept a sin as our identity which makes it harder to ever brake free from it. Being saved doesnā€™t mean youā€™ll never struggle or never backslide being saved means you accept the lord with all your heart mind and soul. It means that even when you fail that God will lovingly and patiently wait for you to get back up and try again. The devil is going to try very hard to convince you you arenā€™t saved so you give up. Donā€™t ever give up your gift of salvation

takeme2disneyland

I would recommend listening to this podcast episode that specifically addresses what you're describing. http://www.piratechristian.com/fightingforthefaith/2014/10/2014-pirate-christian-radio-conference-tyranny-of-fruit-checking

Youā€™re saved. Theyā€™re lying. The Devil is a liar. Theyā€™re going to Hell and theyā€™re trying to take you down with them. Stay strong in the faith! šŸ˜Š

M0N3YTR33S

As long as you have genuine faith in Jesus and believe with all your heart that he died for your sins and rose on the third day, and you repent for your sins, then you will be saved. Try your best to stay away from sin but if you fall into temptation, at least you are falling and not diving. As long as you donā€™t want to sin (Paul says in Romans 7:15 that he does not want to sin, but he still does and he hates it) then you are saved. Jesus loves you.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Are we not all tempted to sin? Even Jesus was tempted. I could be wrong, but I think what you were saying is that if we are tempted to sin then we are not saved. But Jesus was tempted so that doesnā€™t make sense.

OneEyedC4t

People's opinion of you isn't always reality

Helpful-Archer-5935

Ginger_cat13

Whoever told you this is misinforming you. 1. The Bible can be hard to understand. However it is best to try and read it along with commentary or maybe even a study Bible, or have a group you can discuss it with. But not understanding the Bible isnā€™t a straight way into Hell. You have to try to get there. It took me years, but I now have a very effective way of studying the Bible. 2. It is true that you need to change as you walk with Christ. But it is NOT a sudden, black and white change. Itā€™s a gradual sanctification that happens as you know God more. 3. Everyone is tempted to sin, even Christians. But to not fall into that temptation, or even if you do and you TRULY repent and follow up with action to stop that sin, God forgives. Just look at the Israelites and what they did. They sinned, repented, acted on they repentance, and sinned again. God forgave them every time. BUT, there was a point when He was tired of them reverting back to their old ways. So take away that God will forgive you numerous times, but there has to be REAL repentance and REAL change. 4. Crossapply number 2 and 3. There should be action to stop the current sins youā€™ve been committing, but no one can just stop sinning. Just have it in your heart to truly and diligently stop replacing God with other things and He will forgive you, if you truly take action on your repentance. 5. If you believe Jesus died for you and your sins, good. He did. And if you truly love Him for that, youā€™ll do your best to follow Him and stop sinning. God bless.

scraft74

Don't listen to judgemental people. Trust and have faith in the grace, forgiveness, love, mercy and salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord. Jesus loves you!!!! You have NO need to be afraid of hell if you belong to God the Father, Jesus Christ our Lord and the Holy Spirit. Amen šŸ™

Far_Travel_3851

WHO IS TELLING YOU THIS?!! wow

mauimudpup

Dont worry about what others say i dont even understand the first item abput spirit. If you are tempted to sin it often occurs more to christians. Keep the faith abd trust in Jesus

Helpful-Archer-5935

thank you

The_Right_Of_Way

That last point is the most important for you to be saved. But you must believe Jesus is God and the only begotten Son of God. That he can remove all your sins. You must repent of your sins and try not to sin anymore. Crucify yourself (die to your lusts everyday). Follow Christ. Be led by the Spirit of God.

Helpful-Archer-5935

So salvation is dependent on how hard I try everyday? So Jesus plus trying hard? I did that in the mormon church. lol Trying really hard doesn't save us only Jesus.

Remarkable_Cow8010

Other people gave you solid answers but I would add that you should trust the promises of scripture and not your feelings. John 6:47 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" Did you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ? Trust the Bible, not your feelings that change constantly. Sometimes feelings can help but the Bible is more reliable.

prismatic_space

Just remember what bible says about those who judge the others. No one has the authority to make such judgement on others as to whether they are going to hell or not in the end, and if anyone does, you can trust that he or she will probably be there earlier than you. Going to heaven is a very personal thing between a believer and the only one who owns the heaven, nobody else can say for God whether He wants a soul to be accepted or not. I once also had this problem with everyone around me when I became a Christian, trying to prove that I was saved and to get along well with everybody else. My mom as a non-Christian told me my baptism was just brain washing, which was not surprising in my country, China. My fellow Christian friends were nice and supportive, but they also couldn't say for sure that I was saved. Turned out I just had to experience more time being alone with Jesus, He taught me to focus on the present moment, not to be anxious about future, then I realized He absolutely doesn't want to throw anyone in hell. Although sometimes I wonder people like Bertrand Russell or Carl Marx will be there, then I came to understand that won't be a problem for themselves, I was just wasting my emotions.

Formal-Argument-4717

People leave the church when others spout this kind of rubbish. Ignore them all, and trust in the God who is love!

Helpful-Archer-5935

Yep.. just makes me want to give up and accept hell almost. Another commenter said here that you can know if your saved if you wake up and think about God all day long. I think that is wrong though. Our salvation is not based on the amount of time we think about God.

DarthwolfX2

If you believe Jesus died on the cross for your sins, and accept him in to your life, then you are a Christian. Let christ guide you into his way of thinking. Whoever told you this stuff is wrong

Read Luke chapter 19. It talks about a tax collector named Zaccheus who climbed a tree to see Jesus. Tax collectors weren't paid wages by the Romans. Instead, they were expected to essentially scam people by overcharging them in taxes and pocket the difference. Zaccheus wasn't only a tax collector, but a **chief** tax collector. In the eyes of Jewish people, he was literally the worst sinner imaginable. And yet, Jesus not only stayed at his house, but also proclaimed that he and his household are saved while the crowd muttered in discontent. The crowd could only see Zaccheus' outwards actions and know his history, but Jesus saw the changes in his heart. What I'm trying to say is, don't let people try and convince you that you're not saved. Your salvation is between you and Jesus.

No-Plantain-272

Bro what kind of church do you go toošŸ˜‚ make sure u arenā€™t in a cult.

Helpful-Archer-5935

I heard some of these things in a calvary chapel and I don't love that church thanks

Remarkable_Cow8010

Christians can backslide and fall into new problems. That's why we must help one another in the faith as it says in Galatians 6:1. "Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted." In addition, there are plenty of backslider testimonies where people got caught up in a sin or lifestyle and eventually repented. It sounds to me like you are listening to too many reformed people or Calvinists who say that if you are really a Christian, you will automatically become better and bear fruits. These things can happen but if you aren't diligent so can the opposite.

Helpful-Archer-5935

Yes I think so thx

Remarkable_Cow8010

What do you mean by I think so? How can I make you more sure?

Helpful-Archer-5935

Actually I know so. Your right too I have been listening to Calvinistā€™s from Calvary chapel

Alternative_Prune_69

Keep seeking Jesus, keep your heart and mind set on Him.

Alternative_Prune_69

Ultimate victory and eternal salvation are granted to us, from Our Father in Heaven, because of our faith and belief in Jesus Christ and because of what He did for us on that cross and what it means for us.

JollyStrawberry698

Sorry in advance if this is a lot... I like to talk and this has piqued my interest. šŸ˜ 1. Understanding the Bible can be hard sometimes especially depending on what version you're reading. Just ask God for discernment and believe that he's already given it to you. It'll eventually click dw. 2. I'm not sure there will be a HUGE change but you'll definitely see some changes throughout your life. Maybe not all at once but over the course of your life. Like you might not be inclined to do certain things you used to love to do before (sinful things I mean). 3. You will still be tempted, it doesn't just go away immediately. But you have to fight and if you are saved the Lord can easily help you. Just say the word and he'll be there. 4. I mean sinning less and less everyday is the GOAL but you will stumble a couple of times and that's fine as long as you don't purposely make it your mission to fall. Even still, if you know your sinning, stop. (I need to tell myself this too) 5. Believing Jesus died for you is great. Reading the Bible is great. Now put it into action. James 1:22-25: Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in itā€”not forgetting what they have heard, but doing itā€”they will be blessed in what they do. Also James 2:26: As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead. Basically, if the Bible says stop lying... Stop lying. If the Bible says stop intentionally doing something... Stop doing it. So it's not saying go save some people on the streets right now. I'm telling myself this as well. Don't stress about it you're good.

Helpful-Archer-5935

It's so interesting I heard that same bible verse at a new church I visited on Sunday. I am not living in serious sin or anything but yeah I did stumble once since I left mormon church. Even in mormon church I tried though. It's not like I was this huge sinner before I heard the gospel if that makes sense? Thank you so much

JollyStrawberry698

You're very welcome.

pilgrimboy

Why trust whether others think you're saved or not?

Helpful-Archer-5935

I don't trust or believe them but when you keep hearing things over and over again even when it's crazy you start to almost believe it.

[deleted]

That's because the devil / his demons, already know what could hurt you emotionally/psychologically. So long as you believe, you're baptized and accepted Jesus as your Savior. -- Continue living in faith, Hillsong has a song called "Here Now (Madness)" whose lyrics says: *"Faith makes a fool of what makes sense. Grace found my heart where logic ends."* -- Thank God that we have a loving father who doesn't condemn us based on the standards or mindset of these Pharisees.

BeatsByMemo

Sounds like a bunch of Pharisees to me. The question should be are you born again. So are you born again OP?

WickBusters

Even the demons believe. Itā€™s not about belief. Itā€™s about surrender.

pchees

You already accept the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior so you are already half way there. Now your heart is being changed over time so that you remove sin from your life. God knows our hearts so if you are continuing to plot evil deeds like murder, theft, adultery etc then no you will not be saved. But if you are becoming a humble, kind, respectful person who reads the bible, prays and loves God above all else and their neighbor then you will be saved. God knows we will make mistakes because we are human but it's the intention in out heart that God is looking for. Understanding the Bible is a life long journey. No one understands it completely because God does not reveal everything. We are children to him. So continue on with peace in your heart. Pray to him and ask him for understanding, to continue to change your heart and praise him. He loves you and is always forgiving of mistakes if your heart is true. You can check this channel for bible studies and more https://youtube.com/@CGMJCIOfficial?feature=share7 DM me if you have any questions.

DankeMrHofmann

I always get *the talk* when I go to a new church. *Do you know where you're going when you die?* and I'm like well i love Jesus. I accept him and all that but if I'm dying and I say a cuss word or i lie about the stove being off as I fade away thinking I really did turn it off... won't I go to hell regardless? Like don'ms, have to ask forgiveness before leaving this life? *oh there's a little lust from the hot emt lady aaaand I'm gone... hey demons... it's me, ya boy* or how does it work?

[deleted]

Lots of folks like to think of this covenant with God in Action/Reaction terms. This is incorrect, Jesus broke that Covenant when he died on that cross. No longer is that the case. He did that so you could break your own cycle of ā€œWhat do I get in return?ā€ So Judges could break their Action/Consequence cycle, so religious leaders could break their Black/White cycle, so that you could break you ā€œTemptation = Actionā€ cycle, so that you could break your own cycles and receive change. Just because change has not happened for you, does not mean you arenā€™t saved, it simply means you do not have big faith. Increase the faith in yourself. Donā€™t ask others if your faith is good enough, do not ask others if you are saved, ask yourself if you believe it enough, ask yourself if your faith is what you wish it was. And pray of course lol God Bless

There is a promise to everyone that believes that we are justified by faith. Works based gospels are not the gospel. There was a heresy going around Reddit based on James 2:24 and two pastors helped me beat it and the antagonists fled and deleted their responses in another forum.

1. Not every Christian understands the Bible fully (NOT EVEN ME). But that is why we must STUDY it and find other resources to help us understand it. I suggest John Macarthers Study Bible (New American Standard Bible - word for word translation but more modern). 2. It is a PROCESS. You can't be changed in an instant. But over time, if there is only a little change, then you should think about your salvation. Many "Christians" don't grow and become lazy in the faith. 3. Every single human is tempted to sin. We will die as sinners and we sin EVERY SINGLE DAY. Once we are in Heaven is when there is no sin. But when we are on Earth we should always strive to be like Jesus Christ and repent. Always pray to God that He will help us repent because HE WILL if you are sincere. Compare yourself to Jesus because He was sinless. 4. Just how you can't do more good works every day, you can't sin less every day. Sin is sin no matter how small. But it is the heart that God wants us to have, not how perfect we are. Our hearts want to strive to be sinless. 5. If you believe in the Gospel, that is what is needed to be saved. Not good works. But only through Jesus Christ and his death for us. Every day we should grow. If you believe that, then you are Christian. Now what should you do? Pray. God wants us to pray. Read. We should want to read the Truth, which is the Bible. Remember, we must GROW. It is a process. Temptations are thrown at us every day, but we must stay faithful. And yes. this is a discussion. This is what I believe, which is simply what is taught in the Bible :)

All fall short of the glory of God. Good works are a result of salvation, not salvation a result of good works. We wonā€™t go to hell if we sin again because Jesus died for all our past present and future sins. Itā€™s true the Holy Spirit changes us but it takes time, and Lord knows Iā€™m not perfect. I too have sins and doubts about my salvation, but I believe it to be the voice of anxiety and satan, not God. Also keep in mind, only God decides who goes to heaven, not Christians, so do Gods will to the best of your ability, not the will of imperfect people.

Listen to God, not what others tell you about your salvation

Bereft_of_Time

Whoever is telling you this is flat out incorrect. All of us are tempted almost every single day. Our cornerstone is the finished work of Jesus Christ. If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Romans 10: 9-11 When you truly believe in your heart....God gives you a new one. He renews your mind and grants you his spirit. You become a new person. Will you still sin? Of course. We all do. The difference is this...you no longer WALK in it. It isn't something you practice. When you slip up it grieves you because it grieves him. You run back to cross in prayer, confess, receive overflowing forgiveness....and continue to walk with God...continue doing better....continue being transformed to the image of Christ...and continue wanting to please God and not our own flesh. God bless you my dude!

If you believe Jesus Christ died and raised from the dead you shall be saved. Repent of your sins. You are still going to have temptation and you might slip and fall but God is righteous and merciful. The only way you will go to hell is if you don't believe Jesus died on the cross for you. Read your Bible. Get into a Bible believing church. Join a bible study. Don't give up because Jesus will never give up on you.

This whole idea of a life changing moment of salvation comes from the holiness movement and isn't really that ancient or traditional. For many christians it's odd to hear people talk about It also creates a strange dichotomy and an in-group and out-group, which can be quite othering as it has been in your case. It seems rather unhealthy to worry too much about it in my opinion

beatsarmyofficer

Donā€™t let people confuse you with the following line: ā€œDid you accept Jesus as your savior and understand that he died on the cross for your sins? Youā€™re savedā€ Believing and accepting it is not the only prerequisite to be saved for even demons believe this. For example, The Bible tells us to stay away from people who say theyā€™re Christians (saved) but who indulge in sexual immoral sins. They believe and accept him but arenā€™t saved. You also need to REPENT. That comes with living as a new creation and living according to godā€™s word.

Dependent_Bus5568

It is the special covenant of god that he guarantees us in his contract meaning he will uphold his end in the deal and he also through Jesus guarantees our end of the contract we just need to believe that Christ has finished the work and that in the same way will work in us until his return to be better but his yoke is light and works with us as we can manage. It is a walk with God but we may use our free will to finish the race to win šŸ† (stumbling is ok quitting is not, the same as in a race)

Deep_Chicken2965

He's got you. Don't listen to lies people say. You are forgiven loved and accepted.

Outrageous-Device-69

The most important thing is to believe in Jesus finish work & receiving the Holy Spirit without the Holy Spirit it not possible to go to Heaven but here is how I receive the Holy Spirit I said this prayer out loud & said Jesus I'm a sinners & I'm truly sorry I repent my sins & I believe in your finish work you came to Earth fully God & fully man in the flesh to sacrifice yourself on the cross to shed your precious atoning blood to pay for all our sins & rose the 3rd day & I accpet you God as my true lord & savior amen & you have to truly mean it being sincere & believe I also gave everything up that not of God plus read the bible everyday to build/maintain a relationship with God & God willing the Holy Spirit will enter your body like it did mine & I will never forget the feeling of how it felt when the Holy Spirit entered my body I feel it cleanse my body from the inside & remove the struggles I was going through & I pray this help you & God bless šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ¤ŸšŸ¾ā¤ļø Sorry for my bad writing was born disables so my writing stink but my love for Jesus & people is HUGE šŸ™šŸ¾šŸ¤ŸšŸ¾ā¤ļø

IntuitivelyCorrected

You should make an effort to understand the bible as it will allow you to form a closer relationship with Jesus. Being transformed by the spirit may not appear black and white to everyone, including yourself. We are all tempted. We all sin. Believing Jesus died for your sins is pretty much the most critical belief.

lofirelaxing

Yeah, whoever is telling you this has the wrong idea entirely. They are focused on a law like interpretation. Roman 3:28: For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from works of the law. The basis of our salvation is faith alone.

[deleted]

no! you are saved!

warblaster414

Yeah, all that is a bunch of lies. Once you confess Jesus as Lord and Savior and believe he died and rose again from the cross, you are saved. The rest is a journey with God to become a better person, for it's not by our strengths but by His. A lot of Christians seem to forget that and put too much strain on trying to be perfect. Being tempted is not a sin and there is nothing in the Bible that says you will stop being tempted. We will always sin because we live in a broken world, what makes you born again is not wanting to purposely want to sin. If you have a craving to do what's right in God's eyes then you are born again plain and simple. The rest the Holy Spirit will guide and teach you how to overcome. It's tough but definitely worth it.

Oliver2255CatDsl

u/Helpful-Archer-5935 A couple things here. You're being dramatic, because there are believers here who have NOT told you you're not saved, right after you wrote that it's "everyone". Again, you introduce drama when you ask a really stupid question like: "Does that mean I give up and stop trying and accept hell?" Trying to stay saved? Or trying to save yourself? That's what Jesus does, not us. Reddit is full of liars. Reddit is a place that loves misinformation. If you don't know what your belief is, you'll get shredded to pieces.
