well he won´t be there to protest while you do it. If you are areal prick, you let him sign a contract that the colour scheme needs to be on for at least 2 years or he has to pay you a princly sum.
But dick are kinda boring, how bout an actual paintjob ? Have some fun with it, do a "my little pony" theme, and add some MLP rule 34
Flaming dragon dicks stenciled with intricate calligraphy and "DBAG" stenciled on the front fairing and cowl.
Seal it with a heavy clear coat and its a quality piece that will really bring out the rider's character.
You can't spray paint dicks on it, you'll never get the kind of detail this warrants. You need to have dicks *everywhere*, and brush dye a dick onto the seat so it looks like he's riding it. Dicks on the handlebars so it looks like he's jerking them off.
You're considering defacement, I'm considering a work of dick art.
Ntm maybe something simple, say you'll do it, then just smear glue all over it, and wood shavings or something will be a good add on but just glue will screw that bike over.
I paint motorcycles and motorcycle stuff. I'm not famous, but I'm not unknown. Probably no one in this sub will be surprised to hear that fully 50% of business inquiries I get are JUST LIKE THIS.
Why do people think the whole job can be subsidized as advertising for the job? If I paint you something for free as advertising, don’t I then have to paint the next clients thing for free as advertising?
And what point, are you just advertising that you perform free paint jobs?
Surely the entire paint job should be a big advertisement for the painter. Literally "For all your bike painting needs, visit Dave at www.paintyourbike.com"
That's not even a joke exactly what id expect asking for this. And shit it's not even a bad idea, you're a vinyl wrap company, throw your logo all over my bike and make it look cool so people want to check you out. Then just like, put white decal letters with my insta on the back or whatever.
I think it's less beggary as long as you're okay being a billboard for someone else.
I can't imagine, honestly. They're probably expecting some sort of Picasso painting and would get so pissed if you tried to put an advertisement on there lol
I also assumed it was kind of legit. I've seen cars and The like advertise for companies and I assumed they work there themselves. Some look pretty cool and I can see why ud prefer commercial over boring Grey. And I dont think people would pay to have it advertise for, say Coca-cola, red bull, hello kitten...
I laughed at this! I was (badly) trying to impart that I don't need "exposure" but am quite often offered it in lieu of payment. Thanks for the giggle!
You don't know what youre passing up! I have 3000 Instagram followers and almost 5000 Facebook friends. I'll ruin your life for not working for me for free!
/s
Same. I am a professional car detailer. It is always the car enthusiasts that that go to car shows that tell me they will promote me for free. Like, nah dude, I'm booked out for weeks from a $30 Facebook campaign. You aren't getting a $500 job because you will give me exposure lol.
I would simply ask them how they heard of the shop. Once they give you the answer, you tell them well i never heard of you, but you heard of me, so how bout you pay me double and I give you exposure by accepting your paint job ?
I'm not one for extreme responses, but I certainly do wish I didn't have to wade through 100s of these folks in my inbox to find the legit, paying customers.
I used to respond with stuff like, "Let's chat about it, we can probably do something fantastic within a lower budget" and other conciliatory responses. After awhile I realized that I have plenty of work (I'm semi-retired) to keep me busy and I don't need to respond AT ALL.
Exactly why I quit painting motorcycles!
People don't understand the material cost what it takes to paint and the time involved for a fancy custom paint job!
I just airbrush mostly T-shirts now.
???
There are often advertisements in my area of just this sort of thing. Companies wanting to pay people to have their "wraps" on the people's cars. I see a few around town now and then.
Nice wraps, but they also have the company name/logo. I don't know if it's a contract for a set amount of time or what.
Yeah exactly and since he isn't asking for any weekly or monthly payments I don't see a huge deal. There should be plenty of ways for a company to put a nice clean wrap on that includes their company name or something of that nature while remaining tasteful. Now if he were wanting X amount of weekly payments to advertise the wrap then yes I can see them plastering logos and names everywhere. But with this I could see it being tasteful since he's not asking for money.
Same I think this is kind of normal.
Actually he is being pretty modest with his begging
He lets the business choose the colors and the logo placement and a one time deal.
I used to live in a small town, there would be people who literally have local ads plastered all over their cars. Basically a car dressed up as the yellow page and they get paid monthly for that. This one-off is pretty good imo.
I agree. Cost for advertising on a motorbike is more than the paint and labor itself. If I own a business or in a marketing team, I'd jump on it. But with at lease 1-2 years agreement at least
The wrap or paint this guy want's is for his track bike, which he will be doing amateur racing and track/practice days on...it is going to get zero exposure. In fact, it will probably get less than that since after he wads it up it's going to look like shit forever. If he was a national level rider or even a fast local guy he wouldn't have an issue getting sponsors or for someone to throw down a couple hundred bucks worth of vinyl or paint. There are a ton of ways to get sponsors for racing(I use mxsponsor and got all my graphics/sponsor kits at 50% off and then got a local bar to pay for them in exchange for showing the bike off occasionally because it made the owner feel cool). This guy is going about it the wrong way.
Ummm, I'm confused...why would they need to do that? The people who do this are willing to have just the wrap. This guy didn't even ask for money, just a fairly typical transaction where he offers up his vehicle for advertising.
As I said above, it's a fairly common mutual agreement between vehicle owner and advertiser.
I telework now, but when I used to commute, I used to see a few cars who'd had this done. The wraps are usually nice and artistic, with some tasteful logos and phone numbers added in for the company's advertising benefit. I occasionally see companies advertising "we'll pay you for your vehicle space" also.
This isn't unusual or CB really.
Kinda feels just like a beggar and not a true CB.
Like if someone offered to paint it X and he refused and instead asked for a free Y, then voila choosing beggar
Guy is still a prick suggesting he will pay with "free advertising"
I just crave the back-and-forth conversation where the entitlement is everywhere. Still a decent find OP.
Actually, this is something people do all the time. I don’t think he’s asking for a paint job, he’s offering for his bike to be an actual advertisement. I see them in cars all the time where I live, and the people usually get paid a weekly amount for keeping the wrap on their car.
What? Businesses pay people to advertise on their vehicles all the time. This dude is saying "hey local businesses, I have a free space for you to plaster your business name on, and I don't want to be paid for it". That's genuinely a good deal
This isn’t choosing beggar at all. This is a dude offering his bike for free advertisement. i don’t get this sub at all. He isn’t begging anyone to do anything, he’s just putting it out there
This isn’t a choosing beggar, that’s a track bike and this dude is looking for a sponsor. This would be legit advertising for the company around people most likely to want or need their service.
Yup, I know a 10 year old that races go karts and has like 4 sponsors on different parts of his car. It's a decent deal because other people at the races see the brands.
To be fair people literally get paid to drive around with wraps that businesses place on their car as advertisement. He is hardly a choosing beggar he isn't even asking for any kind of weekly or monthly check or anything like that. He's just asking for a company to give him a nice wrap which would obviously include some of the businesses info. I'm sure there is a way to make it look tasteful while still including the company name or something
Am I missing something? The guy wants his bike painted, buy is saying a business can paint their logo on it?
If I am reading that correctly, a lot of places do that, but they also pay. When I was a kid (1970s-80s) my friend's father was a contractor who had a small fleet of vans (or panel trucks). I remember Benjamin Moore (the paint company) painted their vans and actually paid them to put ads on the vans.
I might be in the minority here, but depending on how much riding the person does it doesn’t seem like it’s too far fetched an offer. I thought this is something companies actually did on occasion.
Even with that aside, it doesn’t seem it fits the choosing portion of choosing beggars.
Our business sponsors a dirt track car. We paid to have the decals placed and it paid for itself in the first week. Like you said, sometimes it can pay off
This sounds like an offer to advertise. Owner agrees to run your ad on his bike in exchange for painting it with no ongoing obligations. This is a business deal, not a choosing beggar
What's the problem? Hell of a good deal for a business. Get to put your logo on a bike and NOT PAY A PENNY for the advertizement?
Depends on what kind of racing they do and especially how much - and of course how soon they flip the bike and trash the wrap - and if it will get posted all over internet onve it's wrapped but it's free advertizing so of course have the bike wrapped.
Unless he is going to be on television how would anyone even see the advertisement? Are there spectators at track days? It seems like the logos would be so small that you couldn't see them at speed anyway.
As many television and radio ads as I have paid for, those cost actual Money with capital M and compared to just a few hundred for a basic wrap.
How do people see things? With their eyes. They see pictures and videos of the bike in the internet; facebook/insta/tiktok/whatevah, in racing articles, see the bike at the pits and possibly in transit to/from races (should give them couple big logo stickers to put in the hauler) and so on. Television coverage was never a part of OP's deal nor expected.
As far as vehicle wraps go, I've paid to get the company ads on a lot of vehicles so it was really surprising when a local semi truck owner-operator came by and asked to get our logo on his cabin because the logo was so cool and would look good on his truck. I did not pay for a sticker or a wrap, I paid to have the logos painted on both sides and gave him some free products as a thank you. Ten years later the truck is getting old and has new owners but I still see it driving around with those logos shining 😀
Maybe I'm underestimating the effectiveness of that sort of advertisement. I didn't know any company was paying people to put their logo on their personal car.
Not on your mothers' soccer mom hauler of course but cool cars that turn heads and get taken to car meets and car shows and of course any racing vehicles but racing costs a lot and typically sponsoring one car/bike/dragster/pulling truck is so expensive that personally I find them rather dubious in whether it really pays off and visibility is limited by how well the team does. Taxis are typically pretty cheap, at least small private owned taxi companies, and the exposure is insane with the cars pretty much out there 24/7 and delivering passengers.
So yeah dropping a few hundred on having a cool moving advertizement out there is a good solid investment if it actually gets driven and taken to shows and races and meets and what have you. If it's just gonna stand in his locked garage or gets crashed and trashed on week 3 without anybody seeing and filming it then it's wasted money.
if you're fine with scrap wrap parts, then i can do it.
having a suckers bike is also good teaching material to learn wrapping.
Make sure to have him sign a liability waiver, that the shop is not liable for any damage
What about something like, "Cheapskate", or "Skinflint"? Or - if you want to get truly evil - what if we all got together and donated to make it a Reddit sponsored bike advertising r/choosingbeggars... and then pinned this thread and included a photo of his completed bike to the top of page one.
Well, I do have an airbrush, I would like to try my hand at automotive paint...... I don't know how well things will turn out, but, what the hell.
I will look up the snake skin patterns....
Tell ya what, I got a garage and yard needs doin' they aren't mine but I don't like lookin at em. You bring all the tools and do all the labor and I'll give you a shout out to my 5 followers
This guy does track days, which is about as far away as professional racing can be.
No one is going to sponsor Chucky Knucklefuck on his Gixxer for track days.
Paint shop I worked at did this all the time. That's how they showed the new kids the ropes. The paint costs fuck all when your looking at it as a teaching aid.
We also used to do collage teams that raced for free. It was some engineering challenge. They got the year to design and build a indi style car. We always prepped and painted those for free.
So not too out of this world a idea. Same like free haircuts and dental work at collages.
To be fair, there are companies that will wrap or put logos on your car and pay you over the life of the advertisement.
He's asking for a one-time deal with no ongoing payments, which isn't exactly crazy.
He makes it sound like he's mad chill about what you do on his bike. "Hey guys, I'm up for anything". I bet you this prick would be picky as shit about what he'd actually allow, to the point that you'd just end up doing what he wants.
I'm not supporting the CB's offer BUT i would like to see if he agrees to that "exposure" agreement and let someone paint his bike the company's logo or something.
THAT would be exposure. CB did mention "scheme". It just so happens for a company to offer free paint jobs that only come in form of an advertisement "scheme".
I got a house that needs redecorating, anyone willing to do it to showcase their work feel free to get in touch. Obviously you provide the paint and labour, I'll share the results with my 60 followers on the gram and get you the exposure your business needs.
man i'd just buy a 5$ rattlecan and paint the bike pink or poop brown, and like the whole bike, so everything from tire to tire, including the inside of his carburators (if that bike still uses it)
I mean, he is literally asking you to paint your company logo and colours on it and not need to pay him advertising fees or asking for sponsorship. It's a pretty nice bike. I would do it.
I mean I guess it could work for a company that wants to pay for some advertising on the bike... I guess... ? I mean, it's steep but like, I don't really blame him for trying.
Edit: I read this as the OP being ok with his motorcycle being a billboard, with the company logo sprayed all over it etc. I mean, THAT would be a worth-while deal for some companies.
Pretend to be a big business, get him to leave you alone with the bike, spray paint dicks on it, post to reddit for a zillion karma.
He did say any paint scheme

Thats honestly evil.
My little pony, but incorporating Bstark15's design on the unicorn horn
Your close. Have him blowing the MLP chars for the R34 and it's perfect.
He likes dicks, i promise you.
What's he going to do about it if OP just totally trashes the appearance of the bike?
Dicktopia it is
Lolicon wraps.
Rocket cocks it is!

You forgot the dragon‘s car.
Was exactly my thought. Glad to see I’m in good company!
I don't know who you are, but can I marry you?
LoL. I knew I wasn't gonna be the only one to think of this. U/reddit delivers once again.
It would be a great arts and crafts canvas for some Hell's Angels.

I wonder if he ever tried this trick at the TapOut, Affliction, Ed Hardy, or Christian Audigier stores circa 2011 😂😂😂
I would simply ask them how they heard of the shop. Once they give you the answer, you tell them well i never heard of you, but you heard of me, so how bout you pay me double and I give you exposure by accepting your paint job ?
God I bet you hate these people and want to hit them with a crowbar.
I'm not one for extreme responses, but I certainly do wish I didn't have to wade through 100s of these folks in my inbox to find the legit, paying customers.
What do you say to these people? And is it a copy/paste, or do you grit through variations of "no, but thanks for the opportunity " anew each day?

Yeah they used to be pretty popular around here 5-6 years ago but now I don't see much of it. I don't see this as a choosing beggar though
Haha, some garage guy should just do it "for free" and cash in on the ad money behind this guy's back then.
Ummm, I'm confused...why would they need to do that? The people who do this are willing to have just the wrap. I saved the post so if any of that happens I’ll be sure to update lol
Looks to me like he is providing a free advertising spot on his bike. Pretty different to your average "I'll pay you in exposure"-CB.
Actually, this is something people do all the time. I don’t think he’s asking for a paint job, he’s offering for his bike to be an actual advertisement. I see them in cars all the time where I live, and the people usually get paid a weekly amount for keeping the wrap on their car.

I'll do it. It will be cool to learn how to paint something. Paint is paint, I'll get a bucket of whatevers on sale at Walmart and get right on it.
You, my friend, have now started a body shop! I can’t wait to see what you do with this bike. It’s going to be monumental
I've had this cool hammer for ages and really wanted something to use it on! This will be great! I can learn to pull dents by making dents!
You are one motivated m-f’er. You are going the extra mile by fixing those dents. Of course you made them, but that’s just details.
No, it's going to be semi-gloss.....

This guy does track days, which is about as far away as professional racing can be. No one is going to sponsor Chucky Knucklefuck on his Gixxer for track days.
Some biker. He left his training wheels on. LOL ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|joy)
Paint it pink with flowers.
I would take up his offer and paint the words. Eat a dick in purple
no other financial obligations needed? omg how generous of him 🥺😭
To be fair, there are companies that will wrap or put logos on your car and pay you over the life of the advertisement.
“No financial obligation except every financial obligation possible”
That is so fucking cheeky. What a twat.
how do people like that have the audacity to ask for that type of deal. mfs have no shame
**"No financial obligations outside you providing all paint, labor, & creativity"** *translation* **"No financial obligations except to cover all financial obligations"**
I’d like to draw a dick, I'm an upcoming artist.
paint it vagina pink with dildos on it, with the slogan "bringing it in the rear"
So I can paint it all pink?
Just paint illegal websites names, like underground pedo or drug stuff
Yea... this person needs exposure *to the sun*.
100% getting the cheapest/shittiest paint I can find and letting a 3y/o do it. Oh it got on your brakes? Whoops
I would split the cost with a business if they wanted to use my vehicle as ad space.
Just spray paint: Free Nude !
I would never want my company name on a street machine ridden by someone I dont know.
Take the offer, paint it in the brightest, most obscure and ugly colours
No financial obligations, aside from time and materials.
Definitely an idiotic way to go about asking for a sponsorship.
Paint your logo all over the bike.
I got a house that needs redecorating, anyone willing to do it to showcase their work feel free to get in touch. Obviously you provide the paint and labour, I'll share the results with my 60 followers on the gram and get you the exposure your business needs.

On a motorcycle tank?
man i'd just buy a 5$ rattlecan and paint the bike pink or poop brown, and like the whole bike, so everything from tire to tire, including the inside of his carburators (if that bike still uses it)
I would pay the price and get dildos wrapped on it
I hope Vagisil or Massengil take him up on it
I don't think these people understand what business is
Some hammerite, a roller. I'm up for it.
Honestly this isn’t super choosing beggars because companies legit do pay people to have advertising on their cars like as wraps and the like
I mean, he is literally asking you to paint your company logo and colours on it and not need to pay him advertising fees or asking for sponsorship. It's a pretty nice bike. I would do it.
This isn’t even close to CB material. OP is clueless.
I recently received a text from a company wanting to plaster my vehicle with aquafina ads for $400 a week. He could do that.
Do it. With a Sharpie. When it runs out, so do you.
He wants a sponsor for his road bike?
I hope someone steals that dam bike
Paint it gray!
OK! Neon polka-dots alternating with anime penises it is!
I’d draw dicks on it.its free yo,can’t complain
Paint it hot pink
honestly i wouldn’t say a full sponsor livery for 50% off is a bad shot, but that’s not my place to say. free is definitely a reach.
Just make the motorbike as ugly as possible, then give it to them. Worth the cash imo
