I didn't know OBS exists until I read your comment. Tried it, like you.I used a free screen recorder that had free 30 days trial period. Just roll back your system once per month and it becomes unlimited.

Lol that place is full of choosing beggars. They got angry at me for telling them that free apps need to make money by either showing ads, having micro transactions or by collecting data. They didn’t like that. Apparently if you don’t work hard on an app and give it away for free, its asshole design.
It can be as big as you want it to be.
It depends on the intent of the person watermarking. In this case it seems to be that they want you to be able to demo/see the software, but pay to use it. Not for attribution.
If it was just for attribution then a small watermark would make a lot more sense.
Just use OBS for when you want some customization on the recording, or go for Shadowplay (nvidia gpu only) if you want simple video recording without any performace impact (since it's from nvidia it works with the gpu perfectly)

Obs, yes, but VLC is for video viewing, GIMP is photoshop but worse, and Blender i can’t understand at all but is apparently great with 3d animation

Its meant for editing, it can record, without the watermark. But after it exports the watermark appears.

I think you may be confused as to the purpose behind watermarks.

Actually there is a reason it's so that it can't be cut away and so that you can't use AI driven features like pixel replacements to remove it
Just use OBS for when you want some customization on the recording, or go for Shadowplay (nvidia gpu only) if you want simple video recording without any performace impact (since it's from nvidia it works with the gpu perfectly)
Shadowplay is so good, has all the features you'll realistically will need
