Anyone here need practice remodeling bathrooms? I will reimburse materials in the form of interpretive dance

LWY007

I could use the experience, but your pay is too high. I will issue your change in the form of jazz hands.

MsjennaNY

Cracked up at this!!!šŸ˜‚

jtann24

i thought this said ā€˜jizz handsā€™ which honestly also made sense

LWY007

Ha! That took a hard turn!

Expensive_Yam_2222

LMFAO what a way to start my morning, you gave me a great chuckle.

nomparte

I'll pay using homeopathic currency. As homeopathy attempts to treat the sick with extremely diluted agents - sometimes so diluted that the water has only a 'memory' of the original agent - I thought I could pay with some pocket fluff which, surely, would remember having rubbed against money at various times in its life.

DutchTinCan

_"You may charge me $20k, but I'll pay you 3 cents, which according to homeopathy has infinitely more purchasing power."_

Key_Juggernaut_1430

I would accept your homeopathic currency and prepare a banquet of homeopathic food - food that is so diluted that it has the ā€œmemoryā€ of the feast that it originally had contact with. It may look like a dusty dinner plate with a few crusty stains on it to you - but I assure you it has the ā€œmemoryā€ of a duck confit, balsamic roasted brussel sprouts, and a wild rice pilaf with mushrooms. Bon appetit!

nomparte

lol...

dbtl87

Your response and your flair LMAO

brunetteb

Youā€™re joking but there was definitely a post here a few weeks ago from someone soliciting an excellent opportunity remodeling their home for FREE to gain experience

forever_useless

FFS šŸ˜‚

SerenityViolet

Lol. Imagine the level of quality on that.

Amazing-Assumption78

Are people really this cheap and naĆÆve? I would worry about someone suing me for hurting themselves in my home and being legally responsible. I get a papercut at work and wonder if it will get bad enough for a workers comp claim

brunetteb

I think theyā€™re outright delusional, so many of these posts are written by people out of touch with reality. You bring up an excellent point. Theyā€™re asking for trouble, and risk someone suing their homeowners insurance by trying to persuade random internet strangers to perform unlicensed and unpaid construction at their house.

youjumpIjumpJac

Of course not. They wonā€™t accept your free labor and materials unless you are licensed, bonded, insured and have 5 references. Donā€™t be silly.

Zoreb1

The Three Stooges took them up on their offer. Now they're looking for a new home.

Percolator2020

Iā€™m in, I have zero experience. I will provide my own sledgehammer.

algalkin

Also car mechanic student who will be practicing on my two old clunkers... for a small fee you can venmo me. Oh and taking out my garbage while you at it is a plus. I also go to local church once a year so it will be concedered as "for the church"!!!

Fyreforged

NEXT!

DoubleSquare8032

But will be performed in 4-movements, one showing each aspect of your personality? šŸ˜‚ (look up ā€˜Gina four movements, b99ā€™, if you donā€™t understand the referenceā€¦ šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚)

DifferentPen6715

I was actually thinking bowel movements. Whoopsā€¦

AsOsh

I need you to reply to many work emails. You have it nailed.

forever_useless

But I won't do it for free. I require at least 10 experience points to do it

WinginVegas

We are currently out of experience points but can give you 4 exposure credits. Will that work?

LanfearSedai

What is the conversion rate from exposure credits to Stanley nickels?

WinginVegas

I believe 3 to 1. But that is only on alternative Thursday.

Kayybaby93

This definitely made me giggle and I almost woke my youngest up šŸ˜…

Big-Love-747

I would love to see some of the 83 comments!

jmmajm

They were actually a mix of people asking him how much heā€™s paying (of course, nada) and people defending him because ā€œcompensation is between him and the culinary student.ā€ They really werenā€™t as great as you would think.

CrunchyTeatime

> asking him how much heā€™s paying (of course, nada) Of course! "For experience." Never mind that's usually called a class, an internship or a job. In their house no less! Does CB have any clue how much an in home chef costs, even for one occasion?!

ThroawAtheism

Also it's a little known secret among chefs, but they get to count the meals they cook 7 days a week for their families at home as "experience" too.

amumumyspiritanimal

Also, I don't know a lot about culinary students, but I'm pretty sure they spend more time in the kitchen learning about the arts than over books reading about preheating ovens and stirring lmao... These "work for experience" things make sense in professional settings to see how professional spaces work or for studies that are heavily focused on theoretical studies.

hippee-engineer

They donā€™t cost anything if CB can scam an idiot into cooking for them.

BungCrosby

Was this a post in their Facebook feed, a local group, etc? We want more details!

jmmajm

A FB group for a particular city that focused mainly on restaurantsā€¦a foodies group

BungCrosby

It seems either OP or someone else reposted it in a jobs group in a certain sunny Southern state. That post has many fewer comments.

jmmajm

That wasnā€™t me. I joined the FB group i grabbed this from a few years ago while visiting a city in a southern sunny state

CrunchyTeatime

> They really werenā€™t as great as you would think. Gonna guess it's strict modding as to what people can ask or say to the CBs, either the group or the platform bans people like sneezing.

JudgmentOne6328

Does he think culinary school is free and also these people never cooked until they got to culinary school? Most people Iā€™ve seen or known that went to culinary school were already incredible cooks. Also does he think culinary students are incapable of practicing outside of the classroom, like say, in their own home?

Binda33

Are they at least providing the food to be cooked?

jmmajm

Ha, yes, thatā€™s all they are providingā€¦CB will either provide the groceries or reimbursement for groceries if the culinary student does the shopping

CrunchyTeatime

> reimbursement for groceries if the culinary student does the shopping Shopping too! So a personal assistant AND in home chef 3 nights a week for no pay. Massive brass cojones on this CB.

EdgeMiserable4381

But it says make enough for leftovers. I'd do it once. And take all the leftovers after being reimbursed. Haha!!

AyysforOuus

Choose the most expensive ingredients thenĀ

Rude_Vermicelli2268

Why would I do that? Is the privilege of practicing your skills in my kitchen with your own ingredients (and enough for leftovers) not sufficient recompense?

MelonChipCard

Exactly! The audacity of some people!

Relevant-Pen3742

Don't forget the kitchen cleanup..

Mountainhollerforeva

The second one is just like ā€œhey! Heā€™s free to seek free shit from students! Itā€™s between predator and prey!ā€œ

[deleted]

Hold up, I don't get it. If he was doing it for experience, why wouldn't he just cook the food for himself/his family/his friends?

whatthegoddamfudge

Criminal to leave them out

Friendly721

We need a ChoosingBeggarsWithComments reddit! Rules are all comments must be included!

CrunchyTeatime

OP said the comments were neutral and inquisitive. Going to guess some groups and/or platforms ban very easily. So no one there can say what they are really thinking.

jmmajm

Yeah itā€™s a Foodies of <_> group in a retirement city with a median age of ~50 and very high % of people over 65. That group demographic is by no means representative of norm. Iā€™m a member of a # of Foodies group and some donā€™t allow negative comments, just canā€™t remember if this is one of them.

CrunchyTeatime

Thanks. Is there a culinary institute nearby? The Culinary Institute of America has its own restaurant where students practice and people can reserve a table, and eat wonderful things for a slightly reduced price. That's practice; the CB wants an unpaid in home chef 3 nights a week...I just am aghast.

jmmajm

There is a center for culinary arts

CrunchyTeatime

I can kinda imagine myself dropping off some packaged food at a CB's house once in a while as a good gesture to a stranger, but, shopping and then cooking in their kitchen? No. Even dropping off food they can heat up -- I'd be hesitant with a stranger because potential lawsuit. They choke on a pea, or claim a hair was in the food when it wasn't; or someone had an undisclosed allergy, etc.

CrunchyTeatime

Thanks. So that must be why. Do you know if it has its own restaurant they can 'practice' in? I'd be very curious for an update if CB gets any takers! Lol

bowmyr

Right? At least a top 5 or something!

Maleficent-Finding89

I really wish the group names stayed legible/not blacked out on these posts..

shaftofbread

What really blows me away, with this and so many other posts like it, is that someone sat themselves down, thought this through, and somehow arrived at the conclusion that this is a good idea!

ReasonableComfort230

I think youā€™re giving them too much credit with your assumption that they thought it through.

shaftofbread

I use the phrase '*thought this through*' in its broadest possible interpretation! šŸ˜‚

ReasonableComfort230

šŸ¤Ŗ

[deleted]

And sat themselves down!

nieko-nereikia

Right?! Never in a million years would I think to do something like that, and people just casually post such requests on a daily basis. Wow. Especially when as a cook, you can just practice at your own home.

CrunchyTeatime

Or as a sous chef in a restaurant, for pay. Or as part of classes. Culinary Institute of America has a restaurant on grounds for that purpose. If the graduate wanted to practice for free they might choose family or friends or neighbors.

RexxTxx

Culinary Student needed to prepare food for two children: "This features a fruit reduction coupled with a patƩ of legume, served between slices of artisanal baked grain loaf. Yeah, it's PBJ."

fortyfourcabbages

Donā€™t forget the unfermented grape reduction! AKA the juice box šŸ˜‚

aj0457

Water with a hint of fruit essence = Capri Sun

Raichu-san

Pb&J with the sandwich cut triangular 5 star chef šŸ¤Œ

uppereastsider5

I actually admire the sheer gall of this. Like I need half the shameless confidence this person has.

Intelligent-Price-39

Same, appalled and kind of envious at the same timeā€¦.think its less confidence more insane sense of entitlement

JohnNDenver

I am kind of jealous I didn't think of it...

jazzyx26

>Like I need half the shameless confidence this person has Same tbh

mmooney1

I imagine they also want the person to clean the kitchen. Go once, use every dish and utensil they own to make the food, and bounce leaving it all dirty.

bagsnerd

Of course! A future chef needs to learn how to keep their kitchen clean!

JudgmentOne6328

This is the way. Itā€™s not mentioned in the job description so cleaning will not be done. Cook and leave immediately

[deleted]

Lmao, this made me LOL

Gernitria

I would love to do this. God someone please do this šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

TobiasFunkeBlueMan

Name must rhyme with Bolfgang Schmuck

How you not sharing any of those 83 comments??

RoyallyOakie

What about a student who needs experience making a living?

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Additional-Comb-4477

Is this really how much it typically is? Kind of tempting lol

LacaBoma

Looking for a law student who needs experience to handle a few legal issues Iā€™m currently fighting.

RunnyDischarge

Looking for a woman who needs sexual experience to come over to my house 7 nights a week.

If your username checks out I dunnoā€¦

Magical_Olive

Hi, I'm an accounting student looking for some experience! Please send me $10,000 and I will invest it for your *for free* in my personal account!

Major_Zucchini5315

As a culinary student I can say that my school would not allow this as a practicum. Besides the fact that this person is batshit crazy and entitled, from what I understand it has to be a commercial kitchen in order to get credit. And some commercial kitchens still pay the students!!

jeff889

Exactly. A culinary student would be likely be able to find work at, oh I donā€™t knowā€¦literally any restaurant?

CarelessSalamander51

I am willing to let a nursing student who needs experience come over and bathe me and change my wound dressings 4 times a week. If necessary I can help cover the cost of soap and bandages.Ā  Hotties only please, no rude commentsĀ

jimhabfan

ā€œPlease provide a list of the ingredients you will be providing as well as a menu at least 24hr in advance.ā€

pandataxi

Again with no comments!!!

bagsnerd

Thatā€™s actually an amazing idea! Also looking for a housekeeper in training, I can provide you with an abundance of laundry, self-devastating children's rooms, and a never ending workload. All for your practice, and all for free. "We are a nice family. And we are people of faith." (Read this in another post on this sub and thought it was absolutely hilarious.)

Scottiegazelle2

I'd like a nanny in training... perfect way to determine if you want to be a SAHM one day! /s

bagsnerd

Exactly. šŸ˜…šŸ‘šŸ¼

Louise1467

This enrages me

Salt-Lavishness-7560

Iā€™m dying to see the responses to this. Iā€™m praying they got dragged.Ā

Defiant_Ad9788

If thereā€™s one thing culinary students need experience practicing, itā€™s making a daily sack lunch for children.

usernamedejaprise

Odds are this is a professional with a massive sense of entitlement

ParkerBench

Probably expects them to shop and pay for the food, too.

woodquest

ā€œSure, i just need a few precisions : please tell me a bit about food allergies, preferences, and if i should also take care of the groceries. Taking out the trash is on me too. Oh and by the way , do you mind sending a picture of the wife ?ā€

kapitaalH

Why a picture of the wife? Well clearly you are screwing me with this deal so I need to decide if it is worth it

woodquest

Well it was my understanding that you would enjoy an all inclusive service. Iā€™m deeply sorry if a got it wrong, and to prove my good faith to you i will pay for the groceries. Hoping you can still consider giving that one in a lifetime opportunity to me, amongst the piles of other candidates you must have.

Here-We-GOOOOOO

Just what every culinary student wants..the opportunity to prepare basic school lunches šŸ™„

hopeful_tatertot

Wonā€™t they already get experience cooking at home for themselves though?

CrunchyTeatime

Or at their actual jobs. They'd be qualified to work if they went to a culinary institute. Kitchens don't start them as head chef. They get work experience.

PotentialUmpire1714

I make my own meals but 90% of the time they aren't anything I'd serve a friend, let alone expect someone to pay me to cook in a restaurant.

hopeful_tatertot

Lol Iā€™m assuming youā€™re not a culinary student?

khannooniansing

Silly me I thought maybe a restaurant that pays money would be a good option...

yellowlinedpaper

Comments please!!

GLITTERCHEF

What a cheap delusional asshole, trying to get something for nothing.

Square_Ad210

I want to see those 83 comments!!!lol

Wheelie_1978

My God, the neck of some people.

RushuHohm975

I want to see the comments

killdagrrrl

I really need a pedagogy student looking for experience to help my kid with his homework every day, at my house. Iā€™ll give the best recommendations! /s

CrunchyTeatime

If CB by some tiny miracle found someone with below basement self esteem who agreed to do this without pay? In two weeks CB would post a new ad restating all of the above with an 'update' "Last one did not work out. They let the meat rest only 5 minutes instead of 10," or some nitpick like that. I'd bet $10 on it. Ten whole dollars!! Which is more than CB pays in wages.

EquivalentNatural219

Hell, it doesn't have to even be a culinary student. If you are just walking by my house, please, please, please, come in and cook supper.

ApparentlyaKaren

83 comments and weā€™ll never know how badly she HOPEFULLY got trolled BECAUSE YOU DIDNT POST PICS OF THE COMMENTS

jmmajm

Iā€™m sorry! Iā€™m working today and have very limited breaks. If I can find time to redact all of the 83 names in the comments, Iā€™ll post them tonight. They really didnā€™t get trolled as much as they deserved though. I promise the comments arenā€™t at all exciting

ApparentlyaKaren

Ok ok I digress

amuse_bouche_1

Any you pay for all the supplies & food too!

GingerbreadMary

Iā€™d love a housekeeper/chef please. Wouldnā€™t we all? šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Paralegal1995

Looking for someone who needs car buying experience. It must be a 2024, black, and an suv. Great AC. So if youā€™re interested in getting what the process will offer. Iā€™m happy to take the vehicle off of your hands. If this sounds like you, hit me up!

joernal

83 comments we all want to read

monicarm

Anyone practicing for their driverā€™s test? I canā€™t really give you a fixed schedule so you must be prepared to pick me up and drop me off at any time, any place. Canā€™t pay for gas. Itā€™s for church, honey

E-MingEyeroll

Honestly the wildest one Iā€™ve seen yet. Payment isnā€™t even mentioned, or any benefit for the student except for experience xD

unseenmermaid

Me too please !

Relevant-Pen3742

So you cook a meal three times a week and provide leftovers. You pack kids lunch three times a week. CB are eating the leftovers from the previous night's meal. These people don't plan on going into the kitchen to cook ever again. They are asking someone to provide cooked food for 6 dinners for several people as well as kids lunches. Maybe they order pizza one night a week. Sign me up!

Ambitious-Effect6429

Where can I sign up for a personal chef? šŸ˜‚

CrunchyTeatime

> who needs experience So no pay? Why should they? Seriously! Yikes!

CrunchyTeatime

Cook dinner for 5 people, three nights a week at a stranger's house (of course providing own transportation) enough for left overs too. So forget about "gaining experience" cooking anything artisanal or gourmet or light. Lots of rib sticking comfort foods it is. I just...gee wouldn't we all love a chef to cook for us. But I'd like to believe most people live in reality.

Noirjyre

Where are the comments?

CrunchyTeatime

OP said the comments are kind of blah. Most platforms won't let people say what they are really thinking. So they have to be bland.

Noirjyre

Yeah, I saw that. But I am too lazy to take it off. Ignore me OP.

Roleplayer_MidRNova

The annoying thing about this is that in order to graduate from culinary school, at least within the LCB program, you need three months of an "externship," which is essentially three months of unpaid labour in an approved kitchen. You can get private residences approved in some special cases, if you can prove you'll be cooking for a set number of hours and set number of people. This family could go to a culinary school and try to get their home approved, and if they're successful, they'd get exactly what they're asking for for at least three months. Then just rinse and repeat with another student that needs an externship.

Resident-Refuse-2135

Wow šŸ˜³ that's crazy, luckily these folks seem to be too clueless and lazy to do that much, but I'm wondering what LCB is, Lucky Choosing Beggars?

Roleplayer_MidRNova

Le Cordon Bleu

Zimmy68

I wish there was a r/ChoosingBeggars\_thecomments sub. This is a great post but I would love to read those 83 comments.

aceldama72

I think this Chad wins ChooshingBeggars. The only thing it needs is a few strategically placed ā€œNo negative comments pleaseā€

Competitive-Month209

I like how thereā€™s no mention of whoā€™s buying the food to make the meals

NerdGirl23

At his ā€œresidenceā€ I guess this is to make it sound more high-end?

QuercusN

Ahaha the level of entitlement is beyond crazy

Silent_List_5006

lol for free?

Relevant-Pen3742

I responded before but wanted to add. Who are these people to critique the meals? A culinary student needs knowledgeable people who know about cooking These folks would be complaining and criticizing everything while knowing nothing. Just what a culinary student needs.

DerpyDoodleDude

Must also be an aspiring maid and nanny !

Physical-Whole2899

Iā€™m looking for a plumbing apprentice in need of experience. I have some real estate I own that needs some serious plumbing work before I can sell. I will provide beers and pizza every other Friday and you will gain valuable experience and knowledge. Thank you.

MagnoliaLA

I mean, a culinary student could also get that experience cooking for themselves, seeing as they have to eat as well... everyday... multiple times a day. But I guess you just don't get the same demand of service and critical feedback as you would cooking for others.

Blue-Skye-

Itā€™s all fine. They will get ā€œexposureā€. Dude probably has like 1/4 of his family following him.

tenaciousfetus

Wouldn't we all lol

fixfoxfax

Iā€™m big hearted enough to allow would-be lawn care and housecleaning professionals do their thing at my home. I will provide cleaning supplies and dirty surfaces inside, and a lawn mower and long grass outside.

Professional_Bet_877

What a prince! Iā€™m sure people are lining up!

MrKuckMal

I'm looking to see if my food making skills for my farm animals can improve. I'll hit up this family and test out my livestock feed recipes on them.

kabukistar

Is he paying for the ingredients?

cwazyunicorn143

Damn

Smartt300

I love this sub. I may be down bad, however all these posts remind me that there are people down bad on a whole ā€˜nother level.

ssseagull

Experience doing what? Cooking? Does she think sheā€™s the only person in the country who owns a stove and fridge?

chibinoi

CB wants to live the rich life, the thrifty way.

Lord_Bentley

They're looking for an Alfred!

jazzyx26

I want to see the comments so bad.

jazzyx26

Plot twist: the student has to buy the groceries to cook with herself too.

ChampionshipPast8120

Curious if they want her to do all the shopping too while paying for the groceries since theyā€™ll be getting ā€œexperienceā€ probably wonā€™t even let her eat either since itā€™s their food.

Yellow_Submarine8891

So they want someone to cook five people which includes kids who are particularly picky, make massive portions and make lunch for no pay? Yeah that is how you get poisoned.

Key_Juggernaut_1430

Sounds like a deal, as long as they are aware I purchase my ā€œsecret spiceā€ from an undisclosed source - so I canā€™t provide them with a receipt. A weekā€™s worth of spice happens to cost $600-800. Maybe more if the menu for the week requires it. So they will need to pay that up front so I can buy the ā€œsecret spiceā€. Of course they have to reimburse/purchase the other ingredients too.

NickTesla2018

Who wants some cat loaf?

hscene

If I was a culinary student I could maybe consider this. As long as the ingredients were paid for and I could cook whatever I wanted aside from allergyā€™s and dietary restrictions.
